Product Information

The product is a face shield that provides protection against impact hazards, such as metal or wood chips and small flying objects. The shield is impact- resistant but not unbreakable. Personal eye and face protective devices alone should not be relied on to provide complete protection against hazards, but should be used in conjunction with the machine guards, engineering controls, and sound manufacturing and personal safety practices. The shield has a mesh design that allows 62.1% light transmittance and is made of polycarbonate material that blocks over 99.9% UVA, UVB, and UVC rays.

ASSEMBLY

Attaching/Removing Face Shield and Brim

  1. To install the brim, turn the hard hat/helmet adapter on both sides in the correct position with hard hat or helmet facing downward. These release tabs will engage in the forward most accessory slots of the hard hat/helmet.

  2. Ensure the adapter tabs are adjusted for proper use on hard hat/helmet. If needed, remove the adapter tabs from the brim on both sides. To re-move the adapter, push the unlock tab at the center of the adapter and pull the adapter to separate from the brim.

  3. Rotate the adapter with the intended use facing downward. After repositioning, be sure to push the adapters in their respective side firmly back into the brim frame until they securely “click” into position.

  4. Once adapters are adjusted properly for the intended application, slide the adapter tabs down through the front accessory slots on the hard hat/helmet until they securely “click” into position.
NOTE: Face shields are acceptable to use in the reverse don position only on MILWAUKEE Hard Hats that have the reverse don symbol.

  5. To remove the brim, turn the hard hat/helmet over to access the inside of the hard hat/helmet. Locate the release tabs where they protrude to the underside of the hard hat/helmet. Press the release tab on both sides and push upwards through the accessory slots of the hard hat/helmet.

  6. Pull brim and face shield away from hard hat/helmet.

Replacing the Face Shield

  1. Remove the face shield assembly from the hard hat/helmet.

  2. On the side covers of the brim, just below the MILWAUKEE logo, locate the lock tab at the back edge of the cover identified by the unlock .

  3. Pull the lock tab out away from the face shield; once it is visible, the lock tab and the mating lock feature of the shield are no longer overlapping, rotate the cover component forward without rotating the shield. Repeat this step to both sides of the shield. NOTE: Push the face shield inwards, while pulling the locking tab out, then rotate forward. Pushing on the face shield is critical for removal.

  4. With the cover rotated forward, approximately 90 degrees, the shield can be pulled down to separate from the pivot assembly of the brim.

  5.  To reinstall a shield to the brim, reverse the procedure. The curved leading edge of the shield as it is inserted in the pivot of the brim ensure the leading edge is slid beneath the lip on the mating surface of the pivot (Fig. 1 and 2).

  6. Once the leading edge is fully inserted into the brim pivot, rotate the cover plate backward to the locked position until it securely “clicks” (Fig. 3).

  7. After the shield is installed, (Fig. 4) cycle the shield to the full up and full down positions twice to ensure all components are fully engaged. If the shield would dislodge and separate during this step, an error was made during the re-installation. Repeat the shield installation steps again. Ensure the proper position and full engagement of the shield leading edge where it seats in the pivot and cover components.

Using the Headlamp Bracket

  1. Install face shield to hard hat/helmet before installing headlamp bracket or MILWAUKEE hard hat light.
  2. To install a headlamp, remove manufacturer’s headband from the light.
  3. Remove the elastic band from the bracket.
  4. Install the headlamp onto the elastic band by weaving the middle section of the band through the opening on the back of the headlamp.
  5. Weave the elastic band end loops through the opening of the bracket’s plastic mounting arms. Ensure the headlamp faces outward.
  6. Once the headlamp is securely mounted on the bracket, install the bracket onto the hard hat/helmet by gripping the ends and engaging the rails at the front or rear face of the hard hat/helmet. Slide downward towards the brim until it securely “clicks” into place.
  7. Pull on the bracket to ensure it is secure on the hard hat/helmet.
  8. To remove, place fingers under the top tab, push into the hat to release the latch, and pull upwards.
NOTE: It is up to the user’s discretion if the headlamp is compatible with other BOLT™ products. If unable to properly install headlamp, use an alternate headlamp.
