Installation
Notice:
This child restraint system has been approved under Regulation R129 to be used
by children between 76 cm to 150 cm in height. For use in, “i-Size compatible”
vehicle seating positions as indicated by vehicle manufacturers in the vehicle
users’ manual. Please do not leave the child unattended inside the vehicle.
Please read the instructions carefully. Incorrect installation of the child
restraint system
could cause serious consequences for the child. In the case of incorrect
installation, the manufacturer is in no way responsible. This seat is classed
as an i-Size Enhanced Child Restraint System and i-Size booster seat. The
ISOFIX meets size classes ISO F2X and ISO B2.
INSTALLING THE CHILD SEAT
INSTALLATION FROM 76-105cm / <20.5kg
Slide the ISOFIX connector arms B (5) to their maximum length by turning the
ISOFIX connector arms extension lever A (16). Do this on both sides of the
seat. Extend the top tether and place (4) on top of the seat.
Connect the ISOFIX connector arms until you hear them click into place.
The ISOFIX connection indicator (17) will turn from red to green. Push the
seat as far back as possible. Make sure that both lSOFIX are in the same
position once you have pushed the seat back. Connect the Top Tether in the
anchor point in the vehicle marked with the symbol:The connector may be closed
without being secured in the ISOFIX anchor. Please make sure that the
connectors are correctly fastened into the anchor points of the vehicle by
pulling the seat once it has been installed. To detach the seat follow the
same steps in reverse. Move the button(15) to open the connector and release
the anchors.
INSTALLATION FROM 105-150cm
Follow the same steps as before. In this case you should not connect the Top
Tether. There is also the option of installing the seat only with the car seat
belt when using the 105-150cm mode however where possible it is recommended to
use ISOFIX.
FITTING THE CHILD INTO THE CHILD SEAT
The Balance i-Size Car Seat may be used for the following weight ranges: 76-105cm / <20.5kg using the 5-point safety harness 105-150cm the safety harness must be stored away and the child should be secured with the 3-point vehicle seat belt. SAFETY HARNESS 76-105cm / <20.5kg (With ISOFIX + Top tether
- 5-point safety harness) Slacken the shoulder straps by pressing the harness adjustment button (10) at the same time, pulling both shoulder straps forward below the chest pads with your other hand. Press the red release button and undo the harness. Move the ends of the buckle to each side of the seat so you can put the child in the seat. Carefully place the child into the seat and pass both arms through the harnesses.Fit the shoulder strap tongues and together and then push firmly into the crotch strap buckle until you hear a click. Tighten harness by pulling the lower strap (11). To get the child out of the seat follow the same process in reverse.
STORING THE 5-POINT SAFETY HARNESS:
Once the child reaches a weight of 20.5kg the 5-point safety harness should be
stored away and the child should be secured with the vehicle safety belt. To
store the 5-point safety harness away it needs to be fully loosened first.
Press the red release button and undothe harness. Lift the cover under the
cushion and store the buckle parts in the compartment. Then put the cover back
on the seat. Open the flap on the back of the seat and stow the shoulder
sections of the harness behind.
CAR SEAT BELT 105-150CM
With the child in the seat pull the seat belt around the front, locating it
into both seat belt lap section guides (14). Pass the shoulder section through
the diagonal section seat belt guide(7). Fasten the seat belt buckle and pull
the seat belt tight, removing any slack.
USING BALANCE
HEADREST AND HARNESS ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM 76-105cm / <20.5kg
The headrest should be adjusted so that the shoulder belts are at the same
level as the child’s shoulders. To adjust the harness and headrest pull the
headrest adjustment handle upwards (6) whilst moving the headrest (1). The
5-point safety harness will move upwards together with the headrest.Place the
harness in the correct position shown in the diagram. 105-150cm Use the
headrest adjustment handle to increase the height of the headrest as the child
grows. Make sure that the belt guide is about 2cm above the child ’s shoulder.
If you need to lower the headrest position do the same operation in reverse.
SEAT RECLINE SYSTEM
The BALANCE child seat has 4 recline positions to offer the best comfort. To
recline the seat press the recline lever (12) and pull forward until reaching
the required position.
SAFETY NOTES
Please read the whole of this instruction guide carefully. Failure to do so
could put your child in danger. You can only expect the Balance i-Size Car
Seat to provide maximum protection if it is fitted and used correctly as per
the manufacturer’s instructions.
