SAFETY RULES FOR CHARGER
WARNING:
READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Failure to follow all instructions
listed below, may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal
injury.
- Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings in this manual, on battery charger, battery, and product using battery to prevent misuse of the products and possible injury or damage.
WARNING:
Charge only one lithium-ion rechargeable battery at a time. Other types of
batteries may burst, causing personal injury, fire, or damage. For compatible
battery packs, see tool/appliace battery pack/charger correlation supple- ment
987000-432.
-
Do not use charger outdoors or expose to wet or damp conditions. Water entering charger will increase the risk of electric shock.
-
Do not charge a battery that is wet or has been wet or exposed to liquids.
-
Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by the battery charger manufacturer may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious personal injury.
-
Do not abuse cord or charger. Never use the cord to carry the charger. Do not pull the charger cord rather than the plug when disconnecting from receptacle. Damage to the cord or charger could occur and create an electric shock hazard. If cord or charger is damaged, have the charger replaced by an authorized serviceperson.
-
Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. This will reduce the risk of accidental falls, which could cause injury, and damage to the cord, which could result in electric shock.
-
Keep cord and charger from heat to prevent damage to housing or internal parts.
-
Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleum-based products, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals that can damage, weaken, or destroy plastic.
-
An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shock. If extension cord must be used, make sure:
a. That pins on plug of extension cord are the same number, size and shape as those of plug on charger.
b. That extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition; and
c. That wire size is large enough for AC ampere rating of charger as specified below: Cord Length (Feet) 25’ 50’ 100’ Cord Size (AWG) 16 16 16
NOTE: AWG = American Wire Gauge -
Do not operate charger with a damaged cord or plug, which could cause shorting and electric shock. If damaged, have the charger replaced by an authorized serviceperson.
-
Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any way. Take it to an authorized serviceperson for electrical check to determine if the charger is in good working order.
-
Do not disassemble charger. Take it to an authorized serviceperson when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
-
Unplug charger from outlet before attempting any maintenance or cleaning to reduce the risk of electric shock.
-
Disconnect charger from the power supply when not in use. This will reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the charger if metal items should fall into the opening. It also will help prevent damage to the charger during a power surge.

APPLICATIONS
You may use this product for the following purposes:
- For operating and charging USB-powered devices
- Supplying electrical power for operating compatible small electronics such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, LED lights, small fans, radios, etc.
- For charging a Ryobi 18V battery
NOTE: This device is not compatible for use with appliances, power tools, air conditioners, sump pumps, compressors, and/or other larger electrical devices.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2.
- To install: insert a battery pack into the power source as shown. Make sure the latches on the battery pack snap into place and the battery pack is secured in the power source before beginning operation.
- To remove: depress the latches on the battery pack.
USING THE POWER SOURCE
See Figure 3.
When a battery pack is installed, this power source converts DC electricity to
120V AC household power and/or DC USBA or USB-C charging power, allowing the
user to charge and power a variety of devices.
The USB-dedicated charging ports will charge most USBcompatible devices when
used with the appropriate USB-A fast charge (5V@3A, 9V@2A, 12V@1.5A DC) or
USB-C PD (5V@3A, 9V@3A, 12V@2.5A, 15V@2A, 20V@1.5A) cable.
This power source is also capable of charging an 18V battery through the USB-C
port. It does not charge and discharge simultaneously.
WARNING:
Risk of electric shock. When using a grounded appli-ance this tool will not
provide an electrical path to earth ground. Do not power devices with damaged
or frayed power cords.
-
Insert a battery pack into the power source.
-
Press and hold the power button ( ) for 1.5 seconds to turn the power source ON. The LED will light up green when ready to use.
-
Plug devices you want to power or charge into the power source’s USB ports and/or 120 volt receptacle.
-
If the power button LED blinks red then turns off, the power source may be overloaded. Disconnect your device, make sure your battery pack is sufficiently charged to power your device, then press the button to turn the power source back on. Reconnect your device and try again. If the fault condition immediately reoccurs, the item being powered exceeds the capacity of the power source.
-
If the power button LED turns red but does not shut down the power source, the power source is overheated. Allow the unit to cool until the LED turns green, then try again.
-
If the power button LED flashes yellow, the battery pack needs to be recharged.
-
To use the worklight, press the light button ( ). Press the light button again to turn the worklight off.
NOTE: The power source must be on for the worklight to function. -
When finished, disconnect your device and press the power button indicator ( ) again for 1.5 seconds to turn off the power source.
NOTE: When needed, an internal cooling fan will run to regulate the unit’s operating temperature. If running, always wait for the fan to stop before you disconnect the battery pack from the power source.
USING THE POWER SOURCE TO CHARGE YOUR 18V BATTERY
See Figure 3.
Plug either end of a USB-C charging cable into a RYOBI USB wall adaptor and
plug the other end into the power source to begin charging your RYOBI 18V
battery. For best results, use a USB-C wall adaptor, rated up to 30W. This
device will also charge when connected with a USB-C to USB-A cable (not
included). Any USB port with supplied power can charge your RYOBI 18V battery,
including USB ports in vehicles, boats, or solar panels.
NOTE: The inverter will only charge the battery when receiving power
through the USB-C port.
