PRODUCT SAFETY

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • WARNING: For the purposes of recharging the battery, only use the detachable supply unit provided with this appliance.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR GLUE GUNS
A fire may result if the appliance is not used with care, therefore

  • be careful when using the appliance in places where there are combustible materials;
  • do not apply to the same place for a long time;
  • do not use in presence of an explosive atmosphere;
  • be aware that heat may be conducted to combustible materials that are out of sight;
  • place the appliance on its stand after use and allow it to cool down before storage;
  • do not leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.
SAFETY WARNINGS FOR BATTERY PACK
  • Do not dismantle, open or shred cells or battery pack.
  • Do not short-circuit a battery pack. Do not store battery packs haphazardly in a box or drawer where they may short-circuit each other or be short-circuited by conductive materials. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  • Do not expose battery pack to heat or fire. Avoid storage in direct sunlight.
  • Do not subject battery pack to mechanical shock.
  • In the event of battery leaking, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
  • Keep battery pack clean and dry.
  • Wipe the battery pack terminals with a clean dry cloth if they become dirty.
  •  Battery pack needs to be charged before use. Always refer to this instruction and use the correct charging procedure.
  •  After extended periods of storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the battery pack several times to obtain maximum performance.
  • Recharge only with the charger specified by Worx. Do not use any charger other than that specifically provided for use with the equipment.
  • Do not use any battery pack which is not designed for use with the equipment.
  • Keep battery pack out of the reach of children.
  • Retain the original product literature for future reference.
  • Remove the battery from the equipment when not in use.
  • Dispose of properly.
  • Do not mix cells of different manufacture, capacity, size or type within a device.
  • Keep the battery away from microwaves and high pressure.

MakerX series tools and 20V Hub/HubX are specially designed to work together, so do not attempt to use any other devices.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Before using the tool, read the instruction book carefully.

INTENDED USE

The tool can be used for bonding wood, leather, plastics ,papers and other mate-rials.

ASSEMBLY
  1. Insert the appropriate glue stick for the material being glued via the hole at the rear of the glue gun.Use 7.2mm mini glue sticks (See Fig. A)
  2. Connect the gun and the hub. (See Fig. B)
    WARNING: Before operation, make sure the speed control button on the hub is at the “Min” position. (See Fig. C) and the surfaces to be  glued must be clean, dry and free of grease.
    NOTE :The speed control does not work with the glue gun. The speed control is for other tools, such as the MakerX Rotary Tool or Angle Grinder.

OPERATION

  1. Confirm the speed control button is set to “Min”. Grasp the tool by the grip.  Press the on/off switch on the hub. Then press button on the tool for 3s until the it turns red ,which means the glue gun is heating. When the light turns green, the gun is ready for operation. Press the trigger for gluing. (See Fig. D,E,F) After applying the glue, immediately press the surfaces to be glued together.
    NOTE: It is recommended to apply the glue on large surfaces or long work pieces in the form of points. On flexible materials, apply in lines.
    WARNING: Do not allow the hot glue or the nozzle tip to come into contact with persons or animals.If hot glue contacts with the skin, do not try to remove the glue from the skin,but put the affected area immediately under a stream of cold water for several minutes.

  2. Press the power button until the light goes out. Then press the on/off switch on the hub to turn off after use.
    NOTE: In order to save energy, the glue gun switches off automatically after 10 minutes.
    NOTE: Put down the glue gun in a safe way and allow it to cool down completely before packing it away after each use.

MAINTENANCE

Remove the battery before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
There are no user serviceable parts in your power tool. Never use water or chemical cleaners to clean your power tool. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always store your power tool in a dry place. Keep the motor ventilation slots clean. Keep all working controls free of dust. Occasionally you may see sparks through the ventilation slots. This is normal and will not damage your power tool.
Store the accessories in a dry place.

WARNING: Do not use inflammable solvents for cleaning the surfaces to be glued. For excess hardened glue, it can be removed with a blunt object. Do not use solvent for cleaning.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problems: Possible Causes: Possible Solution

  • No glue comes out

    • Glue stick is used up. Glue stick diameter is too large or small.
      Glue stick is not pushed to the end.

    • Insert a new glue stick. Use recommended glue sticks. Push the glue stick to the end when loading.

  • Glue stick falls out  from the tool.

    • Glue stick diameter is too small.
    • Use recommended glue sticks.
  • There is glue leaking out without trigger pressed after use.

    • The temperature is still high in short time after use and will cause glue melted.
    • It is normal and will stop leaking out when the glue gun cools down.
  • Trigger is blocked for glue escaping toward the rear.

    • Glue stick diameter too small. Glue stick’s melting temperature is too low.
    • Use recommended glue sticks.
  • Glue does not flow evenly.

    • Glue stick’s melting temperature is too low. Glue is not heated long enough. Trigger is not pressed uniformly.
    • Wait for heating. Allow the glue gun time to heat up. Press trigger slowly and uniformly.
  • Adhesive surface only bonds on one side.

    • Adhesive already partially has cooled off before work-pieces have been bonded.
    • Bond work-pieces in a quicker way. Set gluing points instead of applying glue over surface.
  • Adhesive bond doesn’t work after cooling.

    • Surface is greasy or too smooth. Surface is dusty. Unsuitable material or work-piece.
    • Roughen adhesive surface slightly. Clean the surface. Use specialized adhesive.
  • Glued tiles in moist locations are not adhesive.

    • Moisture spreads under bonding parts.
    • Suggest to use specialized adhensive suitable for moist locations
  • Glued shoe soles are not adhesive.

    • Moisture causes leather to puff up and creeps under bonding location.
    • Use specialized adhesive.
  • Strands are pulled out when removing the glue gun from the work-piece.

    • Trigger is still pressed after operation. Nozzle has not been wiped off.
    • Discontinue pressing trigger before completing the operation. Wipe off nozzle.
  • Work-piece melts.

    • Work-piece contains material that melts at a low temperature.
    • Use specialized adhesive.
  • Burns on fingers when applying adhesive.

    • Adhesive penetrates through paper/ fabric/tissue
    • Metal work-piece has heated up.
    • Do not hold work-piece in hand. Apply adhesive with work-piece placed on heat-resistant silicone pad or base.
    • Do not hold work-piece in hand. Apply adhesive with work-piece placed on heat-resistant silicone pad or base. Clamp work-piece.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Waste electrical products must not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your local authorities or retailer for recycling advice.
