HEADSET AND NOISE ATTENUATING HEARING PROTECTOR
This hearing protector allows communication and music streaming via
Bluetooth®. The headset features wireless communication and music streaming
via units that are compatible with Bluetooth® and A2DP.
Warning
This hearing protector is intended to protect the wearer from hazardous noise
levels when fitted in accordance with this user instruction. Any other uses
are not intended and therefore not allowed. It is important that the
instructions for use are followed.
Failure to do so could result in a drastic reduction in the noise attenuation
and may lead to serious injury.
Carefully read these user instructions
- The hearing protector must be used at all times in noisy environments to provide full protection effect! Only 100% wear time provides full protection.
- The audibility of warning signals at a specific workplace may be impaired if over protected, when using a hearing protector with too high noise attenuation performance in relation to the noise environment.
- When using hearing protection with entertainment audio features, remember to adjust the volume when working in noisy environments so that any warning signals etc. can be heard.
- For some individuals, excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones may cause hearing loss.
- This hearing protector features level-limiting of audio signals from the speakers to maximum 82 dB(A) at the ear.
- Do not use this product in a potentially explosive atmosphere.
- It is recommended that any machinery is switched off, and/or that you walk away from the noisy area when answering a phone call from the headset.
- Certain chemical substances can have a destructive effect on this product. More information is available from the manufacturer.
- Ensure that the hearing protectors are regularly inspected for serviceability.
- The hearing protector’s noise attenuating properties can dramatically decrease with usage of for example thick eyeglass frames, ski masks/balaclavas, etc.
- Use of perspiration/hygienic protection over the sealing rings can reduce the hearing protector’s noise attenuation properties.
- Earmuffs, and in particular cushions, may deteriorate with use and should be examined at frequent intervals for cracking and leakage.
- Immediately discard the product if showing signs of cracks or damage.
- Hygiene kit should be changed at least twice per year. Make sure you choose the correct hygiene kit for your hearing protector.
- Clean the product with mild soap. You must be sure that the detergent you use does not irritate the skin. Do not dip the product in water.
- The hearing protector must be stored in a dry and clean environment out of direct sun light, e.g. in its original packaging
Fitting & adjustment
Brush away all hair from the ears and place the hearing protectors over the
ears so that they fit comfortably and snugly. Ensure that the ears are
completely enclosed by the hearing protectors and that you have even pressure
around the ears.
Headband Adjust the headband size so that it rests lightly against the crown
of your head.
Helmet/Cap mount Push the hearing protectors helmet attachment into the helmet
slot until it locks into position. Place the hearing protectors over the ears
and press inwards until you hear a click. Adjust the hearing protectors and
helmet so that they fit comfortably.
USER INSTRUCTION FOR BLUETOOTH® FUNCTIONS
Charge the headset prior to first use!
Depending on phone model and application, some functions may not be supported
or may have to be operated on the phone.
The first time you use the headset you need to establish a wireless link,
“pairing”, for communication between the units. Pairing is only needed once
for each pair of units. The headsets can store up to 8 different units in its
memory.
- Press and hold down the On/Off button. An audio signal confirms the headset is switched on and the LED light flashes blue.
- Keep holding down the On/Off button to enter pairing mode. An audio signal confirms pairing mode and the LED light flashes red/blue. Release the On/Off button.
- Activate Bluetooth® on your phone (or other unit) and select “Zekler Sonic” in the list. (See the user instruction for your phone). If the phone requires a PIN code, enter four zeros (0000).
- An audio signal with 2 tones is heard in the headset when the pairing is completed. The headset LED flashes blue. If pairing fails, switch off the headset and restart again from step 1.
To switch off the headset, press and hold down the On/Off button for 4
seconds. An audio signal confirms the headset is switched off. The pairing
link is automatically established with the phone next time the headset is
switched on.
Music streaming from a Bluetooth® unit
- Switch on the headset (see earlier steps).
