Blue Flame Duck Roaster Town Gas Roaster
Product Information
The product is a gas appliance with stainless steel components and an outer casting. It has a flame failure safety feature that should not be cleaned on top. If there is a gas leak, there are specific instructions to follow to ensure safety.
Product Usage Instructions
- Wipe the stainless steel components with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Wash the outer casting in warm water and detergent.
- Do not clean the top of the flame failure safety.
- If you smell gas or suspect there is a gas leak, open all windows and doors to allow the gas to disperse.
- Check your appliances to see whether the gas control has accidentally been left on without ignition.
- Extinguish all naked flames and turn off the gas meter control valve to cut off the gas supply.
- If all appliances have been shut off and you still smell gas, immediately call out the 24-hour Emergency Hotline at 2880 6999. Make this call from outside your premises.
- Do not operate any electrical switches, such as switching on or off lighting fixtures.
- Do not use telephones or mobile phones inside your premises.
- Do not use matches or lighters.
- Do not use a naked flame to try to trace a suspected gas leak.
- Do not press the doorbell of an adjacent flat.
- Do not turn on any gas appliances again until the situation is under control by authorized personnel.
- Check that all gas cocks are closed before the main supply gas valve is opened.
- After work, before closing down the kitchen, check that all gas cocks are closed and then shut off the main supply gas valve.
- When using the gas appliance, please switch on the central exhaust system to ensure adequate air ventilation.
- Please reduce the gas rate, then open the door or inspection door slowly when putting or picking up food, igniting the pilot, or observing the food and flame inside the roaster during cooking.
Safety Instruction

Components and Parts Names
Installation
- Installation of Town gas appliances or work on any pipe works and gas fittings must only be done by Registered Gas installers. This is stipulated by law and is an important safety precaution. So do not try to do it yourself or let an unauthorized person do it for you.
- This gas appliance is to be used for cooking purposes only. Do not dry towels, clothes, etc. over it.
- Install the gas appliance in a well-ventilated area and keep it away from any combustible or inflammable objects such as paper or oil.
- Place the gas appliance on a stable and level surface, and below an exhaust hood.

Operation Instruction
Turn On
- Before igniting, please make sure that all gas control valves are in the “OFF” position.
- Turn on the Ignition Rod Valve, and ignite the Ignition Rod.
- Turn on the Pilot Control Valve, ignite the Pilot using the Ignition Rod, and press the Safety Control Valve simultaneously for around half a minute.
- Release the Safety Control Valve and turn off the Ignition Rod Valve. If the pilot flame goes out, repeat the above ignition procedures again.
- Turn Flame Control Valve to adjust the flame to the desired setting.
- If the flame is extinguished while using, the Flame Failure Safety Device will shut the gas off after a short delay. If you notice the flame is extinguished, please turn the Flame Control Valve to the “OFF” position.
Turn Off
- Tum the Flame Control Valve backward to the “OFF” position to extinguish the burner.
- If the gas appliance will not be used for a prolonged period, please turn off the Pilot.
Fault
For any problems in operating the appliance, please call Towngas for service
at 2880 6988.
Daily Maintenance Procedure
- Wipe the stainless steel components with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Wash the outer casting in warm water and detergent.
- Do not clean the top of the flame failure safety sensor and the pilot flame jet with a hard brush, as it may damage the sensor and the pilot flame jet.
- Clean the brick stone holder and the brick stone inside the roaster once a week.
- Shall locate brick stone evenly over the brick stone holder.
- Drain the water with oil and grease inside the oil drain pan regularly. Clean water shall be filled in and maintained at the level up to the overflow pipe outlet and ensure pipes are not blocked.
- Regular maintenance should be conducted by a Registered Gas Contractor at least once a year.
Handling Gas Leaks
If you smell gas or suspect there is a gas leak, YOU SHOULD:
- Open all windows and doors to allow the gas to disperse.
- Check your appliances to see whether the gas control has accidentally been left on without ignition.
- Extinguish all naked flames and turn off the gas meter control valve to cut off the gas supply.
- If all appliances have been shut off and you still smell gas, immediately call out the 24-hour Emergency Hotline at 2880 6999. Make this call from outside your premises.
