SAFEGUARD Dryzone Anti-Condensation Paint

Product Description

Dryzone® Anti-Condensation Paint has been specifically designed to reduce condensation from forming on treated surfaces. The glass microspheres in the paint increase the time to condensation, reducing the likelihood of mould growth and creating a surface that is warmer to the touch. It can be applied by brush or roller and is for internal use.

Application Information

Preparation
Preparation is similar to normal good decorative practice.

  1. Put down dust sheets before work begins
  2. Remove any loose material such as old paint, grease, dirt, mould or defective wallpaper
  3. If mould is present, thoroughly clean the area using Dryzone® 100 Mould Remover whilst avoid sanding the mould area to reduce spreading of spores.
  4. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  5. For glossy surfaces, lightly abrade the surface with abrasive paper avoiding inhalation of dust and wearing suitable personal protective equipment (face mask, gloves, safety spectacles etc).
  6. If necessary, apply an appropriate primer or sealer. This may be required for new, porous plaster, wooden surfaces or bare metal. Allow to dry thoroughly. New plasterwork should be allowed to dry for 7 – 14 days before applying any paint finish.

Application

It is not recommended to add coloured pigments or to use mechanical agitators as this could damage the glass microspheres within the paint. Ensure the area is well ventilated. Stir the paint gently and thoroughly before use. DO NOT use mechanical mixing tools. Use a medium pile roller (recommended) to apply 2 coats evenly, taking care not to over-apply as this may result in a thick, stippled finish. A foam roller may give a smoother final finish or a brush can be used if preferred. Light sanding is permitted to remove any high spots, nibs or stipples. For best results Dryzone® Anti-Condensation Paint can be left as the final finish. Allow the first coat to dry fully before applying the second coat. Each coat will typically be touch dry after 1 – 3 hours depending on temperature, humidity and airflow. Optimum dry film thickness is 225 – 250 microns after 2 coats. The surface temperature during application should be between 10 – 25 °C. Clean tools and equipment with warm water as soon as possible after use.
