Using the Pearl P100
Operating your radio – DAB:
-
The Antenna is built into the handle. Be careful to only take the handle off from one side if you need to hang the radio somewhere.

Press and hold the POWER button to switch on your radio. The display will show “AZATOM digital radio”.
-
If this is the first time the unit goes into DAB Mode, it will automatically start an ‘Auto Scan’ to search for available stations.
(If DAB Mode has been used before, the radio will automatically select the previously played station). -
Press SCAN button at any time wil start an auto scan. During the scanning process, the lower line of the display shows a bargraph indicating progress of the scan.

When the scanning is completed the first station (in alphanumeric order) will be selected. The clock will automatically set to the current time
-
If the station list is still empty after the scan your radio will display “Service not available”.

If no stations are found, please ensure the aerial is extended and test the reception by doing another auto scan in a different location.
Selecting a station – DAB:
- The top line of the display shows the name of the station for 10 seconds before it reverts to the time.
- Use the <</>> dial to go through the list of available stations on the lower line of the display. Press the ENTER button to play the choosen station from the list.
Finding new radio stations – DAB:
Over time new stations may become available. To find new stations you can auto
scan as follows.
- Press MENU, the display will show “Settings”.
- Turn <</>> dial to find “Full scan”. Press ENTER.
- The display will show “Scanning…” Your radio will perform a scan of the Band III DAB channels. As new radio stations are found the station counter on the right-hand side of the display will increase and the radio stations will be added to the list stored in the radio.
Manual Tuning – DAB:
Manual tuning allows you to tune your radio to a particular DAB frequency in
Band III. This function is mainly used to assist the positioning of the aerial
or the radio to optimise reception for a specific channel or frequency and see
the signal strength on your display.

When in DAB mode, press MENU.
-
USE <</>> dial to find “Manual tune” Press ENTER.

Use the right dial to find the required DAB channel / Frequency.
Press ENTER. When the radio has searched, the display will show the channel number with frequency(MHz) and the name of the multiplex found(if any). A bar graph shows the signal strength.
Any new stations found on the scanned DAB multiplex will be added to the list already stored in the radio. -
Turn the <</>> dial to choose a different frequnecy.

Press MENU to go back to the main menu at any time
Dynamic Range Control Settings – DAB
Dynamic Range Control (also known as DRC) is a technology used to help make
quieter sounds easier to hear in a noisy environment.

Press MENU. Use <</>> Dial to find “DRC”, and press ENTER.
-
Use <</>> dial to select the DRC setting (the default is 0FF).
DRC OFF – DRC is switched off, Broadcast DRC will be ignored.
DRC LOW – DRC level is set to 1/2 that is sent by broadcaster.
DRC HIGH – DRC level is used as what is sent by broadcaster. -
Press MENU to confirm the setting. The display will return back to normal.
Auto Search Tuning – FM:
- Press MODE to enter FM mode.
- Press SCAN. Your radio will scan and save any stations with a strong signal in its memory. After the search is complete the display will show the frequency and play the first available station.
- Turn <</>> dial and hold to auto seach and play the next available saved station.
Manual Tuning – FM:
- Press MODE to enter FM mode.
- Turn <</>> dial once. With each turn of <</>> dial the frequency will change up or down by 50 kHz to help fine tune a station.
- Turn <</>> dial and hold will start an auto search to find next available FM station. It will stop and play the next station available.
Prune: (To remove stations which are listed but unavailable).
- In DAB MODE, press MENU.
- Turn <</>> dial to find “Prune”, press ENTER to confirm.
- Turn <</>> dial to find “YES”. Press ENTER button to confirm to prune. Note: this removes all the invalid stations indicated in the station list with a “?” in front of the station name.
Presets
Presetting Stations – FM and DAB:
You may store your preferred DAB and FM radio stations to the preset station
memories. There are 80 memory presets in your radio, 40 for DAB and 40 for FM.
Presets are remembered by your radio in the event of a power failure:
IMPORTANT: Make sure the station you want to preset is actually playing.
- Press and HOLD the PRESET button for 2 seconds until you see “Preset store” not “Preset Recall”
- Turn <</>> dial to choose which number preset you want to save your station into ( 1 to 40).
- Press ENTER to confirm and store.
For example, “Preset 01″stored”. Repeat this procedure as needed.
Fast Preset
TO FAST PRESET(RADIO). Use the numbered buttons “1/2 and 3/4” on the radio.
Play the station you want to Preset. Press and hold the numbered button “1/2
or 3/4” until you see “Preset stored”. You can choose any of the preset number
buttons. The maximum number of presets you can save this way is 4.
Recalling Presets:
- Press once the PRESET button to see “Preset Recall” not “Preset Store”
- Use the <</>> dial to choose which number preset (1 to 40) you want to play from your stored preset stations.
- Press ENTER to play that station.
Note: If you have not previously stored a preset station and the preset button is pressed “Empty preset” will be displayed.
Sleep
Sleep Function:
Your radio can be set to turn off after a preset time has elapsed.
The sleep setting can be adjusted between 15 and 90 minutes.
Ensure your radio is switched on.
- Press MENU button to show “Settings” Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial to find “Set Sleep Timer”. Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial to set the desired sleep time from 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90 minutes or SLEEP OFF which will cancel the sleep function
- Press ENTER to confirm the setting. The sleep timer indicator will show on the display. Your radio will switch off after the preset sleep time has elapsed.
Brightness / Time / Date
Brightness Setting:
Press the DIMMER button for Three levels of brightness: High, Medium, Low.
Backlight Setting:
At any time you can change the backlight to auto dim or stay ON in the
“settings”. Auto Dim can be used to save battery charge.
- Press MENU to show “Settings” Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial to show “Backlight”. Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial to show “Backlight Auto” Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial to select auto dim time from 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180 seconds or OFF. The LCD would dim down after the setting time.
Time/Date Setting:
In DAB mode, the time would update automatically, so you will not need to
manually set the time/date.
Manual set Time/Date:
- Press MENU to show “settings” Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dial until “Time/Date” is highlighted. Press ENTER.
- Press ENTER again to set “Time/Date”.
- Turn <</>> dial to set hours/minutes/day/month/year. Press ENTER after each one to confirm and move to next stage.
- You can set “Auto update” time from “DAB or FM”(DAB is recommended).
- “12/24 hours” and “date” format can be changed as well.
Alarm Setting
NOTE: PLEASE SELECT A RADIO STATION BEFORE SETTING THE ALARM.
You will be given the option to choose from last station used or one of your
favorite preset channels.

