LogTag USRID-16WA-B Electronic Shipping Indicators
User Instructions
The LogTag® USRID-16W is a single-use electronic shipping indicator, which
monitors and records the temperature of the surrounding environment and shows
any alarm conditions on the built-in display. At the end of a recording trip,
alarm events can be reviewed on the
display or downloaded to a PC via the built-in USB plug.
Inspecting the Indicator
The USRID-16W is shipped pre-confi gured, but not yet recording temperatures. Pressing the button briefl y will activate the display and show READY. Aft er 30 seconds, the display will turn off again.
Starting the Indicator
-
To start the Indicator, press and hold the START/Mark button.
-
Release the button when the symbol changes from fl ashing to permanently on (aft er approx. 5 seconds), then release the button.
-
The USRID-16W starts a 60-minute countdown, during which no temperatures are recorded.
-
The Indicator should now be attached to the backing card using the double-sided adhesive foam, and be placed with the goods, so it reaches their temperature when the recording begins.
-
When the countdown has completed, the Indicator will start recording temperatures at 5 minute intervals and monitor alarm conditions.
During Recording
While the USRID-16W is recording, the display shows:
- the last recorded temperature
- so you can identify it is recording
- the elapsed time since the start of the recording in days and hours
- a tick if no alarm events were triggered
- a cross if an alarm event occurred, and one or more alarm arrows to show at which temperature
Example Screens
- While the temperature readings stay within the pre-confi gured limits (these depend on the Indicator Type) the OK symbol is displayed.
- If an alarm event is triggered, the Reject symbol is displayed, with an alarm arrow indicating which alarm level was breached.
- When the temperature returns to acceptable levels, both the Reject symbol and the alarm arrow remain visible to show that an alarm event occurred during the trip.
Placing a Mark in the Readings
Each time you press the START/Mark button a mark is recorded in the data. This mark is shown on the PDF and can be used to identify events such as a vaccine inspection.
Stopping the Indicator
When the shipment has reached its destination, you must retrieve the USRID-16W
from the package and immediately stop it, so the device does not generate
false alarms. To do this, press and hold the STOP/Review button until the
STOPPED symbol changes from
fl ashing to permanently on (aft er approx. 5 seconds), then release the
button. Holding the button for longer than 6 seconds will cancel this process;
instead, the Indicator will continue to record.
The USRID-16W will also stop automatically aft er 40 days of temperature data have been recorded. When stopped, the display will show:
- STOPPED to show the Indicator is no longer recording temperature
- the total trip duration during which the Indicator recorded temperatures, in days and hours
- a tick if no alarm events were triggered
- a cross if an alarm event occurred, and one or more alarm arrows to show at which temperature
- Once stopped, no additional readings will be taken or processed, and it is not possible to start the Indicator again.
Reviewing the Data
Once the Indicator has stopped, you can review the trip data on the display.
- To show the first review screen, press the STOP/ Review button. It shows the maximum temperature reached during the trip.
- The second screen shows the minimum temperature reached during the trip.
- Review screens three to fi ve are only shown if alarm events were triggered.

- The fourth screen shows the next lower triggered alarm threshold, with the elapsed time when that alarm was triggered.
- The fifth review screen shows the lowest triggered alarm threshold, with the elapsed time when that alarm was triggered.
When the STOP/Review button is pressed while in this screen, the initial
review screen is shown. If the START/Mark button is pressed at any time during
the review, the normal STOPPED screen is shown. If no button is pressed for 30
seconds, the normal
STOPPED screen is shown.
You can view a PDF of the recorded data by plugging the Indicator into a USB socket of any PC capable of displaying PDF fi les. PDF reader soft ware is required, such as Acrobat Reader or similar. The PDF contains a summary of the trip, alarm details, a chart, and a list of the recorded temperatures. It is possible to plug the USRID-16W into a USB socket while it is still recording, but not recommended. You will be able to view the PDF file, but during this time the Indicator will not record any temperature data, and will be shown.
Battery
