Quickstart
This is a
secure
Alarm Sensor
for
Europe.
To run this device please insert fresh *2 CR123A** batteries.
Please make sure the internal battery is fully charged.
If your Z-Wave gateway supports SmartStart, you can scan the QR code on the MultiSensor 7 to automatically pair the sensor if your Z-Wave hub supports this.
Important safety information

What is Z-Wave?
Z-Wave is the international wireless protocol for communication in the Smart
Home. This
device is suited for use in the region mentioned in the Quickstart section.
Z-Wave ensures a reliable communication by reconfirming every message ( two-
way
communication) and every mains powered node can act as a repeater for other
nodes
( meshed network ) in case the receiver is not in direct wireless range of
the
transmitter.
This device and every other certified Z-Wave device can be used together
with any other
certified Z-Wave device regardless of brand and origin as long as both are
suited for the
same frequency range.
If a device supports secure communication it will communicate with other
devices
secure as long as this device provides the same or a higher level of security.
Otherwise it will automatically turn into a lower level of security to
maintain
backward compatibility.

Product Description
Aeotec MultiSensor 7 was developed to detect ambient values and movement and to transmit them with Z-Wave Plus. It is powered by Aeotec’s Gen7 technology. You can find out more about MultiSensor 7 by following that link.
Prepare for Installation / Reset
Please read the user manual before installing the product.
In order to include (add) a Z-Wave device to a network it must be in factory
default
state. Please make sure to reset the device into factory default. You can do
this by
performing an Exclusion operation as described below in the manual. Every
Z-Wave
controller is able to perform this operation however it is recommended to use
the primary
controller of the previous network to make sure the very device is excluded
properly
from this network.
Reset to factory default
This device also allows to be reset without any involvement of a Z-Wave
controller. This
procedure should only be used when the primary controller is inoperable.
Press and hold the button for 20 seconds. When the red led flashes, the device will enter the factory reset mode.
Safety Warning for Batteries
The product contains batteries. Please remove the batteries when the device is
not used.
Do not mix batteries of different charging level or different brands.
Installation
Determine the power type you want to use.
MultiSensor 7 can be a sleeping battery device or a repeater as a USB-powered device. Make sure you select your preferred power type before you start pairing.
Note – Any time you change the input power type (ie. Battery to USB power), you should re-include as your Z-Wave hub will only understand if it is a sleeping device or a Repeater device upon its first pair into your controller.
For a USB powered installation (acts as a repeater when paired on USB power):
1. Remove the battery cover by sliding the Unlock button LEFT, then pull the cover off.
2. Insert the MicroUSB of the provided USB cable into your sensor‘s MicroUSB port.
3. Insert the larger end of the USB cable into a computer or any 5V adapter which will immediately power your MultiSensor 7.
4. Make sure to seat the Battery Cover back onto the MultiSensor 7 and lock it in by sliding the Unlock button RIGHT.
For a battery-powered installation (acts as a sleeping device when paired on battery power):
1. Remove the battery cover by sliding the Unlock button LEFT, then pull the cover off.
2. Insert two CR123A lithium batteries orientated according to the diagram within your sensor.
Try inserting the batteries flat rather than at an angle.
Note: MultiSensor 7 can be powered by a single CR123A (doesn‘t matter which port), though batteries will require changing more frequently (half the expected battery life).
WARNING: Not compatible with rechargeable CR123A batteries (3.6V).
3. Make sure to seat the Battery Cover back onto the MultiSensor 7 and lock it in by sliding the Unlock button RIGHT.
To install your TriSensor with the Back-Mount Plate;
1. You can affix the Back-Mount Arm by Double-Sided Tape or using the provided KA2.5ƒ-20 mm screws.
Tips: We suggest you choose the second method (using screws to affix the Back- Mount Arm) which would be more stable.
2. After you have completed the affixing of Back-Mount Arm, you will need to lock TriSensor to the Back-Mount Arm by screwing TriSensor in.
3. The Back-Mount Arm may be locked at various angles by turning the Friction Lock clockwise and counter-clockwise to respectively tighten or loosen the angle of the arm. You can rotate the Friction Lock to change the measurement area of sensor.
Inclusion/Exclusion
On factory default the device does not belong to any Z-Wave network. The
device needs
to be added to an existing wireless network to communicate with the
devices of this network.
This process is called Inclusion.
Devices can also be removed from a network. This process is called
Exclusion.
Both processes are initiated by the primary controller of the Z-Wave network.
This
controller is turned into exclusion respective inclusion mode. Inclusion and
Exclusion is
then performed doing a special manual action right on the device.
Inclusion
1. Open the Cover
2. Insert the battery or connect the USB cable
3. Press the button once
4. If prompted, enter the 5 digit DSK code.
Exclusion

