Artic-160

The Artic-160 is a portable air conditioning unit designed for home use. It is a product of the MC HAUS brand and is compatible with the Tuya Smart App, Alexa, and Google Home for remote control. INTRODUCTION

  • Thank you for choosing this mobile air conditioner to provide you and your family with all the requirements of “Home Comfort” for your home, house or office. The unit can be moved from room to room within your home and setup in just minutes.
  • It is a multifunctional room air exchanger, air processing device, designed to offer you the functions of: air conditioning, dehumidification, independent fan and heating.
  • The external static pressure at which the device was tested is 0 Mpa.
  • This manual will provide you with valuable information necessary for the proper care and maintenance of your new appliance. Please take a few moments and read the instructions thoroughly. If properly maintained, your appliance will give you many years of trouble-free operation.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

You can contact our Technical Service Department for questions about installation or maintenance, troubleshooting and for the purchase of spare parts and/or accessories. Keep this instruction manual for future reference. Consult all product documentation, packaging and labels before use.
Read and understand all warnings and safety instructions carefully before using this machine. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Do not use this product if any of its components are damaged.

This machine is designed to be operated by adult users who have read and understood these instructions. Do not allow minors and persons who do not understand these instructions to operate the machine. Before using this machine, familiarise yourself with the machine. Make sure you know where all the controls, safety devices are located and how to use them.

PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Be alert and use common sense when operating this machine.
  • Never operate the machine with defective guards or without safety devices.
  • Keep the air conditioner 50 cm away from surrounding objects.
  • Place the air conditioner in a flat and dry place.
  • Keep the air inlet and outlet free of obstructions.
  • Do not use this machine if you are tired, or after taking drugs, alcohol and/or medication.
  • Keep the product away from fuels, cooking stoves and heat sources.
  • Do not place objects on top of the appliance or in the air inlet or outlet.
ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes and be installed by a qualified electrician. If you have any questions regarding the following instructions, contact a qualified electrician.
  • Verify the available power supply and resolve any wiring problems prior to installation and operation of this unit.
  • For your safety and protection, this unit is grounded through the power cord plug when plugged into a matching outlet. If you are not sure whether the wall outlets in your home are properly grounded, consult an electrician. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacture, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury when operating your air conditioner, follow these basic precautions:

  1. Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.

  2. Do not remove prong from ground.

  3. Do not use an adapter.

  4. Do not use an extension cord.

  5. Disconnect the air conditioner before performing maintenance.

  6. Use two or more persons to move and install the air conditioner.

  7. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  8. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

  9. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

  10. The appliance shall be installed in accordance with national wiring regulations.

  11. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

You choose the best place

  1. Next to a window, door or French window.
  2. Keep a minimum distance of 60 cm between the return air outlet and the wall or other obstacles.
  3. Attach one end of the air hose to the air outlet at the bottom of the appliance.
  4. Extend the air hose to ensure that the other end of the air hose has a clearance between the window.
  5. The air outlet or air inlet must not be blocked by a protective grille or any other obstacle.
INSTALLING THE EXHAUST AIR DUCT

Connecting the connectors to the exhaust air duct

  1. Extend the exhaust air duct by pulling out the two ends of the duct.
  2. Screw the exhaust air duct into the connector of the exhaust air duct.
  3. AtorScrew the window connector into the plastic connector.
  4. Connect the air outlet duct connector to the unit.

NOTE: The figures in this manual are based on the external view of a standard model. Consequently, the shape may differ from that of the air conditioner you have selected. Mc Haus reserves the right to change the technical characteristics without prior notice.

  1. Insert plate A into plate B according to the direction of the arrow in the drawing in Fig. 1.
  2. The assembly is completed as illustrated in the drawing in Fig. 2, the consumer can adjust plate A up or down according to the height of the window.
  3. Install the exhaust air duct and its accessories on the window kit according to the direction of the arrow in the drawing in Fig3.
  4. Install the exhaust air duct, window kit, and its fittings as shown in the drawing in Fig4.
  5. Open the window where you need to install the exhaust air duct, window kit, and its accessories.
  6. Install the exhaust air duct, window kit, and its accessories on the window, and then close the window according to the direction of the arrow in the drawing in Fig6 to press the window kit firmly.
  7. Install the exhaust air duct, window kit and its accessories on the window according to the drawing in Fig. 7.
  8. Connect the other end of the exhaust air duct and its fittings to the portable air conditioner.
  9. The air outlet duct and its fittings are finished as shown in Fig. 9.
  10. Assemble the whole unit as shown in the drawing in Figure 10.

