The Molift UnoSling StandUp is a consumable for single patient use. Etac supplies a wide selection of slings for different types of transfers. The UnoSling StandUp is intended to be used for moving from a sitting to a standing position and back with a sit-to-stand hoist with a 2-point, loop- style sling bar. Molift UnoSling StandUp is intended for users who can follow instructions, have good stability in their upper body and can weight bear on at least one leg, but need assistance when standing. It is approved for users weighing up to 350 kg and is available in sizes S-XL. The sling is placed around the body to provide support to the lower back. The sling has a non-slip lining inside and a waist belt, which helps keep the sling in place during transfers.

Definition
The person described as “the user” in this Instruction for Use is the person who is lying in the product. “The carer” is the person who applies the product.

Intended purpose
To be used with a hoist for supporting one specific user, who requires support to stand up and be transferred to another sitting position to/ from a bed, a wheelchair, a chair, a toilet or similar.

Intended target group
Used for users who require support to stand up and be transferred to another sitting position to/from a bed, a wheelchair, a chair and a toilet or similar.; e.g. persons suffering from pain, reduced joint range of motion, stiffness, and muscle weakness. Not an exhaustive list.

Intended environment
For indoor use in acute care, long term care, home care

Indications
The device can be used for children, adults and elderly people when there is a need for a patient specific product. The target group for the device is based on individual health and mobility function, and not a specific diagnose or age.

Contra indications
Make sure the sling fits the user. Not suitable for users with low muscle tonus. The user must have core- and head stability. The sling is non-washable and should be disposed when dirty or when user leaves the facility.

⚠ The Molift UnoSling StandUp sling is a consumable for single patient use, it has a limited service life. Write the user’s name and the date on the product label before using the product. The UnoSling StandUp is manufactured from non- woven material. Ensure that no pointed or sharp objects come into contact with the sling. Avoid pulling hard on the sling when applying it to or removing it from the user. The UnoSling StandUp should be taken out of use: ­ when it has become dirty or damp, or if there is a risk
that the sling has been exposed to contamination; ­ if it has been damaged; ­ when the user no longer requires it. The sling should be disposed of in accordance with applicable procedures for the health care facility.

⚠ Things to remember
­– Read through the manual before starting to use the sling.
– It is important to understand the contents of the user manual before using the equipment. Read the manual for both hoist and sling.
– Molift slings shall only be used to lift persons. Never use the sling to lift or move objects of any kind.
– Make a decision on whether one or more assistants are required. Plan the lifting operation in advance to ensure that it is as safe and smooth as possible. Remember to work ergonomically.
– Lifting and transferring a person always involves a certain risk. Only informed personnel should use the equipment described in this user manual. If the maximum load (SWL) differs between the sling bar and the sling, the lowest maximum load should always be used.
– Carry out a risk assessment and document it. As the assistant, you are responsible for the safety of the user.
– Never leave a user unattended in a lifting situation.
– Make sure that the wheels on the wheelchair, bed, etc. are locked during the movement.
– Remove the sling carefully to ensure that there is no sudden fall.

The following inspection should be carried out daily or before use
– The user must have the bodily functions required for the use of the sling.
– Make sure the sling is suitable for the hoist/sling bar to be used.
– Check that the sling has no visible damage or faults.

Lifting checkpoints

  1. Check that the sling is correctly fitted around the user and that the lifting loops are correctly fitted to the sling bar hooks.
  2. Make sure the user has both feet placed firmly on the footplate on the hoist and the strap on the leg support is properly fastened around the user’s leg.
  3. Start lifting until the lifting straps are stretched without lifting the user. Ensure that both loops of the sling are securely fastened to avoid the user slipping or falling out of the sling.
  4. Make sure the buckle is properly fastened
  5. Lift the user to standing position. Tighten and adjust the waist belt if necessary.

Sling application ­ Sitting position

  1. Ask the user to lean forward, support them if necessary with one hand. Slide the sling down behind the user’s back. Place the sling approximately at waist height on the back. Use the center marking to ensure the sling is placed aligned with the user’s spine.
  2. Place the belt around the waist of the user, connect the buckle and tighten the belt.
  3.  Place the hoist in position for fastening the sling to the sling bar. Place the user’s feet on the footplate and fasten the strap on the leg support around the user’s leg.
  4. Make sure the lifting straps are fastened with equal length on right and left side.
  5. The user must lean back slightly when being lifted, and if possible hold onto the handles. The waist belt should be retightened when lifting begins and when the sling is loaded.

Sitting position ­ Removing the sling

  1. Lower the user into a sitting position. Release the lifting straps from the sling bar. Remove the hoist, and unlock the waist belt buckle.
  2. Stand next to the chair and ask the user to lean forward. Support the user with one hand if necessary. Pull the sling away with one hand, and ask the user to lean back in the chair.

The Molift UnoSling StandUp, as described in this manual, is CE labelled and complies with the Council of Europe’s directive on medical devices MDR (EU) 2017/745, class 1, and has been tested and approved by a third party in accordance with the EN ISO 10535:2021 standard.

Molift UnoSling StandUp can be used on sit-to-stand hoists with a 2-point loop-style sling bar. Please note that lift and transfer of a person always pose a certain risk and interchanging slings and hoists from different manufacturers can affect that risk. Etac recommends that the carer always consult the user manual/Instructions For Use attached of both the hoist and the sling before conducting combination.
