Gimbal Charging & Smartphone Charging

Charge the gimbal fully before using it for the first time.

Landscape Mode: Mounting and Balancing

Do not turn on the gimbal without smartphone mounted on! Highly recommended to remove the phone case before mounting.
For increasing motor efficiency and stabilization, and saving gimbal battery life, you could roughly balance the gimbal before turning it on.

For smartphone with screen size bigger than 6.7 inches (e.g. iPhone 13 Pro Max), i Steady Mobile Plus can work well even without a perfect balancing before powering on.

Pull the phone clamp and mount the phone.
Keep the back of the phone clinging to the phone clamp, and pus the bottom of the phone to the rightmost to close to the
motor.
Loosen the knob, slide the arm to balance the two ends, and screw up the knob after the gimbal is roughly balanced.
Long press the function button for 3 seconds to turn on the gimbal.

Portrait Mode: Mounting and Balancing

Please turn off the gimbal first, and then rotate the phone clamp and mount the phone.
Do not turn on the gimbal without the phone mounted!

Loosen the knob, slide the arm to the leftmost, and screw up the knob after the gimbal is roughly balanced.
Rotate the phone clamp 90 degrees.
Pull the phone clamp.
Mount the phone.
Move the phone up or down to roughly balance.
Long press the function button for 3 seconds to turn on the gimbal.

App “Hohem Gimbal” Instruction

Bluetooth Connection

Turn on the phone’s Bluetooth, and DO NOT pair with the gimbal’s Bluetooth.
Enter the “Hohem Gimbal” app, select the correct product model, and click “CONNECT DEVICE”.
Choose the Bluetooth “iSteady Mobile +” to connect the gimbal and app.
(Gimbal’s Bluetooth light will show solid green when the connection is successful.)

Object Tracking
Click the object tracking icon, and frame selected the object on phone screen (selective are shows red).
After selection, the selected frame shows green, and the camera will follow the object’s movement.

App “Hohem Gimbal” Instruction Other App Functions

Gimbal Specs Setting:

Following Speed (To adjust the following speed of pan/tilt/roll axes)
Joystick Speed (To adjust the rotating speed by control the joystick)
Following Dead Area (No following movement when the rotate angle is less than dead area setting)
Trim (To adjust the tilt/roll axis in small angle to get a perfect balance)
Joystick Reverse (To reverse the rotation direction by control the joystick)
Motor Torsion (To adjust the motor torsion of pan/tilt/roll axes, which is useful to solve the vibrate issue due to lightweight or overweight mobile phone)

Firmware Upgrade:
The firmware is subject to upgrade without a fixed schedule.
Firmware upgrade is helping to optimize the working of gimbal.

Calibration:
It requires to calibrate the gimbal only when you notice any kind of not level or drift on any of axes.

Calibration

It requires to calibrate the gimbal if notice it is not work properly as below.

The pitch angle is not level with the horizontal surface.
The roll angle is not parallel to the horizontal surface.
The pan axis drifts when the gimbal is on all lock mode.

Calibration Instruction
Method 1: Off-line Calibration

Power on the gimbal, long press the mode button over 6 seconds till the mode light on.
Laying the gimbal on a static flat surface without any vibrate. Calibration is completed once the mode light flash twice.

Method 2: 6-Side Calibration Via App
Please make sure the gimbal is connected with app via Bluetooth successfully, then enter “Calibration” and follow the instruction in the app calibrate the gimbal.

Firmware Upgrade

Please make sure the gimbal is connected with app via Bluetooth successfully, then enter the “Firmware Upgrade” and follow the instruction to upgrade the latest firmware.

FAQ’s

Q: Why the gimbal vibrates after powering on?

A: Make sure your smartphone is mounted firmly and well balanced before powering on
the gimbal, do not turn on the gimbal without a balanced load, as doing so many
damage the motors, please refer to page 5,6 for more details.
For some lightweight mobile phone, it needs to adjust the motor torsion, please refer to
page 10 F for details.

Q: How to connect the gimbal via app?

A: The gimbal has dual-mode Bluetooth, App Bluetooth control App camera, and phone
Bluetooth control phone camera. *Make sure to connect App Bluetooth for the first use.
Follow the steps: 1. Turn on phone Bluetooth, 2. Turn on gimbal, 3. Open App Hohem
Gimbal, 4. Select “iSteady Mobile+”, 5. Click to enter, 6. Start to use App camera.
• If the connection fails the phone’s Bluetooth, ignore (or unpair) the device
“Smartphone Gimbal”, and re-enter App for connection.
• Control phone camera or third-party app by shutter button, you need to search
device “Smartphone Gimbal” on phone Bluetooth and connect successfully.

Q: How to do if the gimbal is not lever or drift after powering on?