- Start the music player on the phone (or other unit).
- Play/Pause by pressing short on the On/Off button.
- Adjust the volume by pressing the volume buttons UP/DOWN (A:9, A:7).
- Change to next track by pressing and holding down the Volume UP button for 2 seconds.
- Play the song from the beginning by pressing and holding down the Volume DOWN button for 2 seconds.
- Change to previous track by pressing and holding down the Volume DOWN button for 4 seconds.
Answer/End/Reject call
Most phones send their own call signal to the headset. If not, 7 shifting
tones confirm an incoming call. The volume of the call signal is controlled by
the volume of the headset.
- Answer a call by pressing short on the On/Off button. 4 ascending tones confirm the call is connected
- End a call by pressing short on the On/Off button. 4 descending tones confirm the call is disconnected.
- To reject a call, press and hold down the On/Off button for 2 seconds. 2 tones will confirm.
Voice dial from headset via connected phone
See the user instruction for your phone if it supports voice dial.
- Press and hold the On/Off button for 3 seconds and release. An audio signal confirms the function is activated.
- Speak your voice dial command.
Most phones that support voice-controlled dialling will send an acknowledgment
signal when to speak your voice dial command.
Adjusting the volume during an ongoing call
- Increase the volume by pressing the Volume UP button (A:9)
- Decrease the volume by pressing the Volume DOWN button (A:7)
Broken Bluetooth® link
If the Bluetooth® link is broken due to exceeded range (more than 10 meters) 3
tones will be heard in the headset and the On/Off button must be pressed once
to re-establish the link, when within range. If no link has been established
within 15 minutes, the headset will automatically switch off. Press and hold
the On/Off button for 3 seconds to restart the headset.
Low battery warning
When the battery power is decreasing and approximately one hour remains of
maximum run time, an audio signal of 4 tones will be heard in the headset. The
battery should then be charged as soon as possible. The headset will turn off
when the battery is drained.
Charging the battery
Charge the headset prior to first use!
For safety reasons, all headset functions are automatically switched off when
charging. The headset will charge when connected to a USB power supply. Use
the USB charge cable supplied with the headset (B:2). Check that the charge
cable is correctly connected to the headset charging socket (A:11) and a USB
power supply. Make sure the power supply is of LPS type (i.e. a USB port in a
PC or car, or your mobile phone USB charge adapter) and approved to local
directives for electronic devices.
Power supply specifications: Output DC 5V 1000mA (Limited Power Source –
LPS).
When charging, the headset LED will glow with solid bright green light. When
the battery is fully charged the LED changes from bright green light to soft
green light. A full charge will take approximately 3 hours. The battery run
time is approximately 55 hours with an active Bluetooth® link. (A2DP and/or
HFP, HSP). The stand-by time is approximately 100 hours with no active
Bluetooth® link.
Important!
- Never leave the headset unattended when charging.
- Do not use the headset when the battery is charging.
- Only use a power supply as specified by the manufacturer.
- Only charge the headset in room temperature (10-25°C, 50-77°F).
- This product contains a built-in Li-ion battery and it may only be replaced by authorized service personnel.
- Do not attempt to open the battery compartment in any way, and do not disassemble, crush, or expose the battery to extreme heat or fire.
- Operation temperature range for the electronic functions: -20°C (-4°F) to +55°C (+131°F).
- If these instructions are followed the product is unlikely to present any hazards within the means of EN 60950-1.

Information required by E.P.A. (US)
The level of noise entering a person’s ear, when hearing protector is worn as
directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A weighted
environmental noise level and the NRR.
Example:
- The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
- The NRR is 25 decibels (dB).
- The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 67 dB.
Caution
For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz the
C-weighted environmental noise level shall be used.
Warning
Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating
noise. Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against
the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the noise reduction rating (NRR) is
based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be accurate indicator
of the protection attainable against impulsive noise such as gunfire.
