Description of the device
General view
The instructions contained in this manual apply to different refrigerators. The diagrams may not directly represent the purchased device. For more complex features, see the following pages.
- There is only one adjustable foot.
- Varies by number and/or position.
- Available only on certain models.
Start-up and use
Starting the appliance
- Before starting the device, follow the installation instructions (see Installation).
- Before connecting the device, clean the compartments and accessories well with lukewarm water and bicarbonate.
- Plug the plug into the socket and make sure the internal light is on.
- Turn the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to an average value. After a few hours, you can bring food to the fridge.
Use the fridge to its full potential
The temperature in the refrigerator compartment adjusts automatically according to the position of the thermostat knob.
- 1 = warmest
- 5 = coldest
However, we recommend a medium position. The refrigerator’s cooling section is located in the back wall of the refrigerator compartment for more space and improved aesthetics. During operation, the back wall is covered with frost or water droplets, depending on whether the compressor is running or stopped. Don’t worry, the fridge is working normally
If the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT KNOB has been set too high values with large quantities of food and with a high ambient temperature, the appliance may operate continuously, resulting in excessive frost formation and excessive energy consumption: compensate this by moving the knob towards lower values (the shutdown occurs automatically ).
In static devices, the air circulates in a natural way: the colder air tends to move downwards as it is heavier. The food should be stored as follows:
food | The arrangement inside the refrigerator |
---|---|
Fresh fish and meat | About the fruit and vegetable offices |
Fresh cheese | About the fruit and vegetable offices |
Cooked food | On every shelf |
Salami, bread, chocolate | On every shelf |
Fruits and vegetables | In the fruit and vegetable |
compartment bins
Eggs| On the shelf provided
butter and margarine| On the shelf provided
Bottle, drink, and milk| On the shelves provided
- Place only cold or lunch food in the compartment, not hot food (see precautions and tips).
- Remember that cooked foods do not last longer than raw foods.
- Do not store liquids in open containers. They increase the humidity in the refrigerator and cause condensation.
Shelves: with or without a grill. Thanks to the special guides, the
shelves are removable and the height is adjustable (see diagram), which allows
easy storage of large containers and food. Height can be adjusted without
complete removal of the shelf.
Using the freezer to its full potential
- Do not re-freeze food that is defrosting or that has already been defrosted. These foods must be cooked and eaten (within 24 hours).
- Fresh food that needs to be frozen must not come into contact with food that has already been defrosted. Fresh food must be stored above the grill in the freezer compartment and if possible be in direct contact with the walls (side and rear), where the temperature drops below -18°C and guarantees rapid freezing.
- Do not place glass bottles that contain liquids, and which are corked or hermetically sealed in the freezer because they could break.
- The maximum quantity of food that may be frozen daily is indicated on the plate containing the technical properties located on the bottom left side of the refrigerator compartment (for example Kg/24h: 4)
- In order to obtain a greater amount of space in the freezer compartment, you may remove the bins (except the lowest bin and the special COOL CARE ZONE bin, which has an adjustable temperature) and place the food directly onto the evaporator plates.
- Do not open the door during freezing.
- If there is a power cut or malfunction, do not open the freezer door. This will help maintain the temperature inside the freezer, ensuring that foods are conserved for at least 9 -14 hours.
- If the room temperature drops below 14°C for an extended period of time, the ideal temperature will not be reached in the freezer compartment and food preservation will be reduced.
Ice tray
The fact that they sit on the upper part of the fridge drawers ensures greater cleanliness: the ice no longer comes into contact with the food placed in the fridge; In addition, the dripping of water during filling is avoided (a lid to covers the hole after filling with water is also provided).
- Eject the tray by pushing it up. Check that the tray is completely empty and fill it with water through the opening provided.
- Be careful not to exceed the indicated level (MAX WATER LEVEL). Excess water prevents the ice cubes from pouring out (if this happens, wait until the ice melts and the tray is empty).
- Turn the tray 90°: through the connected compartments, each mold fills with water (see diagram).
- Close the opening with the provided cover and replace the tray.
- When the ice has formed (at least 8 hours) tap the tray against a hard surface and moisten the outside so that the ice cubes loosen and take them out through the opening.
Maintenance and care
Switching the appliance off
During cleaning and maintenance, it is necessary to disconnect the device from the power supply: it is not enough to put the temperature adjustment button on (device off) to eliminate all electrical contact.
Cleaning the appliance
- The external and internal parts, as well as the rubber seals, can be cleaned with a sponge soaked in lukewarm water and bicarbonate of soda or neutral soap. Do not use solvents, abrasive products, bleach, or ammonia.
- The removable accessories can be washed in warm water and soap or detergent. Rinse and dry them carefully.
- The back of the device can collect dust, which can be gently removed with the hose of a vacuum cleaner on medium power. The device must be switched off and unplugged before cleaning the device.
