USER MANUAL

This manual contains important information on the installation, use and care of your product. Please take some time to read this manual to take full advantage of your product’s awesome benefits and features, and make sure that you know how to safely and efficiently operate the extensive functions of your new product.

Safety Information

To avert fire, electric shock and potentially dangerous situations, please leave servicing and installation to only qualified personnel.

Use only in cars with a 12-volt negative ground. Ensure the unit is grounded to a negative 12V DC power supply. Do not connect the unit to DC 24V.

If you connect the ignition wire (red) and the battery wire (yellow) to the car chassis (ground), you might cause a short circuit. which could potentially start a fire. Always connect those wires to the power source running through the fuse box.

For safety. make sure to insulate any loose wires with electrical tape.

Using the head unit for a long time with the engine off can drain the battery.

Do not watch or fix your gaze on the unit’s display whilst driving for any extended period. Don’t listen to loud music whilst driving. Excessive volume levels that mask sounds such as emergency vehicle sirens or road warning signals can be dangerous and may lead to an accident.

Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to humidity or water.

Never leave any metal items (like coins or metal tools) or liquid inside the unit. If this occurs, please turn off the car ignition to prevent short circuits or fire and consult your mechanic or XTRONS customer support.

If you hear strange noises, smell strange odours, and/or detect smoke from the product. immediately turn the car ignition off and unplug the product to avoid short circuits or fire, and consult your mechanic or XTRONS customer support.

Do not disassemble or modify the product in any way. Doing so may result in fire. If you experience problems during installation, consult your mechanic or XTRONS customer support.

Do not block vents or heat dissipation panels, Doing so may cause heat to build up inside and may result in fire.

Please bear in mind that whilst the navigation system/parking/reversing sensors are designed to make your driving simpler and safer, they do not replace the driver’s attention and judgment. The driver always has the responsibility to ensure the car is being driven safely, at a suitable speed, maintaining a proper distance from other vehicles, and in line with the current traffic rules and regulations.

Please keep the manual in a secure location, near the product for future reference.

General Warnings

The head unit is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with, on, or around the product. Close supervision of children is always necessary.

Turn off this unit in locations where inflammable gas or strong magnetic fields are present (for example a petrol station) as it may cause an accident.

Do not place heavy or dangerous objects on the screen.

To avoid electric shock, fire, serious injury, or product damage, do not expose the product to humidity or splash water directly onto the product.

To ensure safety, the wiring and installation of this unit requires technical skill and experience. If your car has airbags or any other shock-absorbing safety equipment, please contact the professional car electrician or dealer from whom you purchased this unit before installation.

Under no circumstances will XTRONS be held responsible for any incidental, indirect or consequential damages or any other damages including. but not limited to, loss of profits, or personal injury.

When navigating, carefully compare information displayed on the navigation system with all available navigation sources, including information from street signs, visual sightings, and maps. Always operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Ensure to not become distracted by the navigation system whilst driving. For safety, always resolve any issues or distractions before driving. XTRONS shall not be liable for problems or accidents resulting from failure to observe the driving conditions

XTRONS’ navigation system can be utilised when the ignition key is turned to ON or ACC. To conserve the battery, it should be operated with the engine running whenever possible. Using the navigation system for an extended period with the engine switched off can lead to battery drainage..

Main Screen Introduction

For BMW :

Go to Settings > Car Infotainment > Display > Theme Style > Touch the icon on the right side and choose your desired theme.

For Audi :

Go to More Apps > Topic switching > Touch the icon on the right side and choose your desired theme.

Functions

Adjust the screen brightness

Go to settings > Car Infotainment > Display, and then drag the slider.

Customise Quick Settings

a. To completely expand Quick Settings, swipe down twice from top down.
b. First swipe will show a list of notifications along with top six tiles from Quick Settings.
c. When you swipe down again, the Quick Settings panel will expand completely.
d. Tap the pencil icon located on the bottom-right corner and simply drag and move the tiles that you want to rearrange.

USB

Plug in a USB storage device and then tap Music on the Home screen to play music, tap Video to play video files, or tap Gallery to view images and photos.

This unit supports Picture in Picture which lets you watch videos whilst multitasking

* The PIP supports the built-in Video Player only. You can click the button on the screen to turn on PIP when playing a video.

AV Input

You can display the video image output of the device connected to this unit through the AV input cable.

  CAUTION
For safety reasons, video images cannot be viewed while your vehicle is in motion.
To view video images, stop in a safe place and apply the parking brake.

