INSTALLATION

  1. Select a location for the TANK that is level and below the condensate pan drain. The Pump maybe placed inside the air conditioner, within a ceiling compartment or wall mounted.

  2. The mounting tabs on the tank are 6 7/8” apart. The dual mounting slots allow for multi-directional placement.

  3. Connect the CONDENSATE DRAIN, using ½” flexible tubing or PVC pipe into the inlet. Be sure the tubing or pipe extends into the tank 1/2” or more.

  4. Discharge connection to CHECK VALVE may be made with 3/8” vinyl tubing secured by hose clamp (not included) or the barb may be removed by sawing so that threaded fitting (¼  NPT) may be attached. BE SURE NOT TO OVER-TIGHTEN.
NOTE: If it becomes necessary to replace the check valve, a check valve replacement kit (Beckett Part Number CX9059) is available. Instructions for installing are included in the kit.

  5. Route the DISCHARGE TUBING up and away from the air conditioning unit. Limit the lift height to 4’ and slant downward, if possible, to assist in drainage.

  6. The SAFETY SWITCH leads should be connected for proper operation of the pump. Using this feature may prevent damage from condensation over-flowing if the discharge becomes  blocked or the pump fails. The leads may be connected in series with the low voltage thermostat circuit in order to shut down heating/air-conditioning system if the pump fails, or they may be connected to an external alarm.
SAFETY SWITCH not included in CB121LSUL and CB122LSUL models for applications that do not require SAFETY SWITCH.

  7. When all mounting and water connections are secure, connect unit to electrical supply.

WARNING!

  • Do not pump flammable liquids.
  • Do not use this pump in explosive areas.
  • Do not run dry.
  • Do not handle unit with wet hands or while standing in water.

TESTING

  • Remove the tubing connecting the drains to the pump and pour water slowly into the pump inlet.
  • The primary control float will rise until the micro switch turns the pump on.
  • The pump should run and water should flow from the tubing to the drain.
  • To test the safety control, temporarily stop the flow of the discharge line by sharply bending vinyl tubing.
  • Water level will rise beyond the high level of primary control float until the safety float switch breaks the “Y” thermostat circuit shutting down the air conditioner condensing unit.
  • Unbend the tube and the pump will empty the tank.
  • Replace inlet line into pump inlet.

MAINTENANCE & TROUBLE SHOOTING

WARNING!
Turn off electrical power at the fuse box before making any line voltage connections.
The wiring must comply with local codes.
Use the National Electrical Code if local code is nonexistent.

All Beckett Pumps are carefully tested prior to shipment to ensure long, trouble-free service. However, if the pump is used in a dirty environment or is pumping anything other than clear,  condensate water, the tank should be removed and cleaned periodically with soap and water. If the pump fails to run, please check the following:

PROBLEM REMEDY
1) Jammed control or safety float rod. 1) Check for interference with up and

down movement. The lever on the switch should rise and then “click” asthe float is pushed all the way up. It should then lower and “click” as the float is allowed to come all the waydown.
2) Plugged discharge tube.| 2) Unscrew the 3/8” barbed check-valve at the pump discharge and check for obstructions.
3) Floats not operating properly.| 3) Clean the float rod and tank with detergent.
4) Motor fails to run or runs intermittently.| 4) Check for blown fuse. Check for stalled motor due to obstruction in the pump.

NOTE: Motor is protected by an automatic thermal overload. This may cause it to stop. Shut off power and allow 20 minutes for the motor to cool before restarting. If the motor smells burned  or scorched, replace.

  • The pump motor contains permanently lubricated bearings. Under normal operating conditions further lubrications is not necessary.
  • Always replace cover to keep electrical parts clear of dust and grime.
  • Call your Service Technician for conditions you cannot correct.

WIRING
LINE VOLTAGE: If it is necessary to install a receptacle in the furnace/air conditioner area, connect only to a constant source of the nameplate voltage. Be sure that you do not connect into a  fan or limit control circuit.
LOW VOLTAGE: Connect the high-level safety switch leads to the thermostat control circuit of the air conditioner. NOTE: Motor is protected by an automatic thermal overload. This may cause it to stop.
