CT-1148 COFFEE MAKER

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

The CT-1148 is a coffee maker produced by CENTEK. It has the following features:

  • Can make up to 5 cups of coffee at a time
  • Has a heating plate to keep coffee warm
  • Comes with an instruction manual

Usage Instructions

  1. Fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of water.
  2. Insert a coffee filter and add the desired amount of ground coffee.
  3. Turn on the coffee maker and wait for the coffee to brew.
  4. Once brewing is complete, turn off the coffee maker and pour the coffee into a cup.
  5. Clean the coffee maker after each use by removing the used coffee filter and washing the water reservoir and carafe with soap and water.

This appliance is designed for use in domestic and similar applications, in particular:

PURPOSE OF THE APPLIANCE: for making coffee from ground coffee beans.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

In order to avoid situations dangerous to life and health, as well as premature failure of the device, the following conditions must be strictly observed:

  1. Please read this manual carefully before putting the instrument into operation. Save these instructions, the sales receipt and the packaging of the appliance.
  2. Improper handling of the device can lead to damage to the device, property damage and harm to the user’s health.
  3. To avoid electric shock and damage to the instrument, use only the accessories supplied with the product.
  4. Before switching on the device, make sure that the mains voltage matches the operating voltage.
  5. Install the device on a dry, level surface. Do not place it on hot surfaces or near heat sources (electric stove, etc.), or near curtains or under hanging shelves.
  6. To avoid burns, do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
  7. The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of life experience or knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction regarding the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised to prevent playing with the appliance.
  8. Do not turn on the device without water.
  9. Use only cold water to brew coffee.
  10. Switch on the appliance only when the coffee cup is in place.
  11. Never leave the switched on device unattended.
  12. When the device is not in use, always unplug it from the mains.
  13. Do not immerse the appliance and power cord in water or other liquids.
  14. Keep the power cord away from sharp edges and hot surfaces.
  15. When disconnecting the appliance from the mains, grasp the mains plug instead of pulling on the mains cord.
  16. Switch off the appliance for at least 5 minutes before preparing each new coffee to cool it down.
  17. Do not use the glass for other purposes, do not place it on gas, electric stoves and microwave ovens.
  18. Do not use the appliance with a damaged mains cord and plug, after being dropped or with other malfunctions. To have the instrument repaired, contact your nearest authorized service center.
  19. Use the device only with the correct connector.

ORDER OF WORK

PREPARATION FOR WORK

  • Remove the device from the packaging.
  • Wash all removable parts with warm water and neutral detergent, rinse, wipe dry and reinstall.
  • Before preparing coffee, carry out 2-3 brewing cycles using only water, without pouring coffee into the filter.
  • Open the lid (1) and pour water into the tank, place a glass (4) on the platform, plug the power cord into the socket and turn on the coffee maker by setting the power switch (6) to the “I” position.
  • When there is no water left in the tank, turn off the coffee maker by setting the switch (6) to position «0».
  • Let the appliance cool down for 5 minutes and pour out the water from the glass (4).
  • Repeat the procedure 2-3 times. The coffee maker is ready to use.

USING THE APPLIANCE
The process of making coffee consists in passing hot water under steam pressure through ground coffee. This gives the drink an aroma and a pronounced taste. The taste of the finished drink depends on the quality of the original product, so it is recommended to use freshly ground coffee beans.

  • Open the filter holder (2).
  • Using a measuring spoon, pour the required amount of ground coffee into the filter, level it, but do not tamp it down.
  • Close the filter holder (2).
  • Open the lid of the water tank (1) and fill it up to the required level with cold water.
  • Close the tank cover (1).
  • Install the glass (4) on the platform.
  • Plug the power cord into a power outlet.
  • Turn on the coffee maker by moving the switch (6) to the “I” position, the indicator light will light up and the coffee maker will start working.
  • When all the water has passed through the filter, turn off the coffee maker by setting the switch (6) to the «0» position.
  • To keep the coffee hot, keep the glass (4) on the platform without turning off the coffee maker.

ATTENTION!

  • When there is no need to heat the glass (4), turn off the coffee maker by turning the switch (6) to the «0» position.
  • During the preparation of coffee, water under steam pressure passes through the ground coffee, so do not open the filter holder (2) and remove the filter.