LED will disappear as soon as you release its button. The MultiSensor 7 will send a wakeup report to your Z-Wave Controller to take in any queued z-wave commands waiting in your controller.
Press and hold [5, 9 seconds)| Solid Orange| Long Wakeup Mode
LED will remain solid Orange upon release of its button for 5 minutes maximum (or until told to sleep by user or z-wave controller). This will allow you to easily configure this device while the sensor is used with battery power assuming your Z-Wave controller does not queue the command.
Press and hold [9, 15 seconds)| Solid Cyan| Communication Health Test (Direct gateway communication – does not test through repeaters).
This will test your MultiSensor 7 direct communication to your Z-Wave Controller. It will remain Cyan while it is testing.
Once finished it will become a solid color for 2 seconds as red, yellow, or green to indicate health:
Red = Bad health, can‘t communicate at all.
Yellow = Moderate health, could use improvement, some communcation missed.
Green = Great health

Communication to a Sleeping device (Wakeup)
This device is battery operated and turned into deep sleep state most of the
time
to save battery life time. Communication with the device is limited. In order
to
communicate with the device, a static controller C is needed in the
network.
This controller will maintain a mailbox for the battery operated devices and
store
commands that can not be received during deep sleep state. Without such a
controller,
communication may become impossible and/or the battery life time is
significantly
decreased.
This device will wakeup regularly and announce the wakeup
state by sending out a so called Wakeup Notification. The controller can then
empty the mailbox. Therefore, the device needs to be configured with the
desired
wakeup interval and the node ID of the controller. If the device was included
by
a static controller this controller will usually perform all necessary
configurations. The wakeup interval is a tradeoff between maximal battery
life time and the desired responses of the device. To wakeup the device please
perform
the following action:
Waking up MultiSensor 7.
In order to configure Multisensor 7, you must either (1) wake up Multisensor 7 using the below button press function, or (2) temporarily put your Multisensor 7 on USB power.
This section will go over the manual wakeup of this sensor in case you don‘t want to wait for configuration.
Quick Wakeup.
1. Press and hold Multisensor 7 Action button
2. Wait until the LED turns into a Red Color (1 – 2 seconds)
3. Release Multisensor 7 Action Button, the LED should turn off right away. Any queued commands in your Z-Wave Controller will be sent over.
Long Wakeup.
1. Press and hold Multisensor 7 Action button
2. Wait until the LED turns into a solid orange color (2 – 5 seconds)
3. Release Multisensor 7 Action Button, the LED should remain solid orange while it is awake. Send any configurations from your hub (assuming the commands are not queued).
- If the MultiSensor 7 LED orange LED turns off right away, this would indicate that your hub is putting your device to sleep. Try un-powering your hub temporarily, follow steps 1-3 again, then power up your hub again.
4. Tap the Action Button on Multisensor 7 to put Multisensor 7 back to sleep, or wait 5 minutes. (recommended to manually put it back to sleep to conserve battery life).
Quick trouble shooting
Here are a few hints for network installation if things dont work as expected.
- Make sure a device is in factory reset state before including. In doubt exclude before include.
- If inclusion still fails, check if both devices use the same frequency.
- Remove all dead devices from associations. Otherwise you will see severe delays.
- Never use sleeping battery devices without a central controller.
- Dont poll FLIRS devices.
- Make sure to have enough mains powered device to benefit from the meshing
Association – one device controls an other device
Z-Wave devices control other Z-Wave devices. The relationship between one
device
controlling another device is called association. In order to control a
different
device, the controlling device needs to maintain a list of devices that will
receive
controlling commands. These lists are called association groups and they are
always
related to certain events (e.g. button pressed, sensor triggers, …). In case
the event happens all devices stored in the respective association group will
receive the same wireless command wireless command, typically a ‘Basic Set’
Command.

Configuration Parameters
Z-Wave products are supposed to work out of the box after inclusion, however
certain configuration can adapt the function better to user needs or unlock
further
enhanced features.
IMPORTANT: Controllers may only allow configuring
signed values. In order to set values in the range 128 … 255 the value sent in
the application shall be the desired value minus 256. For example: To set a
parameter to 200 it may be needed to set a value of 200 minus 256 = minus
56.
In case of a two byte value the same logic applies: Values greater than 32768
may
needed to be given as negative values too.
Parameter 1: Beaming Enable/Disable
Used to enable/disable beaming.If set to 1, FLiRs commands will be
supported. But the device must be re-included into the network to activate
it.

Presence re-detection time set in second to allow motion sensor to reset
timeout of motion sensor. In this time, the motion sensor can not be triggered
