  • Never operate the device if it is not completely closed.
  • Do not subject the equipment to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, extreme humidity or dampness
  • Do not operate the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers etc.)
  • Do not subject the equipment to shocks or strong vibrations
  • Keep hot soldering iron or guns away from the Equipment
  • Allow the equipment to stabilise at room temperature before taking up measurement (important for exact measurement)
  • Do not modify the equipment in any way
  • Opening the equipment and service- and repair work must only be performed by qualified service personnel.

Cleaning the cabinet
Clean only with a damp soft cloth and a commercially available mild household cleanser. Ensure that no water gets inside the equipment to prevent possible shorts and damage to the equipment.

Introduction

The P 5315 is used to measure the pH of various liquids. The removable pH probe makes it possible, after the respective measurement, to thoroughly rid the device and the probe of residues of the liquid to clean them. With the adjustment screws next to the on / off switch, you are able to calibrate the pH meter with buffer liquids (a screwdriver is included in the delivery). To protect the measuring electrode, a protective cap is attached to the end of the P 5315 (this is removed during the measurement).

  • Illuminated display
  • Adjustment screws for calibration
  • Measuring probe which can be screwed off
  • Electrode protective cap
  • Easy on / off by dip – switch.

Controls

Operation

The pH meter is used to detect pH values of different liquids. By the display, which has a backlight, and the intuitive handling of the device, it is easy to determine the desired pH values.

PH measurement

Note: Before using the device for the first time, perform the calibration of the device (point 4.2). Make sure that the probe has to be soaked in distilled water for approx. 5 – 20 minutes if it is not used for a long time.

To perform the pH measurement, the protective cap that protects the electrode of the probe, must be removed. Then the device must be switched on with the on / off switch. The backlight is permanently on during operation to highlight the measured value. If the pH meter has not been used for a longer period of time or if it has been used in environments where external influences can be greater, it is advisable to calibrate the instrument (see point 4.2). Clean the probe with distilled water before measuring to avoid possible falsifications of the measured value. Carefully dry the probe with a cloth. Now the probe of the pH meter can be immersed in the liquid to be measured. Make sure that only the bottom 4 cm of the probe are submerged in the liquid. When the measurement is complete, remove the pH meter from the liquid and rinse the probe again with distilled water. If no further measurements are to be made, re-insert the protective cap of the electrode onto the end of the probe.

Calibration of the pH meter
Calibrating the pH meter is recommended when accurate readings are needed, the instrument has not been used for a long time, or when the instrument has been used for a long period of time.

To calibrate the instrument, two buffer solutions are needed, which have a pH of 4.01 and 7.01 at room temperature. To calibrate the respective areas, remove the protective cap from the probe, place the appropriate buffer solution for the desired area to be calibrated in a container, and immerse the bottom 4 cm of the probe in the buffer solution. Now move the pH meter carefully and slowly in the solution for a few seconds. After a short time, the device settles down to a measured value. When this is done, the value can be set to exactly 4.01 or 7.01 with the calibration screws (depending on the buffer solution used). After the calibration is done, clean the probe with distilled water and dry the probe with a cloth.

Notification about the Battery Regulation
The delivery of many devices includes batteries, which for example serve to operate the remote control. There also could be batteries or accumulators built into the device itself. In connection with the sale of these batteries or accumulators, we are obliged under the Battery Regulations to notify our customers of the following: Please dispose of old batteries at a council collection point or return them to a local shop at no cost. The disposal in domestic refuse is strictly forbidden according to the Battery Regulations. You can return used batteries obtained from us at no charge at the address on the last side in this manual or by posting with sufficient stamps. Contaminated batteries shall be marked with a symbol consisting of a crossed- out refuse bin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg or Pb) of the heavy metal which is responsible for the classification as pollutant:

  1. Cd” means cadmium.
  2. “Hg” means mercury.
  3. “Pb” stands for lead.
