TRO-DONEX BLOOD BAGS CPDA-1
BLOOD BAGS FOR WHOLE HUMAN BLOOD
Anticoagulant solution CPDA (USP)
READ CAREFULLY
Directions for use:
- This blood bag is for single use only, discard after use.
- Do not use if the aluminium package shows signs of damage or is opened.
- The package should not get wet.
- Do not bend or fold the blood bag system before use.
Procedure for collection & storage:
- Open the alumium foil by tearing the nute, which is intended for this purpose. Take out a blood bag from the plastic cover and put it on a weighing scale at about 60 cm below the donor’s arm. Adjust the indicator to zero point.
Note: The weight and volume of the collection blood should correspond as follows:
Volume of blood: | Approximate weight: |
---|---|
250 ml | 265 g |
300 ml | 317 g |
350 ml | 370 g |
450 ml | 475 g |
- Apply a tourniquet in the upper arm of the donor to assist in locating the vein. Disinfect the phlebotomy site.
- Clamp the donor tubing and make a loose knot in the tubing at about 10 cm from the bag of tubing.
- Grip the needle holder and needle cover with both hands. Twist them in opposite directions to break the pinch- off portion before the twisting operation for an easy opening. After breaking the seal remove the needle cover.
- Collect blood by inserting the needle with bevel side seen up firmly into the vein. Remove the clamp, and blood flows through the hub. Immobilize the needle by putting a plaster over the tubing and sticking it to the arm.
- During the blood collection, occasionally, gently invert the bag to ensure good mixing of blood and anticoagulant solution. Never squeeze the bag since this may force air into the donor’s vein.
- Clamp the donor tubing or tighten the knot there by stopping the flow of blood after the bag is filled up to the desired weight/volume.
- The needle is withdrawn from the vein. The donor tubing is cut at the needle site. For laboratory test collect blood from the donor tubing into the test tube. Mark the blood bag with a serial number on the test tube to ensure proper identification.
- Throw away the used needle and tubing into the waste bin.
- The donor tubing filled with blood should be sealed after folding the tube with aluminium foil.
- Determine grouping and serology and enter the data in the relevant part of the blood bag label using a soft tip felt pen.
- Collected blood should be stored in refrigerated conditions at 1-6°C. With anticoagulant Citrate PhosphateDextrose-Adenine USP whole blood should be used in 35 days if stored in convenient conditions. During transportation the temperature may be 1-10°C.
General information
When placing the blood bags take care that the tubes are roled up well and pay
attention that the clamp is not placed between the blood bags in order to
