SCHIIT Gjallarhorn Compact Speaker AMP
COMPACT SPEAKER AMP
STEREO
-
Connect a stereo source to the RCA jacks. Connect both left and right channels with good RCA cables. Don’t connect anything to the XLR socket.
-
Connect both left and right speakers. Use good-quality, banana-terminated cables for this. “L” is left, and “R” is right. Black is ground, red is hot. Simple as that.
MONO -
Connect a mono balanced source to the XLR jack. You’ll need a good XLR cable. Don’t connect anything to the RCA inputs.
-
Connect one speaker to the two center jacks. “+” is positive, “-” is negative. Both are active. Don’t short the negative sides together, or the amp may go into protection. More on this later.
POWER -
Connect the power cord here. The amp won’t work wirelessly without power; we’re not Nikola Tesla or anything fancy like that.
-
Turn the amp on and off with this switch. There will be a short delay, about 10 seconds, until the relay clicks in. And then you’ll have music!
-
When the amp is on, this LED is lit. When it’s off, the LED is off. Simple as that.
PROTECTION
Gjallarhorn includes internal protection against over-current, over-
temperature, and excessive DC.
If Gjallarhorn clicks and mutes, it has gone into protection mode.
Gjallarhorn’s protection will reset automatically in a few seconds. Check the
following:
Are speaker cables shorted? Shorted cables will cause Gjallarhorn to go into
protection.
Is there a speaker problem? Sometimes, speakers can short internally. Check
with a voltmeter or try a different pair of speakers.
Are you using low-impedance, inefficient speakers? Gjallarhorn may protect
with very low impedance or inefficient speakers.
Are you listening very loudly? Gjallarhorn is a capable amplifier, but it’s
best on the desktop or in a small room. If you need a ton of power, Vidar is a
better choice.
