I have a Levoit Ezra on my end table next to my couch where I spend my evenings. I have a very acute sense of smell. With that being said I have never smelt any unpleasant aroma near it. In fact, just the opposite the air has a fresh crispness about it. I have mine plugged directly into the wall socket. If you are using an extension cord that could be the culprit. Mine is turned on high 24/7.

What kind of metal is it? I know it says rust free.
I’m not sure if you’re asking exact makeup of the metal, but it’s just a regular type metal, good quality & brown in color. Extremely good quality Lamp & heavy. I am very pleased with my purchase & intend to purchase another as a Christmas gift for my daughter who feel in love with it when she saw it.
Did you take the plastic that lines the housing box out (not the bag that the rocks are in)?
I did remove the stiff plastic liner from within the housing box. I have not had any problem with salt debris out or around the housing box. I do leave my lamp on 24/7, and keep it out of any direct drafts. I can’t imagine it would be near as beautiful with the plastic blocking the natural view of the light emanating through the salt crystals. Let your inhibitions down, take the plastic out, and enjoy!
It says the size is 8.2 x 14.5 x 7.8 inches. looking at the pictures it looks taller not wider. is the height really 7.8 inches and width 14.5? if not what is the actual height.

Does this sweat?
A true salt lamp is prone to some sweating when exposed to moisture. So DO NOT place your salt lamp near any electrical appliance/humidifier or in a room where is humid.
Should the bulb be covered?
The bulb is in its little tube that the bulb screws into, and it does have a firm clear cover that slides over the bulb its self.
The plastic part around the bulb looks like it burned from the light. Is this normal? Where can I buy a replacement?
I think it would be Walmart because the bulb is a small night light bulb
I cannot get the cover off the bulb to change it. Please help!
It may need to twist it a little harder hard counterclockwise for it is brand new and locked tight to protect the lamp. Here is a user manual packaged in with details. Please kindly read it thoroughly.
Does the salt in this style lamp heat up as much as the Kyra style lamps?
I’m not familiar with how hot the salt gets with the Kyra style lamps, but I’ve had my lamp on high since 10am today and they are warm but not hot to the touch.
does the salt need to be replaced intermittently?
I have had three salt lamps for several years. The salt does not need to be replaced. I highly recommend this one.
Will high humidity affect the salt? I want to have it near the steambath.
No idea but I do not think or it will take long time to affect and you can change the salt is low price
