  • The socket has to be easily accessible so that the power cable can be removed easily in case of emergency.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

For safe and fault-free operation of the unit, the following requirements have to be met during the electrical connection:

  • Before connecting the unit, compare the connecting data (voltage and frequency) on the type plate with those of your energy network. These details must correspond so that no damage occurs to the unit. In case of uncertainty, contact a qualified electrician.
  • The socket has to be protected at least by a 10 amps circuit breaker.
  • Make sure that the power cable is not damaged and is not laid across hot surfaces or sharp edges.
  • The connecting cable must not be stretched tightly.
  • The electric safety of the unit is ensured only when it is connected to a socket with protective conductor installed correctly. Operation on a socket without protective conductor is forbidden. PRIOR TO FIRST USE
This unit brings water to the boil within a few minutes.
Fill the unit with clear cold water and re-boil it in order to clean the unit. Pour out the re-boiled water.
INITIAL OPERATION

  • Take the base station and wind up the cable as far as possible.
  • Insert the plug into the socket.
  • Remove the lid.
  • Fill the electric kettle with a maximum of 1 litre of water. Do not exceed the maximum fill-level marking. The water would bubble over when boiling.
  • Place the lid back on.
  • Place the electric kettle onto the base station and switch on the unit. The control light illumi- nates blue.

IMPORTANT!
Make sure that the maximum fill mark is not exceeded. Fill the unit so that the water level is between the minimum and the maximum fill-level marking. Burns / scalding may be caused by effervescent water.

  • Once the brewing process is finished, the unit will automatically switch off. The control light goes out.
  • Slowly pout the water into a cup or similar container.
  • Put the unit back onto the base station.

IMPORTANT!
If requested, you can re-boil the water by pressing the on/off switch again. Wait with it approx. 30 seconds after the unit has automatically switched off.
BOIL-DRY AND OVERHEAT PROTECTION
This unit has been fitted with a dry-out and overheat protection. If it should happen that you operate the unit without water or with too little water, the unit will switch off.
Wait for a short moment until the unit has cooled down. Fill  the unit with water and continue asusual.
LIFT-OFF SHUTDOWN
Should you remove the unit from the base station during the boiling process, the unit will switch off itself. This is the so-called lift-off shutdown.
CLEANING OUTSIDE
Remove the plug from the socket and let the unit cool down. Use a soft and moist cloth to clean the outer surfaces of the unit. Use a mild detergent in case of heavy soiling.
Clean the unit and never hold the base station under running water and never immerse it into water.
REMOVAL OF STAINLESS STEEL ANTI-LIMESCALE FILTER
The removable stainless steel anti-limescale filter prevents that limescale and dirt particles are poured out along with the water. For simple cleaning, the stainless steel anti-limescale filter can be removed.

  • Remove the filter when the electric kettle has cooled down.
  • From the front, press the filter inwards through the spout and pull it out backwards.
  • Clean the scale filter under running water.
  • For placing, press the scale filter into the outlet from the inside.

DECALCIFYING / INSIDE CLEANING
Depending on the degree of hardness of the water in your region, lime deposits will develop at the bottom and on the inside wall of the Glass container from time to time. The harder the water, the faster limit deposits will develop.
Descale the unit in regular intervals, because too much scale can affect the performance of the unit. A defect which can be traced back to lacking descaling is not covered by
warranty!
If you regularly decalcify the unit, this will increase the service life of your unit. For decalcifying, we recommend to use Graef descaling tablets which are matched to our units. The descaling  tablets are available in our online shop www.graef.de under article No. 145618. Moreover,  water also causes soiling on the inside of the container, which can also be removed by regular descaling.
Process:

  • Fill the unit with water up to the maximum fill-level marking.
  • Insert the descaling tablet, allow the tablet approx. 5 minutes to dissolve.
  • Re-boil the decalcifying mixture.
  • Empty the unit, and rinse it several times with clear water.
We do not assume any liability for lack of or insufficient descaling. In this case, the warranty will become null and void.

TWO-YEAR WARRANTY

As from the date of purchase we assume manufacturer warranty of twenty-four months for defects which can be traced back to manufacturing and material defect. Your legal warranty claim in conformity with Section 437 et seq. of the German Civil Code (BGB) shall remain unaffected by this regulation. The guarantee does not cover any damage which is caused by incorrect handling or use as well as defects which only slightly influence the function or the value of the unit. We do not assume any liability for damage caused by lack of or insufficient descaling and maintenance. In this case, the warranty will also become null and void. Exclusively use Graef original descaling tablets. Moreover, transport damage provided we are not responsible shall be excluded from the claims under guarantee. Guarantee shall be ruled out for damage, the repair of which has not been carried out by us or one of our representations. In case of justified complaints, we shall repair the defective product or replace it by a product without defects at our discretion.
