CONTROL FREAK UBi V2 Test and Power
The UBi Test and Power is a patented Australian invention and is a DALI connect/disconnect, test and distribution device. The Ubi provides distribution of DALI via 5 parallel DALI connections which may be individually connected and disconnected as required, for example during commissioning. The UBi also provides a visual warning of unsafe voltages e.g. 240VAC mains voltage. The 4mm banana sockets provide a quick, easy, and safer means of connecting to a DALI line. A test button on the keypad provides an easy Min/Max DALI output that is used to test DALI communication.
Please note that the UBi Test Functionality is disabled by default and will return to disabled on the power cycle. To enable, long press the test button for 4 seconds. Please see the functionality below.
Functionality
The UBi has a test button on the front which allows for a 10-minute Min/Max test. The device will send out DALI Broadcast RECALL MAX and RECALL MIN until the timer has expired, or the button has been pressed a second time. A mimic LED on the device will also flash at the same rate. The test functionality can be enabled by holding in the test button for 4 seconds. To exit this mode, hold the test button in for another 4 seconds, or power cycle the device. Pressing the test button during disable mode will quickly double flash the LED but will not send out DALI. The default operation is test functionality disabled.
Physical
The case is made from UL94V0 flammability-rated material and suits standard
DIN rail mounting. The UBi is 37mm (w) x 110mm (h) x 63mm (d).
DALI Line Power Supply
The UBi comes in two versions: Powered, and non-powered. The UBi Power
provides DALI power of 20.5V and 245mA. Both versions require 24Vdc in.
Warnings
- DO NOT connect to any DALI line when the overvoltage indicator is lit.
- DO NOT rely on the indicator – always check the voltage on the line by using of suitable test tools, such as a Fluke meter and Control Freak ADDICT, with mains-rated leads and connectors, such as the Control Freak 600VAC Universal Lead set, via the 4mm banana sockets provided on the front of the Ubi.
- ALWAYS treat DALI as having mains voltage potential. Even though DALI operates on SELV DC, it can accidentally have mains voltages present.
Compliance
The Ubi is safety certified and immune to mains voltages.

Wiring
It is recommended for convenience that you terminate the DALI cabling from the
DALI controller into one of the 2-way DALI terminals and separately terminates
the DALI cabling out to the DALI devices using one or more of the remaining
2-way terminals. Each 2-way DA terminal has a positive and a negative and
these are in parallel with the other 2- way terminals.
Note that DALI does have polarity, however, is not polarity-sensitive.

Warranty
Congratulations on acquiring this genuine Control Freak® product (“the goods”) which is guaranteed to the purchaser for a period of 24 months from the date of original purchase from Creative Lighting and its authorized agents and resellers. Under normal use and for applications for which this product was designed, this Control Freak® product and all component electronics are warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship. In the unlikely event that the goods prove to be defective, Creative Lighting will decide either to repair or replace the defective components. Before that can happen, the goods must first be returned to Creative Lighting at the purchaser’s cost. This Guarantee specifically excludes faults that arise as a result of alteration, tampering, misuse, abuse, accident, vandalism, negligence, improper installation, or the use of other manufacturer’s products in combination with the goods except where such use of other manufacturers’ goods is authorized by us. All other warranties inclusive of any warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose whether expressed or implied are hereby expressly negatived to the fullest extent permissible by law. Under no circumstances will Creative Lighting be liable for the reinstallation of the goods. In no event shall the manufacturer be liable for consequential damages. This Guarantee constitutes the sole and exclusive remedy to the purchaser for proven defects. Under no circumstances will Creative Lighting be liable for the costs of freight except in the case of freight within Australia as set out below. Australia only: If we determine that the goods are defective, we will not only repair or replace the defective components at no cost to the purchaser; we will also pay the cost to return them to the purchaser by our standard freight method, with any cost to reinstall the goods borne by the purchaser.
