Optional

If you are using SwitchBot to control a wall switch and would like to push and pull the switch with just one Bot, stick the add-on to your switch near the SwitchBot arm. Frequently Asked Questions

Could you please explain when I should buy the hub instead of just the switch?****

You don’t need need the SwitchBot Hub if all you want to do is use your phone to control a rocker switch or a button (using a free app and Bluetooth) or set timers inside.

Can I manage it with Google Home or Amazon Echo?****

Yes. I use Amazon Echo with all of my SwitchBots. Although I don’t have Google Home, the documentation says it will also function with Google Home. But in order to utilise with either Google or Amazon, you do need to buy a SwitchBot Hub.

How would it operate a wall switch?****

It can push and pull on a switch thanks to an adhesive attachment. But unless the switch is VERY simple to turn on and off, it won’t function. inadequate motor

How can you prevent it from pressing so forcefully that it pops off?****

It can be literally shimmied farther away from the wall so that it won’t suddenly pop off. I spent too much time overanalyzing the situation and trying to come up with the perfect solution for a shim before deciding to use some Gorilla Heavy Duty Mounting tape. In addition to the mounting tape that is already on the bot, I added three additional layers of it. It performed flawlessly and has since stopped attempting to detach itself whenever I use the bot.

Does each item I want to control require its own unit?****

Okay, sure. But despite the price being a little high, I think mine is well worth it.

How can I take the switchbox out of its current location so that I may change its battery? It is firmly affixed to the 3M stripe.****

By sticking the bot in the wrong place, we’ve already put that idea to the test. We used an Exacto blade to remove the sticky pad, cleaned off the area, and then reapplied using one of the spare pads. It works well, however when we have to do it again in three years and our Swithbot is 15 feet up on a ledge, this will be a problem for us. However, we have been utilising 3 Switchbot units without a problem for the past 6 months.

Can this hold down a button for a short period of time. Using an intercom door buzzer as an example.****

SwitchBot does indeed have a long-press mode. The hold time can be customized in the app. The maximum hold period is sixty seconds.

Can this be set to push once every two hours for 12 hours, for example?****

Timer can be set I don’t know how many timers you can set, but I did. Each timer is set to do on or off, and it appears that you can only set them by the hour or day of the week. So, yes, you can configure it to turn off after two hours, then turn back on, and so forth.

Is there a timer on it?****

Yes. The Timers in SwitchBot are built-in. The free SwitchBot app lets you configure up to 5 timers.

Pushing the position button on a hospital bed can be useful. Possibly a long push?****

Yes, provided that the glue has good holding power. I set our button to remain depressed for 60 seconds. The most is that.

Does this function to turn on and off with a standard wall light switch (not the broad rocker kind)? One is not seen in the image.****

Although I haven’t tried it, the instruction booklet demonstrates how it can be done. It comes with a few sticky pads that are meant to be adhered to the switch lever. Each sticky pad has a short plastic cable that connects to the SwitchBot and enables it to pull as well as push.