REMOTE CONTROL
  • Pressing this button will switch the appliance on or off.
  • Used to set the room temperature and timer.
  • Used to activate the automatic on/off.
  • Press this button to select the different operating modes.
  • This button is used to select the fan speed in sequence.
  • Select/deselect the mode of operation.
CONTROL PANEL OPERATIONS

Turn on the unit

  • Plug in, then the unit beeps.
  • Press the button, then the unit turns on. The led displays the room temperature and operates in automatic mode.

Select the operating mode

  • Press the button to select the desired mode shown below.

Set the temperature

  • The temperature can be adjusted within a range of 15ºC to 31ºC by 1ºC.
  • Press + or increase or decrease the temperature by 1ºC by pressing once.
  • The led unit displays the target temperature for 5 seconds and then displays the room temperature.

Select the fan speed

  • Press the button to select the desired mode as shown below

On/Off

  • When you press the button a second time, the unit will beep and turn off.

MAIN MODALITIES

Mode

  1. Once the Operation mode ****is selected, the internal temperature sensor automatically selects either the or mode.
  2. When the ambient temperature is > 24ºC the device will automatically select the mode.

Mode

  1. The overhead centrifugal fan will run at a low speed and the speed can not be adjusted.
  2. The compressor. The downward centrifugal fan will stop after running for 8 min. Its operation will start again after 6 min.
  3. The device adopts constant temperature dehumidification mode and the temperature setting is not effective.

Mode

  1. When the room temperature is higher than the set temperature, the compressor starts running.
  2. When the room temperature is lower than the set temperature, the compressor stops and runs at the automatic speed.

Mode

  1. The up centrifugal fan runs at the set speed and the compressor does not run.
  2. The temperature setting is not effective.

MAIN MODALITIES

Mode

  1. Press the “Timer” button to set the automatic shutdown time while the unit is running.
  2. Press the “Timer” button to set the auto power on time while the unit is ready.
    • The time can be set within a range of 1h to 24h.
  3. Press the or button to increase or decrease by 1 hour by pressing 1 time.

Mode

  1. The operation ****is effective when the unit is in mode.
  2. Press the button ****in mode, then the unit will operate in standby mode and the up centrifugal fan will automatically rotate at low speed. The set temperature will increase by 1ºC after one hour and will increase by 2ºC after two hours. After six hours, the unit will stop operating.

WARNING:
The main control board has memory function, when the unit is ready to run, but in stop state, the main control board can memorize the initialization of working mode. When the device is active, it will work with the same working mode as the last time, without resetting the working mode again. This condition is not available when the unit is in mode

HOW TO INSTALL THE BATTERIES

Slide the cover open.
Make sure the direction is correct.

  1. Open the back cover and remove the insulating film from the batteries ;
  2. Insert the batteries into the slot, with the anode and cathode in the correct directions;
  3. Replace the back cover.

Warnings:

  1. The anode and cathode of the batteries must correspond to the “+” and “-” signs on the remote control;
  2. Do not use new batteries together with old batteries;
  3. If the batteries are not used for a long period of time, remove them.
  4. To avoid environmental pollution, remove used batteries and dispose of them safely and properly.

OPERATION

To operate the air conditioner, point the remote controller at the signal receiver: the remote controller will operate the air conditioner at a distance of up to 5 m when pointing at the signal receiver of the air conditioner.

PROTECTION

The protection device trips and stops the application in the following cases.

Cooling

  • The indoor temperature of the room is above 43°C. The indoor room temperature is below 15ºC.

Dehumidification

  • The temperature is below 15°C.
  • If the air conditioner is operated in cooling mode or dry mode with the door or the wind door open for a long time when the relative humidity is above 80%, dew may drip from the outlet.

The protection device will operate in the following cases.

  • To restart the unit immediately after operation stops or to change the mode during operation, you must wait for 3 minutes. If the plug is pulled out, when restarting the unit, the unit will return to the original mode, the ON timer and OFF timer must be set again.

SPECIAL REMINDER

  • There is a hidden condensation water recycling in this unit. The condensate water is kept partially recycled between the condenser and the water plate.

  • When the water level rises to the upper level, the float switch and the water full indicator (E4) light up to remind you to drain the water.

  • Please turn off the power supply, move the appliance to a suitable place, remove the drain plug, drain the water completely.

