Operation Guide
Remote control
The blue backlight on the display stays on for approximately 30 seconds after
a button press. After that with no button press, the blue backlight shuts off
first, and if no button is pressed within another five minutes, the display
shuts off and the remote control goes into battery condervation mode. Pressing
any button will turn the display back on.
Trainer
To turn the trainer on, press and hold the On/Off button until the green LED
light comes on. Release the On/Off Button and if the trainer is in normal
mode, the green LED will flash once every five seconds, indicating the trainer
is on and ready to receive a signal from the remote control. To turn the
trainer off, press and hold the On/Off button until the red LED light shuts
off. (This takes approximately three seconds) After that release the On/Off
button.
Note: To extend the life of the batteries, turn the trainer off when it
is not in use.
How the remote control buttons work
-
Sprayt force selection
The spray force is adjusted by one level each with the up and down keys. -
Tone only button [upper button .. TONE”)
Sends an audible tone to the trainer. No Spraytion is delivered. -
Spray only button [middle button .. SPRAY”)
Delivers Spray through the contact area on the remote control at the level shown on the digital display. When held down for ten consecutive seconds, the trainer will “time-out”, and Spray cannot be delivered for five seconds. You must release and press the button again after the five second time-out period, before additional Spray can be delivered. -
Dog Toggle Switch [lower button .. 112″)
The switch button allows the user to choose between two different trainers. Thus two trainers can be used with one remote control.
PetTec-Tipp:
To connect a second trainer, please set the toggle switch to 2 and switch on
the trainer to be connected. The new trainer connects to the remote control by
simultaneously pressing the tone signal and spray buttons.
Fit the collar
The trainer should be fitted so that the contact area presses firmly against
the dog’s skin. When properly fitted, you should be able to fit a finger or
two snugly in between the collar and the dog’s skin. When properly fitted,
the trainer should not move on the dog. The best location for the trainer is
directly under the dogs snout.
A loose fit can allow the trainer to move around on the dog’s neck. When this happens, the contact area may rub the skin and cause irritation. If the trainer is too tight, the dog may have difficulty breathing.
How to find the best Spray level
The PetTec Remote Spray Trainer 4.0 offers up to 3 different spray
intensities. Level 1 is the weakest signal and level 3 the strongest. The
level of spray intensity best suited for your dog depends on your dog’s
temperament and threshold for spraying. Always start at the lowest level and
work your way up.
The appropriate level can be found when the dog responds to the spray with a
mild reaction, such as a tensing of the neck muscles. The spray level may vary
depending on the training situation. When highly distracted, dogs will require
a higher spray level.
How to maximize the distance
The unit has a 300 meter range. The range may vary depending on the way the
remote control is held. Hold the remote control away from your body to receive
the greatest range. For maximum signal strength, keep the devices properly
charged.
LCD and LED indicator
- Indicates Spray intensity ranging from 1 – 3.
- Indicates the active trainer.
- Indicates battery’s power level. Note: The battery indicator will flash every second to indicate low battery.

Proper dog training
Proper training is the key to a harmonious coexistence between dog and owner.
But we can often reach the limits of their abilities when training our four-
legged friends. The Remote Spray Trainer 4.0 is a gentle dog-training aid
which helps to effectively discourage your pet from undesirable behaviors.
With the Remote Spray Trainer 4.0 you can intervene directly, even from a
distance, to immediately react to bad habits. Most dogs permanently adjust
their behavior after just one or two uses of the trainer. Please note that the
trainer is a training device and not a toy, and always should be used with
care. So at this point we ask you to observe the following guidelines:
Before training
- Be sure that your dog’s undesirable behavior is not a result of insufficient physical activity or health problems. In this case please do not use the Trainer, and seek professional advice.
- Get your dog accustomed to the Trainer collar before you turn it on.
- For safety, do not a low your dog to swim while wearing the Trainer. The collar’s weight or the spray function could hinder your dog’s ability to swim. If the Trainer gets wet, simply let it dry. After exposure to water, never open the rubber cover to the charging connector, to prevent moisture from getting into the Trainer.
During training
- Immediately remove the trainer if your dog appears agitated!
- Always use the trainer in a controlled manner. Just as with normal training, it helps to give clear commands. Your dog must first learn these to be able to react appropriately to them.
- Train your dog for a maximum of 1-2 hours per day. Remove the trainer after each training session and turn it off.
- Always reward your dog after a successful training session.
