Product Information
FLOTIDE Pump
The FLOTIDE pump is an electrical pump used for moving water in swimming pools and other water features. The pump is designed to be installed and wired by a qualified, licensed electrician or contractor. It must be connected to the main power supply with the correct rating and comply with local rules and ordinances. The pump mount must be solid, level, rigid, and free from vibration to reduce friction losses. The suction pipe should be short and direct, and the pump should not be installed at more than 3 meters geometrical height from water level to prevent flooding. Flowgates should be used in suction and discharge piping, and there should be adequate floor drainage to prevent flooding. The pump should be protected from excess moisture, and there should be adequate access for pump and piping servicing.
Product Usage Instructions
FLOTIDE Pump
- Installation: Only a qualified, licensed electrician or contractor should install the pump and wiring. The pump must be wired to the main power supply with the correct rating and comply with local rules and ordinances.
- Pump Mount: The pump mount must be solid, level, rigid, and free from vibration.
- Operation: Before starting the motor, fill the pump with water to prevent damage to seals that can cause leakage and flooding. Before removing the lid, stop the pump, close the gate valves in suction and discharge pipes, and release all pressure from the pump and piping system. Never tighten or loosen screws while the pump is in operation. Do not block the pump suction, as this can cause severe or fatal injury. Children using the pool must always have close adult supervision.
- Routine Maintenance: Refer all service toyour local agent or dealer, as their knowledge of your equipment makes them the best-qualified source of information. Order all repair parts through your dealer and provide the unit nameplate data or serial number on the label and a description of the part.
- Troubleshooting: If the motor does not start, check for disconnected switches, blown fuses, a locked motor shaft, burned-out motor winding, a defective starting switch, disconnected or defective wiring, or low voltage. If the pump does not reach full speed, check for low voltage or the pump connected to the wrong voltage. If the motor overheats, check for low voltage, motor windings connected for the wrong voltage on a dual voltage model, or inadequate ventilation. If the pump delivers no water, check if it is primed, if there is a closed valve in the suction or discharge lines, if there is leakage or air in the suction system, or if the impeller is clogged. If there is leakage of water at the shaft, the shaft seal requires replacement. If there is low pump capacity, check for a valve in suction or discharge line partly closed, a suction or discharge line partly plugged, a suction or discharge line too small, plugged basket in a skimmer or hair and lint strainer, dirty filter, or impeller clogged. If there is high pump pressure, check for discharge valve or inlet fittings closed too much, return lines too small, or dirty filters. If there is a noisy pump and motor, check for a plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint.
INSTALLATION
Only qualified, licensed electrician or contractors should install the pump and wiring.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
All FLOTIDE pumps must be wired to the main power supply with the correct rating and by a certified electrician. Installation of electrical items must comply with Local Rules and Ordinances. Below information are for reference only:
- Local Rules (UK): According to BS7671
- Local Rules (NL): According to NEN1010
- Local Rules (Be): According to AREI 50
Pump Mount Must
- Be solid, level, rigid and free from vibration.
- Allow use of short, direct suction pipe. (To reduce friction losses & do not install the pump at more than 3M geometrical height from water level)
- Flowgates should be used in suction and discharge piping.
- Have adequate floor drainage to prevent flooding.
- Be protected from excess moisture.
- All adequate access for pump and piping servicing.
NOTICE: Pump suction and discharge connections have moulded in thread stops, DO NOT try to screw pipe in beyond these stops.
OPERATION
CAUTION
- Hazardous suction.
- Can trap hair or body part, causing severe injury or death.
- Do not block suction.
WARNING
- NEVER run pump dry! Running pump dry may damage seals, causing leakage and flooding! Fill pump with water before starting motor.
- Before removing lid:
- STOP PUMP before proceeding.
- CLOSE GATE VALVES in suction and discharge pipes.
- RELEASE ALL PRESSURE from pump and piping system
- NEVER tighten or loosen screws while pump is operation.
- Do not block pump suction! To do so with the body may cause severe or fatal injury. Children using pool must ALWAYS have close adult Supervision!
Routine Maintenance
The only routine maintenance needed is inspection/cleaning of trap basket. Debris or trash that collects in basket, will choke off water flow through the pump. Follow instructions below to clean trap:
- Stop the pump, close gate valve in suction and discharge, and release all pressure from system before proceeding.
- Unscrew trap lid (turn counterclockwise).
- Remove strainer basket and clean. Be sure all holes in basket are clear, flush basket with water and replace in trap with large opening at pipe connection port (between the ribs provided). If basket is replaced backwards cover will not fit on trap body.
- Clean and inspect lid Ring; reinstall on trap cover.
- Clean Ring groove on trap body and Replace lid. To help keep the lid from sticking, tighten hand tight only.
- Prime pump (see priming instructions above)
SERVICE& REPAIR PARTS
Refer all service to your local agent or dealer as his knowledge of your equipment makes him the vest qualified source of information. Order all repair parts through your dealer. Give the following information when ordering repair parts:
- Unit nameplate data or serial number on label.
- Description of part.
