Important safety information

  • The appliance is suitable for use by children aged 8+, people with limited physical, sensory or mental capacities, and inexperienced and unskilled users, provided that they are supervised or have been taught how to use the appliance safely and have understood the associated risks.

  • Children must not play with the appliance.

  • Children aged 8+ should not be allowed to clean or maintain the appliance unless supervised.

  • Keep the appliance and power cable out of reach of children under 8 years of age.

  • If the power cable is damaged, it must be returned to the manufacturer’s central customer service department or another approved person for replacement. Unauthorized repairs could put the user at considerable risk.

  • The appliance must not be operated using an external timer switch or remote control.

  • Clean all parts immediately after use and remove any scraps of food.

  • Follow the instructions in the section on Cleaning and care.

  • The appliance is designed for indoor domestic use only.

  • This appliance is intended for domestic and equivalent use, such as:

    • in staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other commercial environments
    • on agricultural holdings
    • by guests in hotels, motels and other residential facilities
    • At bed-and-breakfast establishments.
      The appliance is not suitable for commercial use.
  • Do not use the ice bag which is not provided by manufacturer. Otherwise, it will cause hazard.

  • Warning: Don’t use the device when the glass plate is damaged or cracked.

  • The appliance should be dry before use it again.

Before use

Read the instruction manual carefully. The manual contains important information about operating and caring for the appliance, plus safety instructions. Keep the manual in a safe place and pass it on to any future owners.
Only use the appliance as intended and described in the instruction manual. Always follow the safety instructions when using the appliance.

Additional safety information

  • The appliance must only be used with a properly fitted power sockets. Keep the power cable and plug dry at all times.
  • The power cable must not come into contact with hot appliance parts.
  • Any extension cable used must be in good condition. Make sure that the cable is long enough and does not constitute a hazard.
  • Place the appliance on a table when in use, with room for airflow; the appliance must not be allowed to touch walls or solid objects.
  • Place the appliance on a flat, sturdy surface.
  • Do not place the appliance on delicate surfaces or soft furnishings such as glass tables, tablecloths and varnished furniture.
  • Do not use the appliance and unplug immediately in the following situations:
    • If the appliance or power cable is damaged
    • If you suspect that the appliance has developed a fault following a fall or shock In such cases, return the appliance to be repaired.
  • Warning: When the appliance is switched on, the outer surfaces can get very hot and will stay hot after the appliance has been switched off.
  • Caution, risk of burns: Do not move the appliance when it is hot. The heated glass plate will be hot.
  • Do not use to warm up sealed cans and glassware: they may explode.
  • Always turn the appliance off after use. Unplug at socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely before removing and cleaning the glass plate.
  • Do not turn on the appliance when the glass plate has been removed – the hot heating element will be exposed.
  • Do not place kitchen utensils on the hotplate.
  • Warning: Risk of frostbite from direct and prolonged skin contact with cooling element.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended.
  • Unplug from the mains:
    • If the appliance develops a fault during use
    • Before cleaning and maintenance
    • After use
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water to clean.
  • The manufacturer does accepts no liability for any damage caused by misuse, incorrect operation or unauthorized repairs. Warranty claims will be deemed invalid in such cases.
  • Do not use any sharp or sharp-edged objects on the glass plate, as they could otherwise damage the glass plate.

Using the appliance

The WMF Ambient Cooling & warming plate can be used to keep food hot or cold. Food can be placed directly on the glass plate, which can be removed for easy cleaning. The WMF Ambient Light can also be used as a decorative feature to create a stylish atmosphere.

Using the appliance for the first time
  • Remove all packaging from the appliance.
  • Before using the appliance for the first time, clean the glass plate with hot water and washing-up liquid then dry carefully.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, level surface close to a plug socket.
  • Note: We recommend putting the appliance where you intend to use it, so as to avoid needing to move the appliance when hot.
  • Do not place any conductive objects next to the appliance. Remove any twists in the cable to ensure that the WMF Easy Touch technology can work properly.

Warming plate

  • he cooling elements must be removed from the appliance in order to use the warming plate function.

  • Carefully insert the glass plate in the appliance: you will hear it click into place. Warning: Do not use the appliance without the glass plate in any circumstances.

  • Plug the appliance in and press the on/off switch. The right-hand LED on the glass plate will light up white; this means that the appliance is in standby mode.

  • Use the touch controls to select on one of the four temperature settings for the hotplate: 50°C, 70°C, 90°C and 110°C.
    Warning: The heated glass plate will be hot. Do not touch when the appliance is working.
    For example: To heat the hotplate to 50°C, press the “+” symbol once; twice for 70°C, three times for 90°C, etc. The right-hand LED goes out and the left-hand LED on the glass plate fl ashes red to indicate that the appliance is being heated to the lowest temperature setting (50°C).

