User Manual

Laser safety

Be sure to read and understand all instructions in this manual before using the product. All labels on your laser are for your safety and must not be removed. Removing labels increases the risk of exposure to laser radiation. Do not throw this manual away.

According to the model your instrument has the corresponding warning label.
Always make sure that any bystanders in the vincinity of use are made aware of the dangers of looking directly into the laser. Do not stare directly at the laser beam or project it into the eyes of others, especially with optical instruments. Serious eye injury could result. Do not point the beam to persons or animals. Your instrument emits laser radiation according to laser class 2 (EN 60825-1:2014).
Be especially careful when working with a green beam rotary laser. The instruments must only be used by persons who are familiar with laser technique. The user must know the effect of the laser on skin and eye, correct laser protection and the corresponding national safety laws. Please comply with the rules of the federal authority for radiation protection or the laws in your country.
Do not use your laser glasses as laser protection, but only for improving the laser visibility. The laser glasses do not provide protection against laser radiation.
Do not use your laser glasses as sun glasses. Do not use it in traffic.
The laser glasses do not provide UV protection and decrease the color perception.
Repairs and maintenance services are only to be performed by qualified staff using original replacement parts.
Children are not allowed to use the product without adults watching them to ensure safety.
Do not use the instrument in the near of flammable materials. Sparks can be created inside the tool.
Do not direct the laser beam towards windows, mirrors or similar surfaces.
The reflection of the beam can damageyour eyes.

Safety notes for chargers
Please read and respect all instructions for the safe operation of the charger to avoid electric shocks, injuries and fire.
Keep the charger away from rain or moisture. If not, it can cause electric shocks.
Do not charge other batteries with this charger. The charger must only be used for charging the Li-Ion battery in the scope of delivery. Do not charge alkaline batteries.
Keep the contacts and the charger clean.
Before using the charger, please make sure that the cables and plugs are not damaged. If they are, please give the defectuous parts to a qualified service center using original replacement parts.
Do not put the charger on paper or other flammable materials. The heat of the charger can cause fire.
Under abusive conditions liquids can leave the batteries. Avoid contact.
If you are in contact with the liquid, clean with water. If the liquid is in contact with your eyes, seek medical attention. The batteries must not be opened and must be protected from permanent sun.
Children must not play with the charger, even not under supervision.

Safety notes for laser detectors
For detectors, the same safety notes as for the instrument itself apply.
The sound presure can be dangerous for your ear. Do not hold the detector close to your ear. Use ear protection!
Remove the batteries from the detector if you do not use it for a longer time. This avoid corrosion.
Repairs and maintenance services are only to be performed by qualified staff using original replacement parts.
Avoid working in flammable environment, e.g. liquids, gas, dust etc.
The detector can contain magnets. Do not use the detector close to a pacemaker because its functions can be disturbed by the magnetic fields.
Do not place the detector and its mount close to magnetic data carrieres or instruments reacting to magnetic fields. This can result in data deletion or corruption.

Intended use

Intended use: The PNRLR/G-1/2/3D is intended to determine and check horizontal and vertical lines and 90° angles. The device can be operated remotely.
The laser detector is intended to localize laser beam sent out in pulse mode.

Scope of delivery

The laser series PNRLR/G has the following scope of delivery:

The laser can be operated with Alkaline batteries or rechargeable Li-Ion battery.

  1. Open the battery compartment by pressing on the clip saying „open“ on the bottom side of the laser. Open the lid.
  2. Remove the discharged battery insert a new one. Pay attention to the correct polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment (clip).

Alkaline batteries: use four C batteries and insert them in the battery compartment. Pay attention to the battery symbols. Do not short-circuit the batteries. Do not load non-rechargeable batteries. This can result in fire hazard.
Usage of rechargeable Li-Ion batteries:
Please pay attention to the safety notes for batteries and chargers.

  1. Before the first usage, the Li-Ion battery needs to be charged for several hours.
  2. Put the charger cable in the charger plug of the instrument.
  3. Put the other end of the charger cable in the power plug (110 or 220V).
  4. The rechargeable battery and the charger can be damaged if they fall down. Please store both items at a dry location.

If the battery is fully charged, the battery LED is green. If the battery is nearly discharged, the battery LED is red. In this case, recharge the battery. During the charging process, the LED close to the battery compartment is red.
Remove the battery from the unit if you do not use it for a longer time period. There is risk of corrosion and discharge. If the operating time is low despite of fully charged batteries, the battery pack must be replaced. Please contact your dealer. If you did not purchase the instrument from a dealer, please contact proNIVO Messgeräte Handels GmbH.

Usage

As the instrument is sensitive, please avoid the following:

  • Drops and shocks
  • Wet environment
  • Direct sunlight
  • Extreme temperatures and temperature differences: do not leave the instrument in a car for a longer time. Allow the instrument to adjust to the environment temperature before putting it into operation. The precision can decrease under these circumstances.

Notes:

  • Before using the instrument, please verify the accuracy as explained in the chapter „Accuracy check“.
  • Please pay attention to switching the instrument off when it is not in use.

Preparation:
Horizontal: Place the instrument on an even surface or on a tripod.

Transport and Cleaning
During transportation and storage the unit should be in its case or bag.
Please clean especially the surfaces at the exit opening of the laser. Avoid fluff of fibres. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. Use a moist, soft cloth. Do not put the instrument under water or other liquids. Verification of the horizontal accuracy

  1. Position the instrument on a tripod about 30 m from a wall. Switch the instrument on and allow it to level. Mark the height of the laserline on the wall (H1).
  2. Loosen the tripod screw and turn the instruments by 180°. Allow it to self-level again. Mark the height of the laser beam on the wall (H2).
  3. Measure the distance between your markings H1 and H2. If it is 5 mm or less, the horizontal accuracy is within tolerance. If the distance exceeds 5 mm, the instruments needs to be sent to an authorized service center.

Verification of the vertical accuracy

  1. Position the instrument about 5 m from a wall.
  2. Fasten a plumb bob of minimum 2 m to the wall.
  3. Activate one vertical line.
  4. Align the vertical line to the plumb bob line.
  5. Measure the difference. The distance should not exceed half of the specificed accuracy.
  6. If applicable, repeat the test for the second vertical line.

proNIVO Rotary Laser PNRLR G 1D 2D 3D - Figure 8

Verification of the accuracy of the 90° vertical lines

  1. Place the instrument in a corner of a room with the side lenghts of about 3.2 m and 4.2 m. Activate all vertical lines.
  2. Measure exactly 4 m from the plumb point of the instrument in direction of the vertical laser line and mark this point A on the floor.
  3. Measure exactly 3 m from the plumb point of the instruments in direction of the second vertical laser line and mark this point B on the floor.
  4. Measure the distance C between A and B. It should be 5 m. The expected accuracy is 0.8 mm.
