FAQs

Do I need to remove my Sideclick from the adapter clip to program it?****

No, you can program your Sideclick directly from the adapter clip.

Will Sideclick work with my streaming device?****

Sideclick is compatible with most streaming devices including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, and Google Chromecast. Visit our website to verify compatibility with your device.

What’s the difference between Sideclick and other universal remotes?****

Sideclick is a true universal remote that replaces your existing streaming device remote. Other universal remotes require you to use two separate remotes, which can be inconvenient and take up space on your coffee table.

Can I use my existing streaming device remote with Sideclick?****

No, you must use the included remote with Sideclick. If you have a Harmony or Logitech Harmony remote, you can use the Harmony app on your smartphone or tablet to program it for use with Sideclick.

What if I lose my remote? How do I get another one?****

If you lose your remote or want a backup for when guests come over, simply order a replacement from our website at www.sideclickremotes.com.

Do universal remotes work with everything?****

As long as your smart TV has an Infrared sensor (or whatever connection type your remote uses, like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi), your universal remote should work with it. But some universal remotes will control only your TV’s power, volume, and channel up/down buttons

What are the capabilities of a universal remote?****

In addition to TV, sound, gaming, and other entertainment systems, universal remotes can communicate with smart home devices, such as climate control, lighting systems, and smart home hub.

How many devices can a universal remote control?****

These remotes can typically be used to manage about four electronic devices, and they usually control only their main functions, such as channel tuning and volume control.

Why do I need a universal remote?****

A universal remote allows you to consolidate the controls for your separate streaming devices, game consoles, and media players in your entertainment center into one unit. Some universal remotes can even control smart home devices like lights or thermostats.

Do universal remotes need programming?****

Auto-programming is not the only option for programming your universal remote — direct code entry is another way to connect to your TV or other devices. Unlike auto-programming, this option requires the correct code to be entered for each device.

Why do universal remotes stop working?****

There are several reasons why your remote may not be working. The most common are physical damage, battery issues, pairing issues, or issues with the infrared sensor on the remote or TV.

Can a universal remote work with cable?****

Yes, absolutely! The device buttons can be programmed to control any compatible A/V device. Simply look up the corresponding code in the remote’s code list and assign it to whichever device button you choose.

Are universal remotes still used?****

There are still a few companies that make universal remotes. And some of the old devices, including the Harmony remotes, still work well if you’re willing to buy a used one. If your coffee table full of remotes needs taming, the best universal remotes can still swoop in and cut out some remote clutter.

Can a universal remote work on two TVs?****

Most remote controls are designed to be programmed for only one TV at a time – unless the TVs you want to control remotely are all made by the same manufacturer and operate using the same Infrared (IR) frequency.

What are the benefits of having a remote control?****

Moreover, remote control functionalities allow people to set specific schedules for automatic tasks, making it easier to manage everyday activities regularly. Another key benefit of this technology is the ability to quickly respond to emergencies, even when the homeowner is on holiday.