  • Once the target temperature has been reached, the LED will be a steady red. Food can now be placed on the glass plate to be kept warm.
    Warning: risk of burns: The heated glass plate will be hot. Do not move the plate when hot.
    Note: Make sure as much food as possible is in contact with the plate to maximise the warming effect. The lower temperature settings (50°C and 70°C) are ideal for keeping foodstuffs like pizza and slices of quiche warm on the glass plate. If the food is placed on a plate or other container then on the glass plate, the container will absorb a lot of the heat. You will therefore need to select a higher tempera-ture (90°C or 110°C) in order to keep the food warm effectively.’

  • To turn off the hotplate function after use, press the “-” symbol until the right-hand LED on the glass plate lights up white, then leave the appliance to cool completely.
    Note: The white LED will fl ash until the glass plate has completely cooled down in order to warn of the risk of burns. Do not begin cleaning (see section on “Cleaning and care”) until the white LED remains permanently lit white.

  • Note: For reasons of hygiene, do not keep warm your dished longer as needed.

Cooling function

  • The WMF Ambient cooling and warming plate includes two cooling plate elements. In order to provide maximum cooling capacity, the cooling elements must be chilled for at least four hours in the freezer at -18°C before being placed in the appliance.

  • Warning: Risk of frostbite from direct and prolonged skin contact with cooling element.

  • Warning: risk of burns: If the warming function has been used earlier, allow the appliance to cool completely before touching the glass plate and remove using the eject button. The hot plate must be cool to the touch before the cooling elements can be placed on it.

  • Carefully place the cooling elements on the hot plate, then fi t the glass plate onto the appliance –you will hear it click into place.

  • Caution: Always insert both cooling plate elements next to each other. Risk of glass breakage if the cooling plate elements overlap.

  • The cooling elements is held down so as to maximize contact with the glass plate. Depending on the air temperature, the cooling feature can be used for up to two hours.

  • Plug the appliance in and press the on/off switch. The right-hand LED on the glass plate will light up blue to show that the cooling function is active.

  • The blue LED light will turn off when the cooling function is no longer fully effective. The same LED will light up white to indicate that the appliance is in standby mode.

  • Turn the appliance off using the on/off switch after use. Turn off before cleaning (see section on Cleaning and care).
    Note: The air temperature may cause condensation to form on the glass and hotplate. After removing the cooling element, use a tea towel to wipe any condensation off the hotplate.

    NOTE: This product contains a light source with energy efficiency class D. Please note that the light element in the product is not intended for lighting purposes. The light element may be replaced by authorized service personnel.

  • The WMF Ambient Light can be used in conjunction with the warming or cooling functions: the appliance must be plugged in and turned on.

  • The WMF Ambient Light is operated using WMF Easy Touch technology. Use the Ambient Light touch control to turn the light on and off. Press the switch repeatedly to cycle through the three brightness settings and turn the light off.

  • One press =  10 % brightness

  • Two presses =  50 % brightness

  • Three presses = 100 % brightness

  • Four presses = turn off

Cleaning and care

  • Note: The air temperature may cause condensation to form on the glass and hotplate. After removing the cooling element, use a tea towel to wipe any condensation off the hotplate.

  • Unplug from the mains and if necessary allow the appliance to cool down.

  • It is best to remove any fat and food scraps with kitchen towel while the glass plate is still warm to the touch.

  • Once the glass plate is cool to the touch, press the eject button to remove from the appliance.

  • Wash the glass plate in lukewarm water with washing-up liquid and a sponge. The removable glass plate is also dishwasher safe.
    Note: Do not use abrasive detergents, metal scourers or oven cleaning products.

  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or add water to clean. Simply put a little washing-up liquid on a damp cloth, wipe the appliance and then pat dry.

For UK use only

  • This product is supplied with a 13 A plug conforming to BS 1363 fitted to the mains lead. If the plug is unsuitable for your socket outlets or needs to be replaced, please note the following. If the plug is a non-rewireable one, cut it from the mains lead and immediately dispose of it. Never insert it into a socket outlet as there is a very great risk of an electric shock.

  • The replacement of the plug at the mains lead has to be done according to the following instructions:
    Important: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
    blue  Neutral
    brown  Live
    As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:

    • the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black,
    • the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
      Do not connect any wire to the terminal which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol , or coloured green or green and yellow.
  • If a 13 A (BS 1363) plug is used it must be fitted with a 13 A fuse conforming to BS 1362 and be ASTA approved. If any other type of plug is used, the appliance must be protected by a 10 A fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board.
    If in doubt – consult a qualified electrician.

  • Never use the plug without closing the fuse cover.

The appliance complies with European directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU and 2009/125/EU.
At the end of its life, this product may not be disposed of in normal household waste, but must instead be taken to a collection point for recycling electrical and electronic appliances.
The materials are recyclable in accordance with their labelling. Reuse, recycling and other ways of reutilizing old appliances make an important contribution to protecting our environment.
Please ask your local authorities for information about the appropriate disposal point.
End users are personally responsible for deleting any personal data that may be stored on appliances they are disposing of.
