THIS USER MANUAL
This user manual is an integral part of the appliance and must therefore be kept in its entirety and within the user’s reach for the whole working life of the appliance.
INTENDED USE

  • Use the appliance only indoors.

  • This appliance is intended for household use and similar applications such as:
    – in kitchen areas provided for personnel in shops, offices and other work environments
    – in bed and breakfast and farm accommodation
    – by guests in hotels, motels and other residential type environments.

  • Any other use, for example in restaurants, coffee bars and coffee shops is considered improper.

  • The appliance may be used to blend, chop, mix and emulsify various ingredients. Moreover, in combination with its accessories, it can mince/grind meat, cheese, bread, mash potatoes and other vegetables or whip and whisk eggs and cream for various preparations. Every other use is considered improper. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.

  • The appliance is not designed to operate with external timers or with remote-control systems. It must be continuously attended when in use.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Follow all safety instructions in order to be able to use the appliance safely.

  • Read this user manual carefully before using the appliance.
  • Unplug appliance immediately if it is left unattended and after use, in particular before cleaning, assembling or disassembling accessories or approaching parts that move in use.
  • Do not use the appliance when the power cord or the plug is damaged or when the appliance has been dropped or is damaged in any manner or faulty. Contact technical support immediately to arrange replacement or repair in order to avoid any hazards.
  • Ensure the cord does not come into contact with sharp edges.
  • Do not pull on the cord to unplug it from the power socket.
  • Do not use adapters or extension cords.
  • Do not modify the appliance.
  • Never try to put out a fire or flames with water: turn off the appliance and remove the plug from the socket and smother the flames with a fire blanket or other appropriate cover.
  • This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children and make sure children do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not let children play with the plastic bags in the packaging.
  • This appliance must not be used by people (including children) of reduced physical, sensory or mental capacity, or lacking in experience in the use of electrical appliances, unless they are supervised or instructed by adults who are responsible for their safety.
  • Do not touch moving parts while the appliance is operating. Keep hands, hair and clothing, and utensils away from moving parts during operation, to prevent personal injury and/or damage to the appliance.
  • Avoid touching the blades of the blender attachment as they are very sharp: Danger of cuts! Handle very carefully when removing, inserting or cleaning. Use a spatula if you need to remove food.
  • Do not blend hot oil or fat.
  • Be careful if hot liquid is poured onto the hand blender as it can be ejected out of the appliance due to a sudden steaming.
  • Use tall containers when mixing liquids, particularly if hot, to reduce spillages, splattering and burn injuries.
  • To avoid splashing always insert the blender attachment in the food before switching the hand blender on.
  • Do not leave the hand blender in a hot pot on a lit stove while not in use.
  • Avoid using the blender attachment and chopper attachment to chop fruit pits, bones or other hard food as doing this can damage the blades.
  • Make sure that the level of liquids is always below the shaft joint.
  • Do not use the hand blender with parts or accessories of other manufacturers.
  • Only use original spare parts. The use of spare parts not approved by the manufacturer could lead to fires, electric shocks or personal injury.
  • Avoid spraying liquid on the motor body and cable of the hand blender or getting them wet. In the event of contact with liquid, immediately unplug the hand blender and dry it thoroughly: Electric shock hazard!
  • Let the hand blender cool down before cleaning.

MANUFACTURER LIABILITY

The manufacturer shall not be liable for injuries or property damage caused by:

  • Use of the appliance other than as envisaged
  • Not having read the user manual
  • Tampering with any part of the appliance
  • Use of non-original spare parts
  • Failure to observe the safety instructions

DISPOSAL

This appliance must be disposed of separately from other refuse (Directive 2012/19/EU). The appliance does not contain substances in quantities sufficient to be considered hazardous to health and the environment, in accordance with current European directives.
Our appliances are packed in non-polluting and recyclable materials.
Dispose of the packing materials at an appropriate disposal facility.
USE
The hand blender is intended for: blending fluids, mixing soft ingredients, pureeing cooked ingredients. Continuous operation time should not exceed 30 seconds.
The appliance can be used with all accessories at any speed settings. SMEG accessories (including chopper, vegetable masher, whisk and beaker) can be purchased separately (HBAC01).
BEFORE FIRST USE
Thoroughly clean the parts that will come into contact with food before using the appliance for the first time.
PREPARING FOR USE
Cut large ingredients into pieces of approximately 2 cm before processing them.
Assemble the appliance properly before plugging it into the wall socket.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Twist and lock the blender arm (5) to the motor unit (4). Immerse blades dome completely in the ingredients.
Switch the appliance on by pressing ON/OFF or turbo button (1-2): adjust the speed by rotating the speed selector (3).
Blend the ingredients by moving the appliance slowly up and down.
RECIPE:
PANCAKE TOPPING
This recipe can be prepared with the chopper that can be ordered as a separate accessory.
INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 egg;
  • 120 g icing sugar;
  • 220 g maltose.

METHOD:

  1. Using the chopper accessory, first insert the chopping blade into the chopping bowl, then put all the ingredients into the bowl.
  2. Close the chopper with the lid and attach the motor unit. Blend the ingredients for 5 seconds on the TURBO setting.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • Unplug the hand blender before cleaning it.
  • Do not immerse the motor base in water or other liquids.
  • Clean the motor body with a damp cloth and mild detergents exclusively. The chopper bowl and blade unit, the nonslip base, stainless steel whisk and the BPA-free beaker with lid can be washed in a dishwasher. Masher, the chopper lid and the whisk holder must be cleaned with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use cleaning products containing chlorine, ammonia or bleach on parts with metallic finishes (e.g. anodised, nickel- or chrome-plated).
