Useful Tips
The surfaces of the appliance will get hot. The residual heat will keep the surfaces hot after use.
- Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance, such as the lid, bowls, rice bowl or liquid tray. Use oven gloves or cloth and hold them only by the handles.
- The cooking time depends on the size of the food, the height of the bowl, the freshness of the ingredients and your personal preferences.
- Cooking time increases:
- If 2-3 bowls are used.
- If the food has been placed in layers inside the bowls.
- Single-layer food cooks faster than multi-layer foods, so large amounts of food take longer to cook.
- For better steam flow:
- Pack food loosely in the bowls.
- Use single layers of food.
- Leave spaces between the pieces for better steam flow between the layers.
- For homogeneous cooking:
- Try to cut all pieces of food to roughly the same size.
- Put larger pieces or food with longer cooking time, closer to the water tank.
- Place smaller pieces or food with a shorter cooking time furthest the water tank.
- The liquids from the upper bowl drip into the lower bowl. Place the foods with the finest flavors on top of the foods with the strongest flavors, or place the vegetables on top of the fatty foods (eg meat or fish).
- You’ll need to experiment to find the times and positions which suit your favorite foods and food combinations.
- During cooking, you can open the lid carefully using oven gloves and mix the food.
- Check that food is properly cooked before serving. If in doubt, cook it a bit more.
- Do not put frozen meat or poultry in the steamer – defrost fully before cooking.
- Meat, burgers, poultry, etc. cook them until very well cooked.
- Cook the fish until all sides are golden brown.
- You should cook leaf vegetables as little as possible, to keep them green and crisp. Plunging them into iced water will stop the cooking process.
