Library Lending Program
Health Canada recommends long term testing of at least 91 days, but for
screening purposes a minimum short term lending period of 28 days will provide
an indication of radon levels in the home.
Device Instructions **
**
- Using a paper clip or pen, press the RESET button.
- The display will read CAL and countdown. The display will flash with no numbers for the first 24 hours.
Placement
- Select a room on the lowest level (basement or 1st floor) where you spend at least 4 hours per day level (e.g., office, family room or bedroom).
- This monitor is for indoor use only. Place on a flat surface such as a desk, table, bookcase, or shelf.
Place in a room with below 85% relative humidity.
Leave undisturbed during testing period.
DO NOT place in direct sunlight.
DO NOT place in a bathroom, kitchen, laundry room or furnace room.
Results
Above 200 Bq/m3:
If the long-term results exceed Health Canada’s recommended guideline of 200
Bq/m3 , take the steps to reduce your exposure to radon. To learn more, visit
the Take Action on Radon website at takeactiononradon.ca/protect/reducing-
radon.
200 Bq/m3 or below:
If the long-term results are below the recommended guideline, you may purchase
a digital detector such as this one for continuous radon monitoring or a
91-day single use long-term test kit. Continuous radon detectors may be easily
purchased in hardware stores or online. To purchase a long-term single use
test kit, visit takeactiononradon.ca/test-for-radon/radon-test-
kits.