CARE OF THE APPLIANCE

  • Unplug the appliance from the mains before cleaning.
  • Make sure the coffee maker is completely cool, then wipe the outside of the appliance with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Use mild detergents to remove dirt, do not use metal brushes or abrasive detergents.
  • Wash all removable parts with warm water and neutral detergent, rinse, wipe dry and reinstall.
  • Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or other liquids.
  • Do not put the coffee maker in the dishwasher.

DESCALING

  • Descale the coffee maker regularly.
  • To remove scale, fill the water tank with a solution of citric acid (25-30 g of citric acid is needed per 1 liter of water), or use a special descaling agent (according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the packaging).
  • Switch on the appliance and carry out the brewing cycle without adding coffee.
  • When the water tank runs out of solution, rinse the coffee maker thoroughly. To do this, fill the tank with clean water and, without adding coffee, turn on the device. Repeat the cycle several times.
  • Descaling must be done after every 300 uses.

BE CAREFUL! Accessible surfaces of the appliance can reach high temperature during operation.

DISPOSAL

Upon expiry of its service life the appliance can be disposed of separately from ordinary domestic waste. You can turn it over to a specialized electric and electronic appliance disposal and recycling centre.

The service life of this item is 5 years since the date of sale to the end user, provided the item will be used in strict accordance with the present manual and the applicable technical standards. The guarantee period for all appliances amounts to 12 months since the date of sale to the end consumer. With this Warranty Card the Manufacturer confirms the proper condition of the appliance and undertakes to repair, free of charge, all defects caused by the Manufacturer’s default.

GUARANTEE MAINTENANCE TERMS

  1. The guarantee shall be valid if the following documentation conditions are observed:

The original Warranty Card shall be filled out correctly and clearly, indicating the of appliance model, serial number and sale date, the stamp of the seller company and signature of its representative shall be available, as well as the stamps on each coupon and the buyer’s signature in the Warranty Card.
  3. The Manufacturer reserves the right to reject guarantee maintenance if the buyer fails to provide the abovementioned documents or if the information contained therein is incomplete, illegible or ambiguous.
  4. The guarantee shall be valid if the following operation conditions are observed:
  5. the appliance is used in strict accordance with the present manual;
  6. the safety rules and requirements are observed.
  7. The guarantee does not apply to regular maintenance, cleaning, installation and setup of the appliance at the owner’s location.
  8. The guarantee does not apply in the following cases:
  9. mechanical damage;
  10. normal wear of the appliance;
  11. non-observance of operation requirements or erroneous actions on the part of the user;
  12. improper installation or transportation;
  13. natural disasters (lightning, fire, flood, etc.), as well as any other causes beyond the Manufacturer’s or Seller’s control;
  14. ingress of foreign objects, liquids or insects into the inside of the appliance;
  15. repairs or modifications to the appliance by unauthorized persons;
  16. use of the appliance for commercial purposes (loads exceeding normal domestic application), connection of the appliance to utility and telecommunication networks incompliant with national technical standards;
  17. failure of the following accessories, if replacement of these is allowed by design and does not involve disassembly of the appliance:
  18. remote control units, rechargeable batteries, replaceable batteries (power cells), external power supply units and chargers;
  19. consumables and accessories (packaging, covers, slings, carry bags, mesh screens, blades, flasks, plates, supports, grilles, spits, hoses, tubes, brushes, nozzles, dust collectors, filters, smell absorbers);
  20. for battery-powered appliances – operation with inappropriate or depleted batteries;
  21. for rechargeable battery-powered appliances – any damage caused by improper battery charging and recharging.
  22. The present guarantee is provided by the Manufacturer in addition to the consumer rights determined by the applicable legislation and does not limit these rights in any way.
  23. The Manufacturer shall not be made liable for possible damage, directly or indirectly inflicted by CENTEK brand products on people, domestic animals, the consumer’s or third persons’ property if such damage is inflicted as the result of non-observance of appliance installation and operation requirements, deliberate or negligent actions (omission) by the consumer or third persons, as well as of force majeure circumstances.
  24. Service centers will only accept appliances in a clean state (there should be no food residues, dust and other contamination on the appliance). The Manufacturer reserves the right to change the design and specifications of the appliance without prior notice.
