  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn OFF all controls before plugging or unplugging appliance.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Do not use appliance in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil-based paint, paint thinner, some moth-proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
  • Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.
  • Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
  • Do not use without filters in place.
  • Use only BISSELL® cleaning products intended for use with this appliance to prevent internal component damage. See the Cleaning Formula section of this guide.
  • Do not immerse. Use only on surfaces moistened by the cleaning process.
  • Keep appliance on a level surface.
  • Do not carry the appliance while in use.
  • Always install float before any wet pick-up operation.
  • Unplug before connecting TurboBrush® Tool.
  • Plastic film can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation, keep away from children.

WARNING
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS in a risk of electrical shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you aren’t sure if the outlet is properly grounded. DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug in the illustration. Make certain that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No plug adapter should be used with this appliance.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be connected to a grounded wiring system. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a safe path of least resistance for electrical current, reducing the risk of electrical shock. The cord for this appliance has an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. It must only be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Cleaning Formulas

Find more formulas at BISSELL.com.

Keep plenty of BISSELL® formulas on hand so you can clean whenever it fits your schedule. Always use genuine BISSELL formulas in your machine. Other formulas may harm the machine and void the warranty. Do not use Hard Floor Formula on area rugs or carpet.

Bissell Proheat Essential - Cleaning Formulas

WARNING

  • To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock due to internal component damage, use only BISSELL cleaning formula intended for use with this machine.
  • To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock when cleaning a hard floor, the BISSELL bare floor tool must be used and is only to be used with BISSELL Hard Floor Solutions formula intended for use with this appliance.

Filling the 2-in-1 Water Tank

Note : Fill with warm (140°F/60°C MAX) tap water and add the appropriate BISSELL® formula. Do not use boiling water. Do not heat water or tank in microwave.

  1. Use Tank Carry Handle to remove tank from the machine and bring it to the sink.
  2. Pull up on the bottom edge of the latch on the tank to remove the lid.
  3. Pull up on bladder fill cover that says “Fill Here”.
  4. Fill tank with warm (60°C/140°F MAX) tap water to the water fill line. Do not boil or microwave water as it can destroy the tank.
  5. Fill the provided measuring 6. Push down on bladder fill cup with formula to the fill line cover to close. and pour into the bladder.
  6. Replace the tank lid and latch. 8. Place tank into machine base and seat firmly into place.

  • Take care not to run over loose objects or edges of area rugs. Stalling the brush may result in premature belt failure.
  • Some Berber carpets have a tendency to fuzz with wear. Repeated strokes in the same area with an ordinary vacuum or deep cleaner may aggravate this condition.

Storing Your Machine

Keep machine in a protected, dry area, like a closet or basement. Because it uses water, this machine should not be kept where there’s a danger of freezing. Freezing will damage internal components and void the warranty.

Is the 3” stain tool extension included?

Yes

Do you have to use a cleaning solution/ soap with the cleaner? Would prefer to avoid any chemicals?

Yes. Just hot water will not clean

Do u sell tha tank for tha 1887 carpet cleaning?

This is question should be answer by Amazon or the manufacturer of this cleaner.

How tall is the water container?

It’s about 32 Oz.

How to dry the catpets?

Carpets dry fairly quickly (the water suction is pretty good), depending on air temperature and humidty. I suggest running ceiling fans and put furnace/AC fan on to run continuously

How do I go about using the warranty? I found a few broken plastic pieces

They come with a default warranty of 2 years and you simple contact them through Amazon and they respond you accordingly.

Why is the item nonreturnable as it says in the description?

It must be returned back to Brussels company not back to the store Bristol will cover the warranty

Does this cleaner work well on high pile or shag carpet?

Yes my carpet is shag and it works well. Pulls a lot of dirt up.

Does this do a good job of cleaning carpeted stairs?

Yeah have detachable hose for stairs

What is the brush cover part?

Doesn’t do well on upholstery

Yes it does. It comes with special attachments to clean the stairs.

Can you use inside a car?

Probably with the attachments (crevice tool, stair tool, upholstery tool) but the hose may not be long enough to do it effectively

How long does it take the carpet to dry after using this cleaner?

Dry times can vary greatly, depending on how much water is sprayed down, how many suction only passes are taken, and how humid it is. Your carpet may be dry in a couple hours or over night.

How much soap do you use?

You use the Bissell Carpet Cleaning Solution. 2.5 oz. Not soap.

How many amps and how big is tank?

This cleaner has a 6 amp motor and a 1 gallon water tank.

Can this be used on hand-knotted and/or machine made Persian rugs?

Yes it can.
