Work Smart – Work Safe! Most Header and Exhaust Installation are best performed on a lift. If a lift is not available, raise the vehicle and support on quality Jack Stands on level ground. Do not rely on a jack! We use sealing beads on all our headers.
The raised bead creates a better seal virtually eliminating leaks if installed properly. It is important to install all header bolts lightly snug and then tighten to factory torque specs starting in the center and working outward.
Before starting, allow the vehicle to cool, disconnect the battery, and spray a penetrating oil on all hardware and fittings that will need to be removed. Once you remove your manifold, clean the sealing surface on the head of any old gasket debris or carbon build up.

  1. From underneath the vehicle disconnect the exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds by unbolting the (3) bolts at the collectors. Then unbolt the driver side catalytic converter from the exhaust assembly and temporarily remove it from the vehicle.
  2. On the passenger side remove the (4) bolts attaching the heat shields to the factory manifold.
  3. Carefully unplug the O2 sensor from its harness.
  4. Remove the nuts attaching the factory manifold to the cylinder head. With the manifold out of the way, remove the mounting studs from the cylinder head.
  5. Clean the sealing surface on the cylinder head.
  6. Transfer the 02 sensor from the factory manifold to the new passenger side header. Apply a small amount of anti seize to the threads for the sensor before installing.
  7. Apply anti seize to the threads of the header bolts. Install the new JBA Header using the supplied gasket and fasteners. Tighten evenly starting from the center out. DRIVER’S SIDE

  14. Install the driver side catalytic converter. Connect the exhaust system to the new headers using hardware and gaskets supplied. Reconnect O2 sensors.
  15. Check to insure adequate clearance between header and shifter cable. More clearance can be gained by adjusting (bending) brace on fender well.
  16. Start the engine and let it warm up Check for leaks. Shut engine off and let it cool down. Check to make sure all fasteners are tight.
