SCHIIT REKKR Desktop Speaker Amp
CONNECTIONS
- Connect your source to the Rekkr’s “IN” RCA jacks with high-quality RCA cables. “Source” is a fancy word for headphone amp or, preamp, or any other device that has volume-controlled audio output.
- Connect the supplied wall-wart cable to the jack labeled “AC IN.” Do not use any other wall-wart, or Rekkr will not work.*
- Stereo : Connect the speakers to the “L” and “R” outputs using banana plugs. Ensure that the two switches on the bottom are not set to “MONO
- Mono : using the right RCA input only, connect the speaker to the two middle outputs with banana plugs. Ensure the two switches on the bottom are set to “MONO.”
- Turn on and off the power with the power switch. Up is on. Down is off.
- Make sure the Mono switches are set correctly. Both towards “MONO” for mono, both away from “MONO” for stereo.
Rekkr’s wall-wart is AC output. Most AC adapters are DC output, and will not work with Rekkr. Rekkr works with a 6VAC, 2-4A output adapter only.
OPERATION
- Turn it on. The front LED will light up, and the relay will click in after about 10 seconds. Then you’ll have music!
- Control volume with your headphone amp or preamp. You need a source with a volume control. Don’t turn it up until it distorts, or until your ears bleed
PROTECTION
If your Rekkr clicks and mutes, clicks and mutes, over and over, it is
protecting itself from over-current or over-temperature situations. Protection
will happen when your speaker cables are shorted or if there is a fault in
your speakers. Check your cables and speakers for shorts, and try different
speakers. You may also encounter protection when playing Rekkr loudly for some
time, or when using low-impedance, low-efficiency speakers. Remember, Rekkr is
a relatively low-powered amp, designed for desktop and nearfield use.
