Roco 51340 z21 Start Digital Set
Product Information
The Modelleisenbahn GmbH is a locomotive model that requires assembly and maintenance. The package includes a user manual with operating and maintenance instructions. The locomotive is suitable for use with the ROCO track system with a minimum radius of R2 (358 mm). The locomotive can also be used in digital mode by removing the jumper from the interface and connecting the chip plug as shown in fig. 3. The locomotive can be fitted with different couplings, but the ROCO close coupling is recommended.
Product Usage Instructions
Starting Locomotive Operation
- Unpack the model cautiously with foil as shown in fig. 1.
- Before use, let the locomotive run forwards and backward without load for 30 minutes each to obtain optimal circuit and best tractive power.
- The locomotive will run smoothly on clean tracks only. Use the ROCO track cleaning van or ROCO track cleaning rubber to remove heavy dirt.
- Operation is possible with different couplings, but use the ROCO close coupling for best results.
- To run in digital mode, remove the jumper from the interface and connect the chip plug as shown in fig. 3.
Maintenance of the Model
To enjoy your model for a long time, it is necessary to service it regularly (i.e., after approximately 30 hours of operation).
- Clean wheel contacts using a small brush to remove dirt from spots marked in fig. 4.
- Lubricate spots marked in fig. 6 using tiny oil drops and ROCO oiler. Prior to lubrication, dismantle the locomotive as shown in fig. 2. Use ROCO special grease (item no. 10905) for lubricating gear parts (e.g., cogwheels, worm).
- Change the traction tire by removing the gear cover (fig. 7), taking out the wheelset, and removing the old traction tire using a pin or a fine screwdriver. When pressing on the new traction tire, avoid twisting it.
- To change the motor, remove the loco body (fig. 2) and then the motor (fig. 8).
During assembly, take care of the correct position of contacts.
Safety instructions
This product may only be used in closed rooms. Do not expose the model to direct sunlight, severe temperature fluctuations or high air humidity.
Starting locomotive operation
Unwrap model
ake out the model cautiously with foil.
Operating instructions
- Before use is advisable to let the loco go around about 30 minutes forward an 30 minutes backward without load, to obtain an optimal circuit and best tractive power.
- The smallest radius this model should run is R2 of the ROCO track system (R2 = 358 mm). Your locomotive will run smoothly on clean tracks only. For this purpose, we recommend using item no. 46400, ROCO track cleaning van, or item no. 10002, ROCO track cleaning rubber, for removing heavy dirt.
Fittings: Operation is possible with different couplings (fig. 5). We recommend using the ROCO close coupling. In the enclosed accessory bag you will find small kits to be fitted on your locomotive. Please mount them cautiously. Attention! Use glue only if indicated.
Running in digital mode
Remove the jumper from the interface. Finally put the plug of the chip into the interface as shown in fig. 3.
Maintenance of the model
To enjoy your model for a long time, it is necessary to service it regularly (i.e. after it has been in operation for approximately 30 hours).
Cleaning of wheel contacts
Wheel contacts easily get dirty on tracks that are not entirely clean. Use a small brush to remove dirt from spots marked in fig. 4.
Lubrication
Apply tiny oil drops to spots marked in fig. 6. Prior to lubrication dismantle the locomotive (fig. 2). We recommend using item no. 10906, ROCO oiler. For lubrication the gear parts (e.g. cogwheels, worm) we would recommend our ROCO special grease (item no. 10905).
Attention
Please do not oil these parts when using our grease.
Change of traction tire
Remove the gear cover (fig. 7). Take out the wheelset and remove the traction tire using a pin or a fine screwdriver (fig. 7). When pressing on the new traction tire please avoid twisting it.
Motor Changing
First, remove the loco body (fig. 2), and then the motor (fig. 8).
Assembly
During assembly please take care of the correct position of contacts.