WARNINGS
DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN ALONE IN YOUR CAR. IT MAY BE INSTALLED IN VEHICLES WITH
APPROVED ISOFIX POSITIONS (AS DETAILED IN THE MANUAL FROM YOUR VEHICLE
MANUFACTURER) DEPENDING ON THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM CATEGORY AND THE SPACE IT
TAKES UP. CHECK YOUR VEHICLE INSTRUCTION MANUAL TO MAKE SURE THAT ISOFIX
CATEGORY ISO F2X AND ISO B2 CHILD SAFETY SEATS ARE SUITABLE FOR YOUR VEHICLE.
COVER THE SEAT IF IT IS LEFT IN
DIRECT SUNLIGHT. PLASTIC AND METAL SURFACES GET VERY HOT AND COULD BURN. THE CAR SEAT COVER IS ALSO LIKELY TO FADE. KEEP THE CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM AWAY FROM CORROSIVE LIQUIDS, PAINTS, OR SOLVENTS THAT COULD DAMAGE THE PRODUCT. ONLY SUITABLE FOR USE IN THE LISTED VEHICLES FITTED WITH 3-POINT SAFETY BELTS, APPROVED TO ECE REGULATION NO. 16 OR OTHER EQUIVALENT STANDARDS. ENSURE THAT THE LAP SECTION OF THE SEATBELT OR HARNESS IS WORN LOW DOWN SO THAT THE PELVIS IS FIRMLY ENGAGED.USE THE PLASTIC ISOFIX GUIDES PROVIDED WHEN NECESSARY. SILVER CROSS CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE OR MARKING TO VEHICLE SEAT UPHOLSTERY. IT SHALL BE RECOMMENDED
THAT ANY STRAPS HOLDING THE RESTRAINT TO THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TIGHT, THAT ANY
STRAPS RESTRAINING THE CHILD SHOULD BE ADJUSTED TO THE CHILD’S BODY, AND THAT
STRAPS SHOULD NOT BE TWISTED. THE CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM SHOULD BE REPLACED
AFTER AN ACCIDENT, EVEN IF THERE ARE
NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE. THE PRODUCT MAY HAVE UNSEEN INTERNAL DAMAGE THAT
COULD COMPROMISE THE CHILD’S SAFETY.DO NOT LEAVE UNSECURED LUGGAGE OR OBJECTS
ON THE PARCEL SHELF IN THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THEY
COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS.
DURING EVERYDAY USE OF THE VEHICLE, ENSURE THAT NO PARTS OF THE SEAT BELT OR CHILD SEAT CAN BECOME TWISTED OR TRAPPED BY A MOVABLE SEAT OR IN A DOOR OF THE VEHICLE.BE SURE THAT THE ENHANCED CHILD RESTRAINT IS INSTALLED IN SUCH A WAY THAT NO PART OF IT INTERFERES WITH MOVABLE SEATS OR IN THE OPERATION OF VEHICLE DOORS. DO NOT MAKE UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS OR ALTERATIONS TO THE CHILD’S CAR SEAT.
MAINTENANCE
FITTING / REMOVING THE COVER
The cover has 7 fastening points on the front part. Simply unfasten these
points and then gently pull the front part of the cover. On the sides of the
seat there are some plastic parts that are used to fasten the cover. Simply
pull these gently to take the cover off. To put the cover back on again just
follow the same process in reverse. Fit the parts into the slots for the
sides.
CLEANING THE FABRICS
- The seat cover is easily removable and should be washed on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees using a mild detergent.
- Take out all removable internal plastic/foam parts from inside any fabrics before washing.
- Do not press, iron, dry clean, tumble dry or wring the covers.
- Do not use solvents, caustic or abrasive cleaning materials.
- Dry flat, away from direct heat and sunlight.
THE FABRIC COVER IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM. IT MUST NOT BE REPLACED BY A DIFFERENT COVER WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
CLEANING THE SEAT SHELL AND HARNESS
Wipe clean using mild hand soap and warm water. You must not use detergents,
solvents or strong soaps. This may weaken your infant carrier shell or
harness. You must not remove, dismantle or alter any part of the infant
carrier shell or harness. You must not oil or lubricate any part of your
infant carrier shell or harness.
CLEANING THE CROTCH STRAP BUCKLE
Clean the crotch strap buckle with mild hand soap and water and then
thoroughly rinse with warm water. If you require any further advice as to the
