Carpet Extractor Machine Operations Manual & Trouble Shooting Guide
This is an introduction on the use of the Polivac Predator MK II Carpet
Extraction unit.
Directions for Use (Please refer to picture as well in next page)
- Connect 240v extension cable from power source to #1 (Figure 3) power socket on unit.
- Now connect the Male end of the solution hose to the Female solution outlet on the front of the unit (FIGURE 1).
- Connect the Female solution end to the Male fitting on the trigger of the steam cleaning wand (FIGURE 2).
- Ensure dump valve and booster inlet are closed if these are not in use.
- Fill the machine with either cold or hot water. We always recommend pre-spraying the carpet rather than the use of Chemical solutions and powders run through the machine, for a number of reasons, 1 this gives better results as the chemical has had time to “work” on the carpets, 2 st nd when you extract with fresh water, you remove more chemical residue which prevents re-soiling and chemical build-up. Finally, it extends the life of your pump, the use of high alkaline chemicals can cause premature failure not covered by warranty. NEVER USE FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS OR SOLVENTS IN THE STEAM CLEANER
- The heater switch #2 (Figure 3) can now be selected and as power is connected the switch will light up RED and this will commence the heater working. `
- Water is now being heated up.
- Connect the G Vac hose to the domes nose and the other end to the wand end. (FIGURE 1, 2)
- Change position of the rocker switch #2 (Figure 3) to “Pump” position. Then press pump “Round” #3 (Figure 3) switch and vacuum “Round” #4&5 (Figure 3) switches accordingly. switch on the dirt water pump “Round” switch at the same time (if it has an auto empty unit installed).
- Dirt water will steadily suck into the machine with vacuum motors working. Once dirt water reaches the optimum level in the recovery tank, the whole machine will stop. This optimum level is controlled by a float switch installed in the recovery tank.
- The customer should push all round buttons to the off position and should empty the dirt water tank before bringing the machine back to operations.
- No need to follow step # 10 for auto carpet extractor, as these varieties will automatically empty the recovery tank using the auto empty pump installed in the machine.
- MK2 & MK3 Auto has a monel screen installed in the recovery tank in order to stop finer dirt from going in the auto empty pump. It is important to clean this model screen regularly to turn the auto empty function efficiently.
FIGURE 1
- Connect the supplied hoses to the above-pictured connection. To connect the solution hose, push the sleeve back on the brass socket insert the male plug then release.
- To connect the vacuum hose just insert the black hose cuff into the plastic pipe.
FIGURE 2
- Connect the female solution hose fitting to the male wand connector and slide the cuff over the end of the wand.
- You may need to replace the trigger kit.

Predator MKII Booster inlet
-
Figure 5 shows the booster inlet in the closed position
-
Figure 6 shows the inlet opened to connect the vac hose and booster box.
-
The inlet opens by hand only and will close itself after use.
-
A standard wand only requires 350 to 400 psi, any more may result in unnecessary damage to the wand and trigger system.
-
It is recommended that the upholstery tool or stair tool pressure is 150 psi.
-
To measure the pressure, engage the trigger on your device then adjust accordingly using the pressure control knob.
General Maintenance & Troubleshooting Guide
Maintenance
The key to keeping the unit in good working order is general maintenance.
Follow the below procedure for the best result with the unit.
- Must Empty dirt water and clean water from tanks after each use.
-
Water filter
• Clean Monel screen and filter basket -
Lint deflector
• Clean the filter screen if any dirt is stuck there as it will affect suction power -
Oil level
• Check the oil level of the predator pump. If less, then please fill to half level. Oil of the pump need to be changed every 500 hours for the predator -
Floor tool
• Remove built-up Lint from the opening of the wand.
• Please change jets of the wands when required (when tips of the jets worn- out pressure would drop, and user will notice an unusual spray of solution). -
Vac motors
• No maintenance can be done but use Antifoam to prevent chemicals and water from entering motors and causing faults.
Troubleshooting Fault Remedy
-
No Power to the unit
• Check power cable and power from a source
• Check the water in the front tank. If full, then the machine stops completely -
Heater not working
• Check pump/heater switch is switched to the heater and not pump
• Check the water in the front tank. If full, then the machine stops completely -
Pump not working
• Check pump/heater switch is switched to pump and not heater check thermal reset button and depress to engage.
• Check the water in the back tank. If water is less than the float switch level, then the pump does not work -
No water coming from the floor tool
• pump is running
• Check water level is enough
• Check floor tool jets for blockage
• Check water tanks filter for blockage
• Check hose connection of the solution hose -
Vac motors not working
• Check both switches are on Glowing Red
• Check the water in the front tank. If full, then the machine stops completely -
Vac motors is working but less suction