Avoid mold and unpleasant odors
- The device is manufactured with hygienic materials that are odorless. To maintain an odor-free refrigerator and to prevent the formation of stains, the food must always be covered or sealed.
- If you want to turn off the device for a longer period of time, clean the inside and leave the doors open.
Defrosting the appliance
Follow the instructions below. Do not use objects with sharp or pointed edges to expose the device, as these may damage the cooling circuit beyond repair.
Defrosting the refrigerator compartment
The refrigerator has an automatic drain function: water is directed to the back of the appliance through a special outlet (see diagram), where the heat produced by the compressor evaporates. It is necessary to clean the drain hole regularly so that the water flows out easily.
Defrosting the freezer compartment
If the frost layer is greater than 5 mm, it is necessary to defrost manually:
-
Set the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to the position.
-
Wrap frozen food in newspaper and place it in another freezer or in a cool place.
-
Leave the door open until the frost is completely melted. This can be facilitated by placing containers of hot water in the freezer compartment.
-
Clean and dry the freezer carefully before turning the device back on.
-
Certain appliances are fitted with the DRAIN SYSTEM to lead the water outside: and let the water flow into a container (see diagram).
-
Wait for approximately 2 hours, i.e. until the ideal storage conditions have been restored, before placing food in the freezer compartment.
The relief of the bulb
To replace the light bulb in the refrigerator compartment, pull the plug from
the socket. Follow the instructions below. Access the bulb by removing the
cover as shown in the diagram. Replace it with a similar bulb in the power
range indicated on the cover (15W or 25W).
Precautions and tips
The device has been designed and manufactured in compliance with international safety standards. The following warnings are provided for safety reasons and must be read carefully.
This device complies with the following Community directives:
- 73/23/EEC of 19/02/73 (Low Voltage) and subsequent amendments;
- 89/336/EWG of 03.05.89 (Electromagnetic compatibility) and subsequent amendments;
- 2002/96/CE.
General security
- The device was designed for domestic use and is not intended for commercial or industrial use.
- The appliance must be used to store and freeze food products only by adults and according to the instructions in this manual.
- The device must not be installed outdoors, not even in covered areas. It is extremely dangerous to expose the device to rain and storms.
- Do not touch the device with bare feet or with wet or damp hands and feet.
- Do not touch the internal cooling elements: this could cause skin abrasions or frost/freezer burns.
- When unplugging the device, always pull the plug from the socket, do not pull on the cable.
- Before cleaning and maintenance, always switch off the device and disconnect it from the electrical supply. It is not enough to turn the temperature adjustment button on (device off) to eliminate all electrical contact.
- In the event of a malfunction, you should under no circumstances attempt to repair the device yourself. Repairs made by inexperienced persons may cause injuries or further malfunctions of the device.
- Do not use sharp or pointed utensils or electrical equipment – other than the manufacturer’s type – in the frozen food storage compartments.
- Do not take ice cubes directly from the freezer into your mouth.
- This device is not intended for persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- Keep the packaging material out of the reach of children! There may be a suffocation or suffocation hazard.
Disposal
- Observe local environmental standards when disposing of packaging material for recycling purposes.
- The European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) requires that old electrical household appliances are not disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately to optimize the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and to reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The symbol of the extended “wheeled bin” on the product reminds you of your obligation that when you dispose of the device, it must be collected separately. Consumers can take their old device to public waste collection areas, other municipal collection areas, or if national legislation allows, return it to a retailer when purchasing a similar new product.
Respect and preserve the environment
- Install the device in a fresh and well-ventilated room. Make sure it is protected from direct sunlight and do not place it near heat sources.
- Try to avoid leaving the door open for a long time or opening the door too often to save energy.
- Do not fill the appliance with too much food: cold air must circulate freely for food to be preserved properly. If the circulation is prevented, the compressor will work continuously.
- Do not put hot food directly into the refrigerator. The internal temperature rises and forces the compressor to work harder and will consume more energy.
- Remove the device if ice forms (see Maintenance). A thick layer of ice makes a cold transfer to food products more difficult and leads to more energy consumption.
- Regularly check the door seals and wipe them clean to ensure they are free of dirt and to prevent cold air from escaping (see maintenance)
Troubleshooting
If the device does not work, before calling for assistance (see Assistance), check for a solution from the following list.
Malfunctions: | Possible causes/solutions: |
---|---|
The internal light does not illuminate. |
- The plug has not been inserted into the electrical socket, not far enough to make contact, or there is no power in the house.
The refrigerator and freezer do not cool well.|
- The doors do not close properly or the seals are damaged.
- The doors open too often.
- The TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob is not in the correct position.
- The fridge or freezer is full.
- The atmospheric temperature of the area around the device is less than 14 °C
The food inside the fridge starts to freeze.|
- The TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob is not in the correct position.
- The food is in contact with the back inside the wall of the refrigerator.
The engine runs continuously.|
- The door does not close properly or is opened continuously.