Press 1/2 button to enter the setting menu. Turn <</>> dial to choose ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 to set. Press ENTER.

Turn <</>> dial to set alarm hours. Press ENTER to confirm hours.

Turn <</>> dial to set alarm minutes. Press ENTER to confirm.

Turn <</>> dial to set duration of alarm from 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes. Press SELECT to confirm.

Turn <</>> dial to set the alarm source (DAB, FM, BUZZER).
Press ENTER to confirm. -
Turn <</>> dial to set the days on which the alarm is active (Once / Daily / Weekdays / Weekends). Press ENTER to confirm.

Turn <</>> dial to set the alarm volume. Press ENTER to confirm.

Final, Turn <</>> dial to choose Alarm ON or OFF. Press ENTER to save your alarm settings.
Disable Alarm when not required: See icons on right side of display
- First Long Press 1/2 enables Alarm 1. See icon display.
- Long Press again 1/2 disables Alarm 1. See no icon display.
- Long Press again 1/2 enables Alarm 2. See icon display.
- Long Press again 1/2 disables Alarm 2. See no icon display.
- Long Press again 1/2 enables Alarm 1&2. See icons display.
- Long Press again 1/2 disables Alarm 1&2. See no icons display.
Stop Alarm when sounding:
When the alarm is sounding you can press 1/2 button one time to stop the alarm
sound. The radio will then return to Standby mode.
Snooze
- When the alarm sounds, pressing the SNOOZE button will temporarily silence the alarm, you can choose the time from 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes or off.
- The snooze function also has a countdown allowing you to see how long before the alarm re-sounds.
Bluetooth
To pair your device via Bluetooth for the first time:
- Select the “BT” mode by pressing the MODE button.
- After a few seconds, the speaker will automatically go into paring mode.
- On your Bluetooth device do a search and once available please select “Azatom Pearl”.
- Once connected, the screen will say “BT connected”.
- You are ready to start streaming via Bluetooth.
Play your music on your Bluetooth device( mobile phone) and listen on the Pearl P100. Whenever the Bluetooth Mode is selected on the Pearl P100 it will automatically go into pairing mode and either pair with the last paired device (if in range) or be available for pairing to a new device.
Earphones
Earphones (NOT INCLUDED):
- Plug the earphones into the Earphone socket on the side of your radio.
- Check that the Volume level is not too loud before placing the ear-pieces into your ears.
IMPORTANT: Do not switch on the radio when wearing your earphones. Excessive sound pressure from earphones can cause hearing damage.
Languages
- Press MENU button, to show “Settings”. Press ENTER.
- Turn <</>> dIal to show ” Languages” Press ENTER.
- Select which language you require from: English, Deutsch, Italiano, Francais, Espanol.

Reset
Factory reset to default settings:
- Press MENU button to show “Settings”. Press ENTER.
- Turn the <</>> dial to find “Factory Reset” Press ENTER.
- If you wish to perform the reset operation, turn the dial until “YES” is highlighted. Press ENTER.
- A full reset of your radio will be performed. All presets and station lists will be erased.
- If you do not wish to reset your radio. Turn <</>> dial until “NO” is highlighted. Press ENTER. Your radio will return to the previous menu.
- After a system reset and a fresh scan of the DAB band will be performed.
If you Pearl does not respond and none of the buttons are working you can do a Full restart.
There is a button located inside the headphone port. Push the pin provided into the headphone port until you hear a click or feel the button press. The radio will power off and restart.
