The Icom IC-9700 has the limitation of having only one PTT output for
operation with linear amplifiers. The nature of 144/432/1296 band, if you want
to add gain, it’s usually done with separate amplifiers for each band. This
then presents the problem of how to command these amplifiers individually in
the tx of the band you want to operate on. Introducing the PTT multiplier :
The PTT multiplier provides THREE separate BAND SPECIFIC PTT amplifiers by
placing only the appropriate PTT link in the tx. It has an ESP8266 on-board
processor that communicates with the IC-9700 via CI-V and retrieves the band
data so it knows which TX band to PTT. Since it specifically monitors the
transmission frequency, it will handle cross-frequency and satellite
operations, selecting the correct output for the transmission band in use.The
device outputs are 3 jacks with an LED next to each telling you which band is
selected. The device is transparent and the PTT signal. It only directs it to
the selected band. The PTT multiplier requires the IC-9700 to be set to 9600
baud by default. CI-V transmission mode can be turned on or off according to
your needs. USB and CI-V Remote should not be “connected” in the 9700 settings
as this could cause potential software conflicts. After initial activation, it
is necessary to switch bands once!
