Lighting the grill

  • Only fill the charcoal chamber with the maximum amount or less of charcoal.
  • Stack charcoal in the centre of the charcoal chamber or use a chimney starter.
  • Carefully spread a couple of paraffin cubes into the middle of the charcoal and light by using a long-neck lighter or matches.
  • Never use charcoal impregnated with charcoal lighter fluid as the use of these can cause serious bodily injury, death, or fire, causing damage to property.
  • The charcoal is ready when gray ash is beginning to form on the top coals. Spread the coals evenly over the charcoal grate, with a pair of tongs or long handled metal tool.
  • Be aware of the lid and lid vents after lighting and during operation, as the air flow has a big impact on how the charcoals are burning. The more air that you allow into the grill, the hotter the internal temperature will be. During cooking, you can control the internal grill temperature by easily adjusting the lid vents. To ensure a high internal grill temperature make sure that the lid vents are fully open. If your intention is to cook indirectly at lower temperatures, you can close the lid vents halfway. Closing the lid and the lid vents completely will cut off oxygen flow and will eventually extinguish the charcoals.

Do not use the barbecue in a confined and/or habitable space e.g. houses, tents,
caravans, motor homes, boats.
