SmartGroup Headsets
SmartGroup Headsets are a customizable solution that can be built according to your needs. You can choose the number of Teacher headsets and the number of Student headsets you require. It is recommended to purchase a programming tablet for further customization capabilities.
The Short-Range transmit mode can be enabled through the programming tablet or user settings per the SM1P manual.Short-Range mode is only transmissible from VOX and VOX is disabled in SmartGroup headsets as it does not allow for continuous transmission and Teacher headsets do not receive audio. There are up to 8 preprogrammed channels available on SmartGroup headsets which are configurable via setup mode.
The headset should be regularly charged. To charge your headset, connect the charger to the headset and connect it to the mains power. The Right Indicator LED will turn Red while charging and will turn Green when charging is complete. If the battery is low, the LED will flash Red when the unit is turned on. The headset should be fully charged before first use. The charge time is 5 hours, and the battery life is 24 hours.
The Power button is used to power on or off the headset. The Volume buttons are located on the side of earmuffs above the Power button and each press raises the volume one notch. The Multi-function button is located on the left side of earmuffs and can be enabled for following features:
- Answer/End call
- Play/Pause music
- Activate voice assistant
Product Usage Instructions
SmartGroup Headsets
- Choose the number of Teacher and Student headsets you require.
- Purchase a programming tablet for further customization capabilities.

- Charge your headset fully before first use.
- To charge your headset, connect the charger to the headset and connect it to the mains power.

- The Multi-function button can be used to answer/end calls, play/pause music, and activate voice assistant.
QUICK START GUIDE
CHARGING
- The headset should be regularly charged. To charge your headset connect the charger to the headset and connect to the mains power.
- While charging the Right Indicator LED will be Red.
- When charging is complete the LED will turn Green.
- If battery is low, the LED will flash Red (when the unit is turned on)
- Note: Be sure to charge your headset fully before first use.
- Note: Your headset will automatically power up when the charger is connected to the headset.

Battery Life: 24 hours
HEADSET BUTTONS
Power on / off
To power up your headset press and release the power button. To power off your
headset press and hold the power button until the unit powers off.
Volume up / down
Volume buttons are on side of earmuff above power button. Each press raises
the volume one notch. You will hear a single beep in your ear. Once you reach
the highest volume level, you will hear a double beep.
Multi-function button
The multi-function button is on left side of earmuff and can be enabled for
following features:
- Push-to-Talk (PTT) when in Short-Range and external PTT is not attached
- Latching PTT (also called “sticky PTT”) feature for continuous “hot mic” communication
- User setting changes per SM1P manual
SETTINGS
SENS® (Speech Enhancement Noise Suppression) Technology SENS® will be full duplex (no need to use PTT – this allows for face-to-face communication) – on at startup. To get out of SENS®:
- To turn off: short press power button – puts headset into “Quiet Mode”
- Quiet Mode: user will not hear feedback when speaking
- To turn back on: short press power button again
Short-Range
Short-Range transmit modes can be enabled via the programming tablet or user
settings per the SM1P manual. Short-Range is only transmissible from the
Teacher headset. There are multiple transmit modes:

Normal mode – Headset will transmit normally when PTT button is pressed and stop transmitting when PTT button is released
(when enabled with programming tablet) -
Transmit (TX) only mode (default mode for Teacher headset) – Headset is constantly in transmit mode when powered on and will not receive audio

Latching PTT mode (designed specifically for tours) – Headset will transmit when PTT button is pressed and will continuously transmit until PTT button is pressed again (when enabled with programming tablet)
VOX
VOX (voice-operated exchange or transmission) is disabled in SmartGroup
headsets, as there VOX does not allow for continuous transmission and Teacher
headsets do not receive audio.
Channels
There are up to 8-preprogrammed channels available on SmartGroup headsets
which are configurable via setup mode:
- Channel 1 – 89.9 FM
- Channel 2 – 97.2 FM
- Channel 3 – 98.7 FM
- Channel 4 – 99.0 FM
- Channel 5 – 100.1 FM
- Channel 6 – 100.8 FM
- Channel 7 – 101.3 FM (default)
- Channel 8 – 104.3 FM
