USING THE LIGHT
The push-button switch is located on the top of the light.
- From off, press and release the switch for high mode.
- To change modes, hold the switch for two seconds for low mode or four seconds for flash.
- An additional press of the switch from any mode will turn the light off.
The taillight operation can be changed with the push-button switch. Taillight modes are flash (factory default), on, or off.
- From off, press and hold the switch for approximately 10 seconds. While the switch is depressed, the light will cycle through all modes and then will turn off. Release the switch to toggle the taillight mode and to save the setting.
A battery/charge status LED indicator is located on the body of the light.
- Green (lights up for 2 seconds after turning lantern on) – Battery is normal/charged.
- Red (lights up and stays on) – Charge battery soon.
- Flashing red (continuous) – Battery is depleted, and shutdown is imminent.
CLAMPING HANDLE
The Vulcan Clutch® can clamp on surfaces such as a door or tabletop. To open the clamp, depress the handle release latch and raise the handle.
POSITIONING THE HEAD
The head can be moved to different positions both with tilt (196º) and rotation (90º in one direction, 235º in the other direction). When fully closed, the head has a slight downward tilt such that the ground is illuminated when the lantern is held horizontally.
CHARGING THE LIGHT
The Vulcan Clutch® should be fully charged before use. Insert the base of the
lantern into the charger and snap it into place within the locking arms (it
must latch securely). Press the gray, rear latch, and slightly urge the light
forward to release the Vulcan Clutch® for use.
The body mounted status LED indicator will light up red when the Vulcan
Clutch® is inserted correctly and the battery is charging. The status LED will
switch to green when charging is complete.
The Vulcan Clutch® is designed to be stored in the charger continuously
between uses.
MOUNTING THE CHARGER
The charger/cradle is designed to be used in many positions. In existing applications, the charger footprint allows a simple replacement/upgrade from the legacy Vulcan® or LiteBox® chargers.
- Select a convenient location and make sure there is enough clearance to insert and remove the lantern.
- The charger power connector is located on the underside of the charger.
- Locate a safe, convenient route for the input power cord and connect the input power plug to the charger base (the input connector is keyed for proper polarity).
- Using the charger base as a template, mark the location of the mounting holes and mount the charger securely with appropriate hardware.
- Connect the charger to an appropriate power source (observe polarity in 12 VDC installations).
IMPORTANT: Use only genuine Stream light charger holders and cords.
INSTALLATION IN VEHICLES
IMPORTANT: Before making electrical connections in a vehicle, keep in
mind that a shorted auto battery can easily start a fire. Make all connections
with insulated lugs or other connectors intended for such use. Be sure that
your installation is fused. A two (2) Ampere fuse is recommended.
A 12VDC power cord (#22051) with a cigarette plug is available for mounting a
Stream light charger in a vehicle. The cigarette plug can be removed, and the
wires can be attached directly to a power source for a more permanent
installation.
A two-amp fuse must be used on the positive lead. The striped power lead is
positive, and the unmarked lead is negative. When connecting the charger to a
fuse block, the positive striped power lead goes to the connector that is dead
when the vehicle’s fuse is removed. The charger body is electrically isolated
from the charge circuit and allows positive ground installations. The lantern
is polarity-protected and if connected in reverse polarity, simply won’t
charge until connected properly.
Stream light recommends connecting chargers to an unstitched source of power
to ensure the lantern is always fully charged. If the vehicle will not be
driven for several days, the lantern should be removed from the charger to
avoid vehicle battery drain. Charging the lantern will draw .8 amperes for
approximately 5 hours and the charger will draw .02 amperes in maintenance
mode when battery is fully charged.
