FUNCTIONING CD CHANGER IN TRUNK OR HATCH

Introduction

Many Jaguar vehicle owners eager to find a way to connect and play their portable audio devices without sacrificing the CD changer will be pleased to find this adapter. The JAG97-CD provides an audio input jack to which these owners are able to connect and play Smartphone, MP3, iPods, Tablet etc. This adapter connects directly to the “CD” port at the radio and best of all retains the CD changer. If vehicle does not have a CD changer or if it malfunctions, purchase our AUX-JAG97 instead. The JAG97-CD works on all pre-1998 radios with
“TAPE/CD” button on faceplate and 8-pin DIN port (See Fig. 1)
See Frequently Asked question at the end of this guide for more details.

Frequent asked questions & troubleshooting

  1. Does the JAG97-CD work in vehicles without CD changer?
NO; the JAG97-CD requires a functioning CD changer (in trunk or hatch) to operate as described. If CD changer malfunctions in any way, the JAG97-CD will also malfunction. Please ensure CD changer operation prior to ordering.

  2. I own a 1997 XK8 but not sure if it’s an early or late production. How can I tell which adapter applies to may vehicle?
Early XK8 radios have a “TAPE/CD” button lower right of faceplate and late XK8 radios have a “CD/TAPE” button on lower left of faceplate. To avoid costly returns, we highly recommend checking radio and or “CD” plug in all 1997 XK8:

    • If Ai-NET connector- (See Fig. 7), purchase our JAG-CDR
    •  If 8-pin DIN (male plug)- (See Fig. 7), purchase our JAG97-CD
When in doubt check your application prior to ordering.
  3. Can I connect the JAG97-CD to the CD changer plug instead of the radio?
YES; Connecting the JAG87-CD at the CD changer plug in trunk or hatch is also possible, but the audio cable included with this kit (See Fig.6) is not long enough to reach inside vehicle cabin, therefore audio device must reside in trunk or hatch OR simply purchase longer audio cable.

  4.  My CD changer is temperamental. Is there an adapter available that does not require CD changer to function?
YES. We offer wired and wireless (Bluetooth) solutions that do not require a functioning CD changer. For Bluetooth music streaming, purchase our A2D-JAG97 and for a wired solution, purchase our AUX-JAG97

  5. Can I control music from radio buttons?
NO; you must use audio device built-in controls to access music files. Radio volume control button is used to set playback level.

  6. After installing this adapter, CD playback is very low. I was under the impression that CD playback would not be impaired. Did I not understand the concept?
Indeed, the JAG97-CD does retain use of the CD changer, however, if audio cable is connected to audio jack (See Fig.4), CD playback will be impaired. The remedy is always disconnect audio cable from jack when listening to CD’s (Jack must be empty)
