Important

This User Manual contains important safety instructions and information regarding the use of MRS Duo Flex and accessories.
In this manual, the user is the person being lifted. The assistant is the person operating the lifter.

MRS Duo Flex components

MRS Duo Flex is a mobile 2-post gantry intended for Molift Air and Nomad lifters. The purpose is for lifting and transferring a person from/to bed, floor, chair, wheelchair or toilet with a sling. MRS Duo Flex can be disassembled and transfered to alternative locations and has adjustable posts with min/max heights from 1,89 to 2,54 meters.
Available telescope boom lengths are 2 – 3m and 3 – 4m. The load capacity is 275 kg (606 lbs). It is ideal for hospitals and institutional care settings, but can also be used in private`s homes. The gan- try should only be used indoor on flat surfaces. Such as the Bedroom, bathroom living room, etc.

General

CE declaration
The product, and its related accessories, described in this instruction for use (IFU), is in compliance with the regulation (EU) 2017/745 of 5. April 2017 – as a medical device, risk class I.
Any serious incident that occurs in relation to the device should be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and/or patient is established.
Conditions for Use
Lift and transfer of a person will always pose a certain risk and only trained personnel is allowed to use the equipment and accessories covered by this user manual.
Modifications and use of components made by other manufacturers.
We recommend only using Molift components and spare parts. Declaration of conformity is not valid and Etac is not responsible for a warranty if any modifications are made to the product. Etac shall not be liable for faults or accidents that can occur when using components made by other manufacturers.
Only certified personnel are allowed to perform repairs.

Assembly

Make sure the following parts are included in the package.
Beware of sharp edges at the ends of the boom.
Mounting telescopic boom

  1. Place the column on the floor with the 2 holes facing sideward.
  2. Place the boom between the columns.
  3. Connect the columns with the boom and tighten the 2 screws (M10).
  4. Repeat the procedure at the opposite side.

Ensure that the joint is stable, otherwise, the 2 post system will be unstable and not safe to use
Mounting base

  1. Lift the column slightly and connect the base.
  2. Tighten the 4 screws (M8) under the base.
  3. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.
  4. Raise the MRS Duo Flex to an upright position. It can be an advantage to lock the castors.

Ensure that the joint is stable, otherwise, the 2 post system will be unstable and not safe to use
Mounting charger to column

  1. Fasten the lover screw first (M5).
  2. Place the charger on the screw and insert the upper screw (M5).
  3. Use the Allen key and tighten the bolt.

Adjusting telescope boom

Easy to adjust width without tools. Loosen the locking handle, slide boom to the wanted position, then tighten the handle.
Remember to tighten the locking handle when the boom is adjusted
Adjusting heights of post

Instant height adjustment (gas spring mechanism). A simple user guide is placed above the handle.

  1. To adjust the height, loosen the height adjustment handle. Turn the handle counterclockwise until a faint click is heard.
  2. Pull out the handle and adjust the height to the desired position.
  3. When the handle is released it is important that there will be a clear click to ensure that the height is adjusted and thus locked.
  4. Tighten the adjusting handle by turning it clockwise.

Don`t stand under boom when adjusting post height
Castors

Two sets of castors with brakes. Simply step on the pedal to activate the brake.

Lifting user

  1. Make sure the floor is level.
  2. Place the gantry straight above the user.
  3. Make sure that all four brakes are activated.
  4. Read the user manual for Molift Air or Nomad before lifting the user.

Never leave a user unattended in a lifting situation.
Never lift the user higher than necessary to carry out a lift.
Transport and storage
The lifter can be stored and transported under temperatures between -25 – 70 °C and Relative Humidity between 15 – 93 %.

Accessories

Battery charger
Molift Air or Molift Nomad ceiling hoist is charged through the hand control. The hand control charger can be mounted on the MRS Duo Flex.

Telescope boom
MRS Duo Flex can be delivered with 2 different telescope boom lengths from 2-3 and 3-4 meters.

Maintenance

Cleaning and disinfection
Clean on a regular basis. Clean surfaces with a damp cloth using an appropriate pH-neutral detergent. Do not use solvents or strong liquids, this may damage surfaces on the lifter. For disinfection when needed; use isopropyl alcohol. Avoid abrasive cleaning products. Remove hair and pile from the castors and verify that the castors rotate freely. Clean contact and hand control with isopropyl alcohol to remove grease and dirt.
Make sure not to damage or remove labels when cleaning.
Reconditioning
Follow cleaning and assembly procedure, complete periodic inspection and use checklist after assembly to recondition MRS Duo Flex.
Recycling
Molift MRS Duo Flex can be disposed of as metal waste except for the battery charger. The battery charger must be removed and disposed of as Electrical equipment.

Periodic Inspection

Periodic Inspection Scope
Periodic inspection is a visual examination (particularly MRS Duo Flex structure, bolts, and lifters with attachments, safety devices, and person- support devices) according to Periodic Inspection Report for MRS Duo Flex.
In the event of danger to safety, the gantry shall immediately be taken out of service and marked clearly with “out of order” and shall not be used until Mrs. Duo Flex is repaired
Periodic Inspection shall be performed at least once a year or more frequently if required by local requirements. The inspection should be performed by service personnel authorized by Etac. Contact Etac for training and authorization or recommendation of an approved service partner.
When performing a periodic inspection, the inspector shall fill out the inspection report for MRS Duo Flex. The reports should be retained by the person(s) responsible for servicing the lifter. If
When the periodic inspection is completed the inspector shall mark the gantry with a sticker on the control label showing the date when the periodic inspection is performed and a label (with a 6-digit ID from Etac or distributor) showing who has performed the periodic control. The control label can be found on the post, and this will then indicate when the next service should be performed.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Possible Cause/Action
Wobbly between base and support column. Check bolts in the base. Make sure

the bolts is properly fastened.
Wobbly between boom and post.| Check bolts between the bracket and boom. Make sure bolts are properly fastened.
The height adjustment does not work| The gas spring is defective. Replace with new gas spring.
Molift Air or Molift Nomad hits the post during use.| Adjust the end stopper to the correct position.
