( 2 ) Put your Lanai on a level surface in the most centrally-located room of your home. Make sure the unit is at least four inches from the wall and not under a window.

More about positioning:
  • To maximize humidity circulation, put your unit near a cold air return.
  • If you prefer to put your unit in the room where humidity is most needed, you can! But the humidity won’t circulate as well with this method.
  • Don’t put your humidifier under a window, as condensation may occur.
  • Put the unit on the bottom floor of a multi-story home.

( 3 ) Lift the top and remove the packaging from the wick. Insert the wick into the base.

( 4 ) With the wick in the base, fill the base with water. Your Lanai holds 1 gallon of water. Put the top on the base.

Note: For future refills, you can either remove the top and fill the base, or use the fill door on the side of the Lanai.

About water additives:
  • Do not use essential oils in your Lanai.
  • Do not use water softeners.
  • We recommend our Essick Air Bacteriostat to help inhibit mold growth.

( 5 ) Connect the power cord to the base and plug in your Lanai. Press the power button.

( 6 ) Press the humidity percentage button to set your humidity output from 25% to 65%. Your humidity output will pause when the set humidity level is reached, and resume when the humidity dips below your setting. When set to 65%, your unit will run continuously.

( 7 ) Set your desired fan speed by pressing the fan button . Your Lanai has four fan speeds that are displayed by F1 (the lowest speed) through F4 (the highest speed).

ABOUT THE CODES

F – A flashing F means your unit is low on water. A steady F means your Lanai is empty and needs to be FILLED with water.

CF – The CF code triggers after 2,160 hours of use and means it’s time to CHECK YOUR FILTER (wick). Unplug your unit and check your wick. If your wick is still in good shape, simply clear the code by plugging your humidifier back in. To reset the operation code, press and hold the power key for 3 seconds until the unit beeps.

( 8 ) Press the timer button to run your Lanai for up to 12 hours. Each press adds an hour to your runtime.

( 9 ) To turn on sleep mode, press the sleep mode button . After five seconds, the Lanai’s nightlight and panel lights will dim (your humidity setting will not change). Press the button again to turn the lights back on.

( 10 ) Press the nightlight button to turn on the Lanai’s LED multicolor nightlight. Once on, the colors will rotate. You can select a specific color by pressing the button again, then continue pressing until you find the color you like. After cycling through all of the colors, a final press will turn the nightlight off.

That’s it! Your Lanai is ready to use.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR LANAI

Regular cleaning is important for preventing mold, mildew, and other bacterial growth in your humidifier. It also keeps your Lanai working its best.

  1. Let the unit run until it’s empty, then turn it off and unplug it.
  2. Throw your wick away if it is time to replace it. Otherwise, remove it from the base and put the wick in a sink while you finish cleaning your Lanai.
  3. Pour out any remaining water from the base.
  4. Clean the base by filling it half-full with water. Add 1 cup of white vinegar and let it sit for 20 minutes. To disinfect, replace the vinegar with 1 teaspoon of bleach. Do not mix vinegar and bleach.
  5. After 20 minutes, empty the base.
  6. Dampen a sponge with white vinegar and wipe down the base. Rinse it thoroughly. To disinfect, replace the vinegar with bleach.
  7. With the Lanai unit, you have the option of cleaning your wick. The wick can be rinsed and soaked with clean water. Low pressure flushing is recommended. Cleaning time should not exceed 8 minutes.
  8. Wipe everything dry. Replace your wick or install a new one, then reassemble the unit.

When storing your Lanai, discard the used wick and disinfect the unit using the directions above. Dry the unit thoroughly, and store in a temperature-regulated area. Do not install a new wick until you are ready to use your humidifier again.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

( Q ) Where is my serial number?
( A ) Your serial number is on the sticker on the back of the base.
You can write it here for future reference:
AIRCARE Evaporative Humidifier - serial number

( Q ) Why isn’t my unit running?
( A ) • Make sure there is water in your unit. (SEE STEP 4)
• Your unit has reached your set humidity level. (SEE STEP 6)

( Q ) Why isn’t my humidity increasing?
( A ) • It can take 2-3 days for your new humidifier to bring your humidity up, especially if it is very dry in your home.
• If your wick is old, replace it with a new one.

( Q ) The display is flashing “20,” what does this mean?
( A ) Your humidity level is below 20%. Try increasing your fan speed and output level.

( Q ) The display is flashing“–,” what does this mean?
( A ) Your humidity level is over 90%. Try lowering your fan speed and output level.

( Q ) How often should I replace my wick?
( A ) Your water’s mineral content dictates how often your wick needs replacing. Harder water means more frequent changes. Using our Bacteriostat (part #1970) can help keep your unit cleaner and lengthen the life of your wick. Always change your wick at the beginning of every season.

( Q ) Can I order replacement parts?
( A ) Yes! Your Lanai’s parts and their part numbers are listed on page 2.
