MUSICAL FIDELITY M6x 250.4 Power Amplifier
Product Information
The product is a multi-channel amplifier available in 4, 5, 7, and 11
channels. The user manual is available in multiple languages on the website of
the manufacturer, Musical Fidelity. The amplifier is designed to provide
trouble-free performance and is equipped with safety features to protect it
from damage caused by electrical storms. The product has various input and
output connections, including RCA output, speaker outputs, unbalanced RCA
input, and balanced XLR input. The product also comes with a standard IEC
mains cable.
Product Usage Instructions
Safety Information
Before using the product, it is essential to observe a few precautions. Do not open the equipment as it can invalidate any warranty claim. To protect the system during electrical storms, remove the mains plugs. The appliance must be earthed.
Installation
The unit should be placed on a stable, horizontal surface where there is no risk of it being knocked or subjected to vibration suchas from loudspeakers. The product should be cleaned with a moist cloth, and solvents, white spirit or thinners should not be used as they could damage the surface finish.
Audio Output Connections
The RCA output can be used to feed another amp module or amplifier with the
same signal if you want to use two modules to bi-amplify speakers. The speaker
output terminals for each channel are located below the XLR inputs. The top
terminal of each channel is the positive (red) output and connects to the
positive input of
your speaker. The bottom terminal of each channel is the negative (black)
output and connects to the negative input of your speaker. The terminals
accept naked wire, spade connectors, or banana plugs.
Input Connections
The product has one unbalanced RCA input and one balanced XLR input available for each amplifier channel. Connect the unbalanced RCA input to the corresponding RCA output of your preamplifier. If you have XLR outputs on your preamplifier, use these whenever possible. Balanced connections offer many advantages compared to unbalanced connections.
Power Connections
The unit is supplied with a standard IEC mains cable which plugs into the IEC socket at the back of the unit.
Interconnects
Musical Fidelity does not make any interconnecting cables other than those supplied with the unit. If necessary, please refer to the dealer who can advise on quality cables for any particular setup.
Standard XLR Balanced Input/Output Lead Connections
The product comes with standard XLR balanced input/output lead connections.
Safety Information
This unit is designed and built to provide trouble-free performance. As with all electronic devices it is necessary to observe a few precautions:
- Heed all warnings shown on the back of the product.
- Only connect the unit to a mains outlet having the same voltage as marked at the back of the unit.
- Always ensure that when disconnecting and reconnecting your audio equipment the mains supply is switched off.
- Position the mains lead and signal interconnects where they are not likely to be walked on or trapped by items placed on them.
- Do not use near water, or place water-filled containers on the device, for example, a flower vase or potted plants. If water does spill inside, immediately pull out the mains plug from the wall socket and inform the dealer, who should then check the unit before further use. Entry of liquid into the device is dangerous and may cause electric shock or fire hazard.
- Do not place the unit near direct heat sources such as radiators, direct sunlight or other equipment.
- Do not remove any covers or try to gain access to the inside. There are no user adjustments or fuses to change without qualification. Refer all service work to an authorized Musical Fidelity agent
Note: Unauthorized opening of the eq uipment will invalidate any warranty claim.
The electronics in modern hi-fi equipment are complex and may, therefore, be adversely affected or damaged by lightning. For protection of the system during electrical storms, remove the mains plugs. If after-sales service is required, to help the dealer identify the product please quote the serial number located on the rear panel of the unit.
WARNING – This appliance MUST be earthed.

Installation
Introduction
This unit has been designed for maximum performance. It easily powers your
speakers at high levels and allows you to fully enjoy audio and video sources
with great dynamics.
Note: In normal operation, the unit dissipates a small quantity of power at all times, and it is important that it is adequately ventilated. The device must be protected from humidity – if the unit is moved from a cold place to a warm room, leave the unit for an hour or so to allow sufficient time for the moisture to evaporate.
Cleaning
Before cleaning the unit, switch off power at the mains switch and remove the
mains plug from the wall socket. Clean the cabinet and remote-control unit
using a moist cloth. Using solvents, white spirit or thinners is not advised,
as they could damage the surface finish.
Installation
Position the unit on a stable, horizontal surface where there is no risk of it
being knocked or subjected to vibration such as from loudspeakers.
Power Connections
The unit is supplied with a standard IEC mains cable which plugs into the IEC
socket at the back of the unit.
Standard XLR Balanced input/output lead connections
(for reference only, no XLR signal leads supplied)
Audio Output Connections
- RCA output: If you want to use two modules to bi-amplify speakers, or would like to bi-amplify using another power amp, you can use this output to feed another amp module or amplifier with the same signal.
- Speaker outputs: The speaker output terminals for each channel are located below the XLR inputs. The top terminal of each channel is the positive (red) output and connects to the positive input of your speaker. The bottom terminal of each channel is the negative (black) output and connects to the negative input of your speaker. The terminals accept naked wire, spade connectors or banana plugs.
Input connections
UNBALANCED RCA input: One unbalanced RCA input is available for each amplifier
channel. Connect this to the corresponding RCA output of your preamplifier.
BALANCED XLR input: One balanced XLR input is available for each amplifier
channel. Connect this to the corresponding XLR output of your preamplifier. If
you have XLR outputs on your preamplifier, use these whenever possible.
Balanced connections offer many advantages compared to unbalanced connections.
Interconnects
Note: Musical Fidelity currently do not make any interconnecting cables other
than those supplied with the unit. If necessary, please refer to the dealer
who can advise on quality cables for any particular setup..

Troubleshooting
Problem | Probable Cause | Remedy |
---|
No power
| Power plug is not inserted into socket correctly.| ****
Plug in securely into unit’s IEC socket.
Excessive hum from system speakers.
| ****
Audio connector plug not fully pushed in. Cable Fault.
Unsuitable Cable (e.g. cable grounds not connected).
| ****
Insert plug securely. Check cable is connected at both ends. Some “esoteric” cables have internal wiring intentionally disconnected/modified. For best results on all inputs, please use good quality screened coax; signal and screen directly connected both ends.
Amplifier will not turn on
| ****
Power switch not in ON position Power mode switch in wrong position
| ****
Check the power switch on the back & put it in ON position Check the power mode switch.
