IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical products, basic precautions should always be followed including the following:

  • READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Do not use seasonal products outdoors unless marked as suitable for indoor and outdoor use. When products are used in outdoor applications, connect the product to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupting (GFCI) outlet. If one is not provided, contact a qualified electrician for proper installation.
  • This seasonal use product is not intended for permanent installation or use.
  • Do not mount or place near gas or electric heaters, fireplace, candles, or other similar sources of heat.
  • Do not secure the wiring of the product with staples or nails, or place it on sharp hooks or nails.
  • Do not let lamps rest on the supply cord or on any wire.
  • Unplug the product when leaving the house, when retiring for the night, or if left unattended.
  • This is an electric product-not a toy! To avoid the risk of fire, burns, personal injury, and electric shock it should not be played with or placed where small children can reach it.
  • Do not use this product for other than its intended use.
  • Do not hang ornaments or other objects from the cord, wire, or light string.
  • Do not place lighting string on carpeting, drapes, or furniture, or allow it to contact vinyl siding while the power is on.
  • Do not perform any maintenance or troubleshooting for bad or broken lamps while the power is on.
  • Do not close doors or windows on the product or extension cords as this may damage the wire insulation.
  • Do not cover the product with cloth, paper, or any material not part of the product when in use.
  • This product is equipped with push-in type lamps. Do not twist lamps.
  • This product employs overload protection (fuse). A blown fuse indicates an overload or short-circuits situation. If the fuse blows, unplug the product from the outlet. Also, unplug any additional strings or products that may be attached to the product. Replace the fuse as per the user servicing instructions (follow product marking for proper fuse rating) and check the product. If the replacement fuse blows, a short-circuit may be present and the product should be discarded.
  • Read and follow all instructions that are on the product or provided with the product.

Use and Care Instructions

  • When the product is placed on a live tree, the tree should be well-maintained and fresh. Do not place on live trees in which the needles are brown or break off easily. Keep the tree holder filled with water.
  • If the product is placed on a tree, the tree should be well-secured and stable.
  • Before using or reusing, inspect the product carefully. Discard any products that have cut, damaged, or frayed wire insulation or cords, cracks in the lamp holders or enclosures, loose connections, or exposed copper wire.
  • When storing the product, carefully remove the product from wherever it is placed, including tree branches, or bushes, to avoid any undue strain or stress on the product conductors, connections, and wires.
  • When not in use, store neatly in a cool, dry location protected from sunlight.

User Servicing Instructions

Fuse replacement:
Most often, fuses blow because too many sets have been strung end-to-end.

  • Before changing fuses, make sure the set is unplugged.
  • Grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle or other. outlet devise. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.
  • Using a flathead screwdriver, open the fuse cover. Slide open the fuse access cover on top of the attachment plug towards the blades.
  • Removes fuses carefully.
  • Risk of fire. Replace fuse only with 3 Amp, 125 Volt fuse (provided with product).
  • Close fuse cover. Slide closed the fuse access cover on top of the current tap. Make sure the door is fully closed and the fuses are completely covered.
  • Risk of fire. Do not replace the current tap. Contains a safety device (fuse) that should not be removed. Discard the product if the current tap is damaged.

Bulb replacement:
Before changing bulbs, make sure the set is unplugged.

  • *  **Step 1:** Grasp the plug and remove it from the receptacle or other outlet device. Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.
    • Step 2: Hold the bulb by the plastic base and pull the bulb/base straight out of the socket.
    • Step 3: Replace the lamp with only a 2.5 Volt, 0.425 Watt super brightness midget push-in type lamp provided with the product.
      Push the spare bulb/base assembly into the socket Do not twist the bulb when inserting it into the socket.

If bulbs are twisted, part of the set will not light. If the spare bulbs provided with the product have no plastic base or the plastic base does not fit, first follow steps 1 – 2 above.

  • Remove the old bulb by straightening the bulb wires and pulling the bulb straight from the base.
  • Replace the new bulb by straightening the bulb leads and aiming each wire into a separate hole in the plastic base.
  • Make sure each bulb lead comes out an exit opening at the bottom of the plastic base. Now bend each lead up such that each bulb lead fits closely against the narrow side of the plastic base.

CAUTION

  1. This lighting string is rated 40.8 Watts (0.34 Amps), and does not overload. Connect other lighting strings or decorative outfits end-to-end up to a maximum of 216 Watts (1.8 Amps) total. If connecting to a lighting string that does not have a Wattage (W) rating {found on the tag within 6 inches of the plug} calculate the wattage as follows: Multiply the current (0.34A) which is on the flag-type tag by 120. For example, The lighting string is rated 120 V, 60 Hz, 0.34 Amps. 0.34 X 120 = 40.8 Watts
    Add the wattage of each light string together for a total of 216 Watts or less. (Do not exceed 216 Watts.)

  2. To reduce the risk of overheating, replace burned-out lamps promptly. Use 2.5 Volt, 0.425 Watt lamps only.

  3. To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock: a) Do not install on trees needles, leaves, or branch coverings of metal or materials which look like metal, and b) Do not mount or support strings in a manner that can cut or damage wire insulation.

This product was pre-tested before shipment and date coded. In keeping with the National Electrical Code, this product is intended for residential seasonal installation and use (90 days max. per year). Nicolas Holiday Ltd.’s 1-year Limited Guarantee covers repair or replacement (same or equivalent) of this product within one (1) year from the date of purchase. Troubleshooting tips are on your use and care guide included in this box. If troubleshooting is unsuccessful, send your product prepaid along with a legible copy of your sales receipt to St. Nick’s Fix, 246 Spring Hill Road, Trumbull, CT 06611, Attention: Customer Service. EXCLUSIONS

This product is guaranteed only if it is used as intended. All accessories that may be packed with this product, such as clips and stakes, are guaranteed for the first season only. This Limited Guarantee does not cover: 1) commercial applications, 2) burned-out bulbs/LEDs, 3) misuse or tampering, 4) batteries, 5) damage caused by improper consumer handling, or 6) components that may weather, age or discolor due to a chemical reaction when exposed to UV, oils, heat, acid rain, atmospheric oxygen, and some salts.

ANY IMPLIED GUARANTEES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED GUARANTEES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED GUARANTEE. OTHERWISE, THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS LIMITED GUARANTEE EE, IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE CONSUMER AND IS PROVIDED IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER GUARANTEES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IN NO EVENT SHALL NICOLAS HOLIDAY, LTD. BE LIABLE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT OR TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) FOR DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT, OR FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THE PRODUCT TO THE FULL EXTENT THESE DAMAGES MAY BE DISCLAIMED BY LAW.