  • After draining, replace the plug, or the appliance may leak and wet the room.

  • If the appliance is placed in a position that accepts drain water, you can also connect the drain hose to the drain port to drain the water.

MAINTENANCE

  1. Switch off the power supply. First switch off the appliance before disconnecting it from the mains.
  2. Clean with a soft, dry cloth.
  3. Use lukewarm water (below 40ºC) to clean if the appliance is very dirty.
  4. Never use volatile substances such as petrol or polishing powder to clean the appliance.
  5. Never spray water on the main unit, it is really dangerous!

It is necessary to clean the air filter after using it for about 100 hours. Clean it as follows.

  1. Stop the appliance and remove the air filter.
  2. Clean and reinstall the air filter.
  3. If the device is very dirty, wash it with a solution of detergent in warm water. 3-After cleaning, dry it in a cool, shady place and reinstall it.
  4. Clean the air filter every two weeks if the device is operated in a high dust environment.

MAINTENANCE AFTER USE

  1. If the appliance is not going to be used for a long time, be sure to remove the primary and secondary rubber plug from the drain hole to drain the water.
  2. Keep the appliance running with the fan only for half a day on a sunny day to dry the inside of the appliance. Prevent mould and mildew.
  3. Stop the appliance and unplug it from the mains socket, then remove the batteries from the remote control and store the appliance properly.
  4. Clean the air filter and reinstall it.
  5. Remove the air hoses and store them properly. Tightly plug the hole.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The following cases may not always be a malfunction. Please check the suggestions below before requesting service.

It does not work

  1. If the protector trips or the fuse is blown.
  2. Please wait for 3 minutes and restart; the protective device may be preventing the unit from operating.
  3. If the batteries in the remote control are exhausted.
  4. If the plug is not properly connected.

Runs for a short time

  1. If the set temperature is close to the room temperature, you can reduce the set temperature.
  2. The air outlet is blocked by an obstacle. Remove the obstacle.

It works but does not cool

  1. If the door or the window is open.
  2. If there is another appliance operating with heat, such as a heater or a lamp etc…
  3. The air filter is dirty, please clean it.
  4. The air outlet or air inlet is blocked.
  5. The set temperature is too high.

Water leakage during movement.

  1. Drain condensate before moving.
  2. To avoid water leakage, place the unit on level ground.
    • Does not work and water is full (indicator E4)
  3. Remove the rubber stopper to drain the water.
  4. If you often find yourself in this condition, contact a qualified technician.

WARRANTY

The manufacturer provides warranty in accordance with the legislation of the customer’s country of residence. This product is warranted for 3 years from the date of purchase.
Warranty repairs can only be carried out by an authorised service centre.
In order to claim the warranty, the original purchase invoice (with the date of purchase) must be presented and the product must be complete and with all its accessories.
The warranty does not apply in cases of:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Lack of maintenance
  • Incorrect use, e.g. overloading of the appliance, use of non-approved accessories.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Keep the unit at least 1 metre away from televisions or radios to avoid electromagnetic interference.
  • Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight to avoid fading of the surface.
  • Do not tilt the unit more than 35° or place it upside down during transportation.
  • Place the unit on a flat surface with less than 5° tilt.
  • The unit operates more efficiently in certain locations (see Technical Specifications).

INSTRUCTIONS TUYA SMART AP
  1. Download the Tuya Smart Life APP software
    Register in the APP

  2. The product turns on and enters standby mode. If it enters the on state after power on, it is necessary to press the standby button for the device to enter standby mode).

  3. In standby mode, press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds, the buzzer will beep once, wait for a while until the WIFI light flashes quickly and enter the setup state, if the WIFI light is not on, press the mode button for 5 seconds until the WIFI light flashes quickly. After powering on the board, it will automatically enter into pairing mode.

  4. After the WIFI light flashes rapidly follow these steps:

    • choose to add a device in the APP, select the appliance in the device bar, and then select the model inside.
  5. perform the WIFI pairing according to the prompts. After the pairing is successful, the WIFI light is always on; if the pairing is not successful, then repeat the above steps.

  6. After the setup is successful, you can use the APP to operate the product.

  7. If the product changes network environment, you will need to reconfigure the product (see steps 3, 4 and 5).

  8. For the successfully configured product, click on the top right corner of the APP and select “Share device” to share with the rest of the family (prerequisite: all family members must be registered).