- The outside temperature is very high.
- The frost thickness exceeds 2-3 mm (see maintenance).
The device makes a lot of noise.|
- The device has not been installed on a flat surface (see installation).
- The device was installed between cabinets that vibrate and make noise.
- The internal refrigerant makes a slight noise even when the compressor is not on. This is not a defect, it is normal.
---|---
Some of the external parts of the refrigerator get hot.|
- These elevated temperatures are necessary to prevent the formation of condensation on various parts of the product.
The rear wall of the refrigerator unit is covered with frost or drops of water.|
- This indicates that the device is working normally.
There is water on the bottom of the fridge.|
- The water outlet hole is blocked (see maintenance).
Excess moisture/ice on the back of the refrigerator.|
- Excess moisture/ice will occur if the larder door is left open for extended periods of time. This will disappear when the door is closed and the larder is allowed to evaporate and soak up the moisture. This is normal for the cooling function of the larder room, especially in the summer period.
Warm Fridge
|
- If room temperatures are 7 C or lower (for example the product is located in a garage or outbuilding), for the refrigerator to operate correctly the “Fast Freeze switch” must be in the ‘ON’ position.

FAQ’s
What temperature should an Indesit fridge freezer be set to?
The third setting on the thermostat or the midpoint of the indicator line is what we advise you to use.
What do the numbers on a refrigerator model Indesit NCAA 55 NX mean?
The refrigerant power is shown by the numbers on the refrigerator’s temperature dial. The refrigerator will maintain a cooler temperature as the number rises. Your refrigerator will be the coolest when you set it to 5. With that out of the way, it should be emphasized that improved food storage does not necessarily equate to a lower fridge temperature.
What does Indesit’s warranty cover?
Join Indesit Service to activate your complimentary 10-year parts warranty. versatile, adaptable, and effective. The New Indesit Extra ensures the best possible food preservation.
What does the Indesit refrigerator freezer’s rapid freeze button do?
Press the switch to “I” to turn “Fast Freeze” ON. In order to guarantee that the essential temperatures are attained fast, this switch engages vigorous cooling. Return the switch to the OFF position, or “0,” once the fresh food has been frozen. Make sure “Rapid Freeze” is turned off after 24 hours in order to save energy.
What temperature should a refrigerator be at?
The Food and Drug Administration states that 40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower is the recommended refrigerator temperature (FDA). These temperatures prevent the growth of bacteria including salmonella, listeria, and E. coli that can result in foodborne diseases.
What setting should my refrigerator be on?
Indeed, a fridge set at 37° F will keep fresh food fresh for as long as possible, preventing the growth of germs in raw meats or ice crystals on greens. In the freezer, keeping food completely frozen requires a temperature of 0°F.
How can I avoid having a frozen refrigerator?
The top shelf of the majority of refrigerators has a cooling vent above or to the side. Keeping food away from this area may prevent freezing as here is where the majority of the cold air is coming from. (A radius of five inches should work.) If a door shelf is the trouble spot, you might wish to move it.
What temperature in an Indesit NCAA 55 NX refrigerator is the coldest?
Certain Indesit NCAA 55 NX refrigerators operate on a setting that ranges from 1 to 5, rather than displaying the temperature. The refrigerating power is shown by the numbers on the refrigerator’s temperature dial. Thus, the fridge will be colder the higher the setting. The coldest setting for your refrigerator is number 5.
Where can I locate my Indesit model?
The model number is written on a sticker or rating plate. Usually, you may find this on the door frame, behind it, or behind the kickplate panel at the base of the machine.
What distinguishes rapid freezing from slow freezing?
Food crystals get smaller when it freezes more quickly. Cell walls are less harmed by little crystals. Large ice crystals created by slow freezing can pierce cell membranes.
What occurs while the refrigerator is in defrost mode?
At the evaporator portion at the back of the freezer, the defrost system turns on a defrost heater. The evaporator coils’ frost is removed by this heater, which subsequently shuts off. There won’t be any running noises, fan noise, or compressor noise during defrosting.
How can I tell whether my refrigerator is cool enough?
A temperature of 37 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal for keeping food cold. Install a thermometer inside your refrigerator if you’re unsure of the ideal temperature for one.
What does the switch on my Indesit refrigerator do?
There is a manual “Fast Freezer” switch on the appliance. Turn on “Quick Freeze” while adding new food for freezing. Press the switch to “I” to turn “Fast Freeze” ON. In order to guarantee that the essential temperatures are attained fast, this switch engages vigorous cooling.
Why isn’t the Indesit refrigerator cold?
This frequently results from an issue with the electrical system, such as faulty plugs, switches, fuses, or circuit breakers.
What does 7 on a refrigerator mean?
The most accurate definition is almost usually “cooling power”. In other words, putting it to 7 makes it coldest, to 1 makes it warmest, and to 0 turns it off.