Bluetooth

Connect your mobile phone to this unit via Bluetooth and use an external microphone to make and receive hands-free calls.

a. The Bluetooth device must be within 1 metre of this unit. Turn on Bluetooth on the device.
b. You will find your head unit in the devices list of your Bluetooth device.
c. If your Bluetooth device supports SSP (Secure Simple Pairing), a four-digit number password will be required. The default password is 0000.

  CAUTION
For your safety, minimise phone conversations as much as possible while driving. Connection (Bluetooth pairing).

  • 1. Bluetooth Pair

Tap a device on the Paired devices or on the Available devices list, and then tap / to pair the device. Tap / to unpair the device.

  • 2. Bluetooth Dial

Enter the number to make a call. You can also choose a contact from the phone book to make a call.

  • 3. Phone Book

Tap / to synchronise the contacts from your Bluetooth device.

  • 4. Call History

View recent outgoing calls, incoming calls or missed calls.

  • 5. Bluetooth music

After the Bluetooth connection is established, you can play music stored on your Bluetooth device on this unit.

* First, you need to play the audio on your Bluetooth device. You can then play the Bluetooth music through this unit.*
The unit may not support the Bluetooth music function as some mobile phones may not be fully compatible with the unit.**

CarAutoPlay
  • 1. Wireless CarAutoPlay

To use wireless CarAutoPlay. please follow the steps below:

a. Execute the CarLetter or Phone Link application on the head unit. (The application for CarAutoPlay may vary on different units) Once you have opened the application. you need to select the CarAutoPlay menu.
b. Turn on Bluetooth and WiFi on your iPhone and the head unit.
c. Pair the Bluetooth. Enter the password when prompted. When the iPhone is connected to CarAutoPlay of the current car for the first time, a dialog box will pop up, click Use CarAutoPlay.
d. After pairing, a WiFi connection will be set up automatically between your iPhone and the head unit.
e. Wait 3-55 for the CarAutoPlay to load. After successfully loading, CarAutoPlay will show as below.

*We may update the CarAutoPlay app, so the app on the car stereo you received may differ, but the main features remain the same.*
To use wireless CarAutoPlay, iPhone must have iOS 12.0 or above.**

Android Auto
  • 1. Wireless Android Auto

To use wireless Android Auto, please follow the steps below:

a. Execute the Carletter or Phone Link application on the head unit. (The application for Android Auto may vary on different units.) Once you’ve opened the application, you need to select the Android Auto menu.
b. Turn on Bluetooth and WiFi on your Android phone and the head unit.
c. Pair the Bluetooth. Enter the password when prompted. When your phone is connected to Android Auto of the current car for the first time, a dialog box will pop up, click to use.
d. After pairing. a WiFi connection will be setup automatically between your phone and the head unit.
e. Wait 3~5S for the Android Auto to load. When it is done, Android Auto will show as below.

  • 2. Wired Android Auto

To use wired Android Auto, please follow the steps below:

a. Execute the CarLetter or Phone Link application on the head unit. (The application for Android Auto may vary on different units) Once you’ve opened the application, you need to select the Android Auto menu.
b. Plug your Android Smartphone’s USB cable into this unit’s USB cable.
c. Wait 3~5S for the Android Auto to load. After successfully loading. Android Auto home screen will show as above.

* We may update the app for Android Auto, so the app on the car stereo you received may differ, but the main features remain the same.*
To use Android Auto, your Android smartphone must be able to install Google service, Google APPS and Android Auto application.**

The built-in navigation provides detailed and dependable route guidance to assist you in reaching your destination. You have the option to download a variety of GPS Navigation apps through Google Play and operate them on the unit. You can download Sat Nav applications such as TomTom, Navigon. Route66, Sygic, iGO, Google Maps and many others.

Connect to the Internet

You can connect the unit to the Internet whenever necessary, using a Wi-Fi connection (if available) or 4G network.

To use Wi-Fi, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Turn on WiFi > Choose a WiFi network and then enter the password if required.

To use 4G internet, please refer to following steps:

a. Turn the machine off.
b. Find the SIM cable, push right to open the lid > push the clip up to open > insert the SIM card in the correct direction > close and push the clip up to lock > close the lid and push left to lock.

c. Check signal mark in the upper right corner of the display. If normal, then you are free to surf the internet. You can browse the web, download apps via Google Play, play online games, etc. The possibilities are endless with the Internet in your car.

SIM card is not included and the unit accepts Micro-SIM card (15mm12mm) ONLY.

* The 4G function supports most of the frequencies in South and North America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. The 4G frequency bands used in different countries are different, a few frequency bands may not be supported.

* Do not plug or unplug the SIM card while the machine is running as it may result in burning the SIM card or issues receiving the 4G signal.

* When inserting the SIM card, please pay attention to the direction of the card, the wrong direction will lead to no signal or burn the SIM card.

