Specific safety guidelines
- To guarantee proper operation of the pump, use only VIRAX chemicals (product range 2950XX)
- Noncompliance with safety instructions and warnings in this manual and on the labels can cause a danger to persons and the environment.
- Virax may not be held liable for any damage caused by improper use of the descaling pump and associated chemicals.
CAUTION
- Never pull the pump by the supply cable or hoses.
- Do not use the pump if the supply cable and hoses are faulty.
- When using an extension, the power plug and socket must be waterproof.
- Read carefully the Safety Data Sheet of the scale solvent, apply any safety measures specified, and wear the individual protection devices planned.
- Using a scale solvent incompatible with the materials in the unit may damage it.
Start-up
Connection the pump
- Cut the water supply and bleed the unit to be descaled.
- Check visually for damage on connections and hoses, and change them if required (see nomenclature)
- Connect the pump to be descaled directly to the boiler’s heating unit (or exchanger). Direct connection to the heating unit avoids damaging gaskets on the inlets and outlets of the boiler.
- Fill the pump’s water tank with a quantity of water sufficient to maintain the pump casing immersed during operation
CAUTION
Check that the level of liquid doesn’t exceed 5 cm under the tank cap; an
excessive level of liquid would damage the motor.
- Connect the power supply cable to a single-phase 230V power outlet.
- Switch on the pump by pressing the switch, and check the proper behavior of the connections
- Stop the pump.
Descaling operation
- Choose the appropriate Virax descaler and dilute it in water as indicated on the descaler bottle.
- Start the pump
- During operation, maintain the tank cap open to evacuate any gas forming during descaling.
CAUTION
The temperature of the descaling product must never exceed 50°C.
During descaling, check that the height of the foam forming inside the tank
does not exceed the maximum filling level.
-
Actuate the flow reverser several times to attack the cap in both directions.
-
If the water+descaler solution loses its initial color during the descaling operation, add the descaler immediately to the tank
-
The descaling operation is complete when:
-
the flow of the solution in the hoses at the inlet and outlet of the heating unit is identical and has no small bubbles at the outlet
AND -
the water+descaler solution keeps its initial color at the outlet
-
Stopping the operation
- Stop the motor and disconnect the pump
- Slightly loosen the connection at the pump outlet to let the air enter the circuit and the product flow into the pump tank.
CAUTION
During this operation, beware of any acids that may remain inside the circuit,
and which are likely to drip and damage the floor.
- When the liquid has bled from the hoses, disconnect the 2 hoses.
- To neutralize the descaling solution, pour the appropriate Virax neutralizer into the tank, and dilute according to the indications mentioned on the neutralizer bottle.
- Empty the tank.
Rinsing the unit
- In the descaler pump tank which is now empty, dilute the Virax neutralizer with water (according to the indications mentioned on the neutralizer bottle).
- Connect the hoses to the heating unit as previously
- Start the pump and run this solution for a few minutes.
- Prime the unit and rinse with clean water (20 to 30 liters of water) to eliminate any product residue.
CAUTION
The tank must be empty at all times and cleaned to prevent damage to the
motor.
