The KD-EXWPSTX is a wall plate switcher transmitter that supports 4K/UHD video formats with a bandwidth of 18G. It provides power over CAT and auto-switching capabilities. product Quick Setup Guide
- Begin with the KD-EXWPSTX and KD-EX18GRx, all source, display devices, audio system, and any other connected peripherals powered off.
- Connect:
- Connect video sources into the HDMI and USB-C input ports of KD-EXWPSTX. For USB-C, the cable must be USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 to support AV at the needed bandwidth.
- Connect video displays/projectors to the HDMI output port of KD-EX18GRX (sold separately).
- If collecting IR control signals at the wall plate, connect an IR emitter to KD-EX18GRx’s IR Out port and apply the emitter head to the IR sensor of the device you wish to control.
- Connect CAT5e/6 cabling from KD-EXWPSTX’s UHDoTP output to KD-EX18GRX UHDoTP input. Ensure that the cable meets the required minimum length of 17ft / 5m.
- Connect power. Screw-in power supply to the KD-EX18GRx unit, and then connect power to outlet.
- Configure:
- Configure KD-EXWPSTX with Key Digital Management Software Pro (KDMS Pro). Download HERE
- Connect to KD-EXWPSTX from your PC using the USB micro port on the face of the unit
- Open the KDMS Pro software and perform a USB scan (fig. 1a). Choose NO and Start to Scan when the USB Device Scan prompt appears (fig. 1b)
- Choose the detected device from the Devices window (fig. 2a)
- Choose the desired EDID handshake that you wish to provide to your connect video sources (fig. 2b)
- Control: Test for proper operation of the unit and cables in your system before permanently securing the unit for final installation. Ensure that you leave enough ventilation space to provide sufficient airflow and cooling.

- UHDoTP Output (Rear): Connect a CAT5e/6 cable to the Rx unit’s UHDoTP Input port using CAT5e/5 UTP or STP in 568-B termination. Damage may occur if using other termination methods and result in void of warranty.

About KD-EXWPSTX
Key Digital® KD-EXWPSTx is a single-gang wall-plate transmitter + presentation switcher with one HDMI and one USB-C input ideal for professional video installation in conference rooms, huddle spaces, classrooms, and more. KD- EXWPSTx utilizes Key Digital’s proprietary UHDoTP extension technology and is natively received by KD-EX18GRx black box receiver (sold separately). Future Key Digital product releases will include built-in UHDoTP Rx for integration with KD-EXWPSTx. KD-EXWPSTx supports 4K/UHD resolution with bandwidth up to 18Gbps and HDCP2.2 compliancy. KD-EXWPSTx extends video resolutions up to 4096×2160 at 60hz with 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling over a single CAT5e/6 cable up to 115ft (35m). 1080p signals are extended up to 164ft (50m). In addition to HDMI video and audio signals, KD-EXWPSTX features an IR sensor on the face of the plate to carry IR for controlling remotely located equipment. KD- EXWPSTX is configured using the USB connection and KDMS Pro software to apply settings like 4K to 1080p down convert, EDID handshake control, and hot plug detection for overcoming common systems integration obstacles. The wall-plate unit fits in a standard US single-gang box and is powered by the Rx unit for convenient installation.

Quick Setup Guide
Begin with the KD-EXWPSTX and KD-EX18GRx, all source, display devices, audio system, and any other connected peripherals powered off.
Connect
- Connect video sources into the HDMI and USB-C input ports of KD-EXWPSTX
- For USB-C, cable must be USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 to support AV at the needed bandwidth
- Connect video displays/projectors to the HDMI output port of KD-EX18GRX (sold separately)

Configure
Configure KD-EXWPSTX with Key Digital Management Software Pro (KDMS Pro).
Download HERE
- Connect to KD-EXWPSTX from your PC using the USB micro port on the face of the unit
- Open the KDMS Pro software and perform a USB scan (fig. 1a). Choose “NO” and Start Scan when the USB Device Scan prompt appears (fig. 1b)
- Choose the detected device from the Devices window (fig. 2a)
- Choose the desired EDID handshake that you wish to provide to your connect video sources (fig. 2b)
- Set Auto Switching as desired (fig. 2c)
- When Auto Switching is On, the Input Select button backlighting will illuminate solid.
- When set to Forced On, the Input Select button on the face of the wall plate will no longer switch video sources. Instead switching will only occur when a new source is connected, or an active source is disconnected.

- Save (fig. 2d)
- Refer to the Connections, Buttons, and LEDs section for more information. Full access to all settings/commands is achieved via terminal session using Tera Term or PuTTy software.
Control
- Use the Input Select button to toggle between the HDMI or USB-C source inputs or to activate Auto Switch mode
- Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate Auto Switching. Solid illumination of the backlighting indicates mode has been set

- Receives 12V Power over CAT from KD-EX18GRx
- Not compatible with HDBaseT or third-party Rx. Connecting to incompatible Rx may cause damage and result in void of warranty.
Supported standard 4K video formats:
Input Select Button: Used to toggle between HDMI and USB C source input or to activate Auto Switch mode
- Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate Auto switching. Solid illuminator of the backlighting indicates the mode has been set
- Manually switching with the Input Select button will override the Auto Switch setting.
- If Auto Switch has been set to FORCED ON via software command, the Input Select button does not control switching
- Press and hold for 10 seconds to reset the KD-EXWPSTx to factory default:
- EDID is setting 3 (1080p with 2ch audio)
- Input source is HDMI
- Forced HPD is OFF
Power LED:
- Color: Green
- Solid illumination during power ON state, as provided by healthy connection with Rx and healthy Power over CAT extension
- Steady blink if unit has a power short
Link LED:
- Color: Blue
- Solid illumination from healthy UHDoTP link between Tx and Rx unit
Video LED:
- Color: Orange
- Solid illumination with active TMDS (video + audio) signal
- Off with no TMDS (video + audio) signals
IR Sensor: Collects line of sight infrared from remotes without external connecting block
- Signal is output on Rx unit’s IR Out port
- KD-EXWPSTx is NOT controllable via IR
- Receives signals from a 90° angle at up to 30ft away.