Split Screen

Split screen( view two apps side by side on the same screen).
Tap the icon from the status bar to view the running apps. Select two apps you wish to have on the same screen. Touch and hold the first app until a notification appears on the left side of the screen: “Drag here to use split screen” – and drag it there. Once it snaps into place, select the second app to appear on the other side of the screen.

* Not all apps support split screen.

Extended Functions
  • 1. OBD (Optional)

The unit is compatible with OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics) car diagnostics. With the OBD2 feature on this unit, you can obtain real-time data and fault codes from your vehicle’s computer. All your vehicle’s data is presented to you. (The OBD2 car diagnostic scanner tool is sold separately).

  • 2. DVR (Optional)

You can control a car DVR camera (sold separately) from this unit and use it to record all the events of a journey.

  • 3. TPMS (Optional)

A Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) (sold separately). monitors the air pressure inside the pneumatic tyres on vehicles with the sensors. By installing a TPMS, it can display your tyre pressure information on the TPMS app on the head unit.

  • Only works with the Android compatible TPMS system.

    • 4. Backup Camera (Optional)

A reversing camera (sold separately) provides live images whenever you are reversing the car, enabling you to alleviate the rear blind spot and avoid a collision when backing up.

  • 1. Network & Internet

1.1 Wi-Fi
Turn Wi-Fi on or off.
Choose a network: Tap one of the listed networks and then enter the password if required

1.2 Mobile network

1.3 Data usage
View the data usage for your apps

1.4 Hotspot & tethering
Turn Wi-Fi hotspot on or off.
Set up Wi-Fi hotspot.

1.5 SIM cards
Manage the SIM cards and preferred SIM for Mobile data, Calls and SMS messages.

1.6 Airplane mode
Turn airplane mode on or off.

1.7 VPN
Tap the + button and provide the VPN’s details. Tap the VPN to connect once you have set it up. You will be asked to enter a username and password.

1.8 Private DNS
Select Private DNS mode from Off / Automatic or enter hostname of a private DNS provider.

  • 2. Car Infotainment

2.1 Common

2.1.1 Sleep mode
Turn sleep mode on or off.

2.1.2 Assistive Touch
Turn Assistive Touch on or off.

2.1.3 Reverse Volume Suppression
Choose from None, Weak, Medium, and Strong

2.1.4 Boot Logo
Enter the password 5678. Select one of the preinstalled logos as your start up screen. You can also select images imported from a USB storage device or from a SD memory card. You need to plug the USB storage device in with a USB cable or insert the SD memory card into the GPS card slot. Images should stay at the 1920 x 720 pixels resolution. The image format should be BMP.

2.1.5 Reset All Settings
Reset settings and recorded contents to the factory settings.

2.2 Display

2.2.1 Daytime Backlight Set
Drag the slider to adjust the screen brightness in the daytime

2.2.2 Nighttime Backlight Set
Drag the slider to adjust the screen brightness in the nighttime.

2.2.3 Auto Mode
Turn Auto Mode on or off.

2.3 Volume
Drag the slider to adjust the volume in different modes.

2.4 Sound
Set up the Smart Bass, Equaliser, Loudness, Balance, Delay and Filter to enjoy the perfect listening experience.

2.5 Video

2.5.1 Disable Video in Motion
On: Video images cannot be viewed while your vehicle is in motion.
Off: Video images can be viewed while your vehicle is in motion.

  CAUTION
For safety. videos cannot be viewed while your vehicle is in motion. To view videos please stop in a safe location and apply your parking brake.

2.6 Navigation

2.6.1 File Path
You can customise a pre-installed navigation app to correspond with the “Navi” button on the Home Screen. For instance, if you select “Google Maps” here, when you press the “Navi” button on the Home Screen, the “Google Maps” app will be activated by default.

2.7 Bluetooth

Turn Auto Connect/Auto Answer on or off.

2.8 SWC

In vehicles fitted with a digital steering wheel control system (CAN bus), this feature is not available due to the limitations of the CAN bus protocol. In this scenario, the steering wheel control buttons are pre-set for specific functions as determined by the vehicle manufacturer. Please refer to the device that was actually purchased.

2.9 About Device

You can see recently opened apps.

3.2 Notifications
Add or change an alert style for notifications from apps.

3.3 Default apps
View all the default apps.

3.4 Permission manager
View and manage all app permissions including file access, location etc.

3.5 Special app access
View and manage some special app access.

  • 4. Storage

See how much storage space is available on the unit’s internal storage. You can tap “FREE UP SPACE” to delete photos, videos, and apps that no long require.

  • 5. Memory

View the average memory usage. The default time-period is set to 3 hours. You can switch between 3, 6, 12 hours and 1 day to view the average usage.

