Blue Flame BSC-12 Town Gas Steaming Appliance Series

Note

  1. Check that all gas cocks are closed before the main supply gas valve is opened.
  2. After work, before closing down the kitchen, check that all gas cocks are closed and then shut off the main supply gas valve.
  3. When using the gas appliance, please switch on the central exhaust system to ensure adequate air ventilation.

Installation

  1. Installation of Town gas appliances or work on any pipe works and gas fittings must only be done by Registered Gas installers. This is stipulated by law and is an important safety precaution. So do not try to do it yourself or let unauthorised person do it for you.
  2. This gas appliance is to be used for cooking purposes only. Do not dry towels, clothes, etc. over it.
  3. Install the gas appliance in a well-ventilated area and keep it away from any combustible or inflammable objects such as paper or oil.
  4. Place the gas appliance on a stable and level surface, and below an exhaust hood.

Operation Instruction

Caution Beware of steam and high-temperature surfaces.

Turn On

  1. Ensure that ventilation and exhaust systems are in normal operation;
  2. Ensure that water supply is sound;
  3. Ensure that the water drain valve is turned off;
  4. Tum off all the flame control valves;
  5. Turn on the pilot valve;
  6. Keep pressing the safety valve button;
  7. Press the ignition button to ignite pilot flame and observe the flame condition through the inspection window. If ignition fails, repeat pressing ignition button for several times:
  8. Keep pressing the safety valve button for about half a minute and then relea<;e_ Confirm that pilot flame persists. If it is off, repeat procedures (6) to (8);
  9. Tum on all flame control valves to start the steam generator. Steam will emerge after about 10 minutes.

Operation

  1. Adjust steam output rate by controlling the number of flame control valves being on. The valve position shall be either fully open or close;
  2. Adjust steam input to respective compartments of steam cabinet by adjusting positions of steam control levers. (Only for steam cabinet)

Turning Off

  1. . If the appliance is stopped operation for a short period, tum off all the flame control valves and allow the pilot flame to maintain;
  2. At the end of works, tum off all the flame control valves and then the pilot valve;
  3. Refer to “Daily Maintenance” about daily water renewal of steam generator.

DAILY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE

To maintain optimum condition of appliance, please perform regular maintenance as follows :

  1. Clean the appliance, in particular the compartments of steam cabinet, so as to prevent blockage of drain holes, steam inlets and outlets by food remains;
  2. The appliance is made of stainless steel. Please use alkaline detergent to clean it but not abrasive or acidic agents.
  3. Do not apply water jets to it as this will damage the control components;
  4. Renew water of steam generator every day according to the following procedures in order to prevent water scale accumulation:
  5. Turn off the appliance and allow the steam generator to cool down. Beware of scald;
  6. Open the water drain valve at bottom of appliance;
  7. Close the water drain valve after around 15 minutes.

Handling Gas Leaks

If you smell gas or suspect there is a gas leak, YOU SHOULD:

  1. Open all windows and doors to allow the gas to disperse.
  2. Check your appliances to see whether the gas control has accidentally been left on without ignition.
  3. Extinguish all naked flames and turn off gas meter control valve to cut off gas supply.
  4. If all appliances have been shut off and you still smell gas, immediately call our 24-hour Emergency Hotline 2880 6999. Make this call from outside your premises.

Remember

  1. Do not operate any electrical switches, such as switching on or off lighting fixtures.
  2. Do not use telephones or mobile phones inside your premises.
  3. Do not use matches or lighters.
  4. Do not use a naked flame to try to trace a suspected gas leak.
  5. Do not press the doorbell of an adjacent flat.
  6. Do not turn on any gas appliances again until a situation under control by authorized personnel.
