Maintenance Schedule

  • Shake White Ink Bottle : Shake the white ink bottle daily to prevent white ink from settling.
  • Nozzle Test: Perform a nozzle test before printing to ensure print quality. Blocked nozzles can cause banding or overspray. Continue printing if 90% of the nozzles are functioning.
  • Head Cleaning: Perform head cleaning when less than 90% of the nozzles are working. This is crucial for draining the capping station top and cleaning the print head surface. After cleaning, perform a nozzle check to ensure at least 90% of the nozzles are functioning.
  • Power Ink Flush: When you notice large missing nozzles or more than 50% of the nozzles are not working, use a syringe to draw 5 ml of ink from the ink sac and 10-20 ml from the waste ink tube, then perform a Power Ink Flush. Clean Around the Head: At the end of each day, clean any ink buildup around the print head. Ink buildup can transfer from the wiper to the print head, potentially causing damage. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.
  • Clean Wiper Blade: Similar to cleaning around the head, ensure the wiper blade is clean. This is important for a good nozzle check. Any residue can damage the print head and make head cleaning ineffective. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.
  • Clean Capping Station Cap Top: Keeping the capping station cap tops clean is crucial. Excessive ink buildup can make head cleaning ineffective and prevent proper ink draw. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.
  • Flush Capping Station Cap with Cleaning Solution: After daily maintenance, fill the cap with cleaning solution and press the clean button to flush it immediately. This ensures the print head sits correctly on the cap. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.
  • Check Ink Sac Regularly: Regularly check if the ink sac is broken or leaking. If so, replace it promptly to avoid ink leakage to the print head, which can cause it to burn out.
  • Empty Waste Tank: Regularly check the waste ink bottle. Overflowing waste ink can dirty the workspace. Ensure the waste ink lines do not touch the waste ink, as it can cause negative pressure, leading to ink backflow, which can damage the print head, motherboard, and other components.
  • Clean Pinch Rollers: Clean the pinch rollers to ensure consistent film pull. Film residue can cause roller slippage, leading to misalignment of the white and CMYK heads. Use a dry microfiber cloth or lint-free wipe to clean the rollers. Weekly, clean one side; when replacing the film, clean 360 degrees.
  • Clean Encoder Strip: Clean the encoder strip with isopropyl alcohol. Simply wipe both sides and check for dents or ink splashes.
  • Grease Carriage Rail: If you hear squeaky noises, it’s time to grease the rails. Use heat-resistant gel or paste-based grease. DO NOT USE A SPRAYER.

Notice and Tips

  • Do not move or touch the film while the printer is operating. This can cause a head strike.
  • Never leave any liquid on top of the printer cover. Even a small spill can damage the printer.
  • Do not expose the ink, film, and powder to direct sunlight or a humid environment. Avoid high humidity, high temperature, and direct sunlight. These conditions will deteriorate the quality of the film, powder, and ink and may cause issues. Use silica packs and store consumables in containers with lids.
  • At the end of the day, ensure the print head carriage is parked at the capping station (home position). If the print head is not properly seated on the cap, it can dry up and clog the system. If unsure, perform a head cleaning (from the printer) to move the print head back to the correct position.
  • Ensure the film is horizontal and centered on the printing platform. Otherwise, the film may crease, causing a head strike and damaging the printer.
  • Try to use the printer at least every 3-4 days. Use a moisturizer to protect the print head when not in use during holidays.
  • Not using the printer for more than two weeks can cause water-based ink to dry up, clogging the head. If there are no print jobs available, at least print a test strip to create a print job. Daily maintenance is still recommended.
  • Use the correct consumables. Using improper consumables or other branded films, ink, powder, cleaning solutions, swabs, etc., can damage the printer. Mixing different brands of consumables, such as ink, may cause blockage of the print head.
  • Refill the ink timely and do not let the ink level drop below one-third. Before adding new ink, shake the ink bottle several times to prevent settling. Properly seal and store the remaining ink in a well-ventilated environment, away from light.
  • Use original iColorPro print heads. Other low-cost, substandard print heads are often refurbished through aggressive cleaning processes and have short lifespans, potentially damaging the printer’s motherboard.
  • Do not use a syringe to manually flush the print head. If liquid contacts the print head cable, it may damage the print head and the motherboard.
  • If the printer is out of service for more than half an hour, perform a print head cleaning task before continuing to print to avoid ink breaks.
  • Do not use oversized syringes for ink extraction, as excessive suction can damage the print head.
  • Do not manually inject cleaning solution from the nozzle position of the print head with a syringe, as this may easily damage the print head and motherboard.
  • Do not modify the machine yourself. Modifying the machine automatically voids the iColorPro warranty and the machine will no longer be covered.
  • Follow the maintenance schedule. Not following maintenance can cause head clogs or serious printer damage.