  • 6. Accounts

Add users or add accounts.
Turn Automatically sync data on or off.

  • 7. Google

Manage services & preferences in Google settings.

  • 8. System

8.1 Languages & input

8.1.1 Language
Set the language for the unit. You can add a language and arrange preferred language order by dragging them.

8.1.2 Virtual keyboard
The default keyboard is Android Keyboard(AOSP). You can manage the installed keyboards.

8.1.3 Physical keyboard
Set up your external keyboard,

  • 9. About Device
Troubleshooting
  • Not Powering on
  1. Ensure all power cables are firmly connected to the correct power source.
  2. Use a multimeter to verify a 12V supply at both ends of the yellow wire.
  3. Try connecting the red ACC cable to the yellow wire to see if the unit turns on.
  4. Ensure the fuse in the small black box is intact. If not, replace it.
  5. Resetting the unit by pressing the reset button on the unit.
  • No sound/Sound only comes from one side.
  1. Check if the fiber optic cable is removed from the factory ISO and plugged to the XTRONS ISO.
  2. For vehicles with AUX: Connect the Audio Out port of the XTRONS harness to the AUX-IN port in the car.
  3. For vehicles with AMI: Connect the AMI port to the XTRONS Audio Out cable using an adapter cable.
  4. For vehicles with USB: Contact XTRONS customer service for further assistance.
  5. Ensure to disconnect and forget your car’s original Bluetooth from your phone.
  • Bluetooth pairing constantly connects and disconnects
  1. The Bluetooth reception is poor – move the mobile phone closer to the unit.
  2. Remove any potential obstacles between phone and stereo which could interfere with signal.
  3. Some mobile phones may connect and disconnect constantly when you make or end calls – this does not indicate product malfunction.
  4. Bluetooth may be deactivated automatically as a power saving feature on some phones – check your settings to see whether this is enabled.
  • GPS positioning is not possible
  1. GPS positioning is disabled if signals cannot be received from more than two GPS satellites.
  2. In some driving conditions, signals from GPS satellites may not reach your vehicle. In this case, it is impossible for the system to use GPS positioning.
  3. If a car phone or cellular phone is used near the GPS antenna, GPS reception may be lost temporarily.
  • No original menu on the XTRONS screen
  1. Ensure that the LVDS cable connection and fiber optic cable connection are secure.
  2. Change resolution in Car Info app – Factory Head Unit Parameter Setting – Original Menu Resolution Adjustment(Manual).
  3. Turn on the factory main unit and make sure it is ready to work.
  • Touch screen not responding
  1. Remove the touch screen protector sheet. Some screen protectors may be too thick and prevent the touch screen from responding correctly.
  2. Calibrate the touch screen (contact XTRONS support for further information).
  3. Reset the unit.
  • The screen is covered by a caution message and video cannot be displayed

Access Settings — Car infotainment — Video — Disable Video In Motion, uncheck this option.

  • No Reversing Camera Image or Image flashes/distorts

Change the camera type in Car info APP–General settings –Rear camera type

  • SIM card cannot be recognised/No internet connection
  1. Remove the PIN request using an old cell phone.
  2. Press the Reset hole on the unit body with a pointed object after inserting the SIM card.
  3. Check the APN settings.
  4. Check the SIM card and try different SIM cards.
Appendix
  • When using this product
  1. Use this product where the ambient temperature is between -10° and 50°C. Using this product in the conditions outside of its operating range might cause temporary or permanent damage to the system, and such damage may not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Store the product where the temperature is between -20° and 80°C.
  2. Do not connect a USB storage device via a USB hub.
  3. Connecting a USB cable of total length longer than 5 metres may result in abnormal playback.
  4. When this product cannot recognise the connected USB storage device. disconnect the device and replace it with another USB storage device.
  5. Do not use any software which is not provided by XTRONS to update the system. If you require the system update, please consult your dealer.
  • Handling the screen
  1. When the screen is subjected to direct sunlight for long periods of time, it may result in damage. When not using this product please make sure to avoid exploding it to direct sunlight as much as possible.
  2. Do not use the screen at temperatures higher or lower than the operating temperature range. because the screen may not operate normally and could be damaged.
  3. The screen is exposed in order to increase its visibility within the vehicle. Please do not press strongly on it as this may damage it.
  4. Do not push the screen with excessive force as this may scratch it.
  5. Never touch the screen with anything besides your finger when operating the touch panel functions. The screen can scratch easily.
  • Maintaining the screen
  1. When cleaning the screen or removing dust, please turn off the product and wipe with a soft dry cloth.
  2. When cleaning the screen, avoid using strong or abrasive chemicals.
